I am looking for any information about my great-grandfather, Louis Phillippe Brier's first wife, Lina Boer. The only information anyone in my family has is from a copy of their marriage certificate, dated January 26, 1874. It states that she was from New Orleans. The J.P, John L Laresche, spelled her name Lina Boor, but she signed it Lina Boer. All attempts to locate information about her have been unfruitfull. I would appreciate any information that anyone may have about her.
Thanks,
Laurie Kozuba

I have in a family photo album portrait pictures of the Rev. Henry K. Boer and his wife Mary. According to the 1880 census of Albany, NY, Rev Boer (34) was born in the Netherlands and was a minister: I presume he was a Dutch Reformed minister, given the name and the location. His wife (26) was also born in the Netherlands. A daughter Janetta (3) is also listed with them. If any of these names sound familiar to you and you would like a copy of the photos, I would be happy to send them to you.

I am trying to trace the Boer war activities of my Grandfather William Charles Brett. I know he was a trooper in the 16th Lancers and that they fought in the Boer War. Can any one suggest how I trace enlisted men as to the best of my knowledge he was not an officer. I know he had two medals (recently stollen by house burglars) but do not know whether they were for specific actions or for the general campaign.

Thanks in advance,

Martin

My grandparents John Herman Boer and Johanna (Rynsburger) Boer both came from Holland in the early 1900's. My grandmother has a twin bro. Arie Rynsburger who also came to the US. The exact name of my grandfather is not known due to changes made at Ellis Island. If you have any info please e-mail me. Thanks so very much. Also, my grandmother did visit relatives in Africa and Holland shortly before her death on Jan 7, 2001
