I am a part of the line of Boeses who immigrated from Prussia and "landed" in Kansas as part of the Mennonite community. Please e-mail me anytime at julieb0511@yahoo.com and hopefully we can share information or just connect some dots.

Julie

Yes. From what I'm told, Gottlieb Boese was the very first Boese. All lines supposedly descend from him. Please e-mail me at yahoo dot com. My address is julieb0511 on that service. (I listed it separately in case e-mail addresses are removed or blocked in posts) I will list it in case it does go through. It is julieb0511@yahoo.com

Hello

My family have a Richard Frederick Boese and his son Charles/Carl Frederick Boese born circa 1849 - possibly born in Norway, but this is unconfirmed so I am looking at all possibilities in Europe and the UK. Charles/Carl came to New Zealand circa 1872. Can you supply me with the family tree info - parents, children & siblings that you have during the 1800's to see if there are any close or same name matches.
Many Thanks, Sheena Boese.

The Will Grundy Genealogy Society(WGGS) transcribed the County Clerk's voluntary death index 1878-1915 it is in their collection housed in reference dept. coal city public library. Coal city library is very near where I live, that's how I checked it. That index is exactly the same info the county clerk has except for one thing, it's free. County Clerk charges for search.
Kathy

Thanks Kathy!
It was actually the information from Ernestine's 2nd marriage license that gave me a better idea as to when William may have died.
But the voluntary death certs, did you check these at the Will County Clerk's office, or do you have another source?

I wonder who Clara is - the Boeses (and Heraths) were Lutheran - so a nice mystery there.
Thanks again!

My grandfather, Luis Karl Bose, migrated from Bremen, Germany, to Durango, Mexico, in the late 1880's. He returned to Bremen to marry his second wife, my grandmother, Johanne Caroline Wehmeyer in 1900. Forced out of Durango by the Mexican Revolution, the family moved to San Antonio, Texas. I will be pleased to share my research with others who are descended from the Bremen Boses.
Susiesearcher@att.net
I saw in one of the threads mentioned Albert and Bertha Boese (Bese) I have a book that was researched specifically for our family.
Johann Boese who died in 1867 and was married to Susanna (Buller) Voth. They immigrated from Poland (previously Prussia)
I have many family stories that have been recorded, immigration naturalization citizenship certificates, copies of photos, birth certificates, death certificates. I have information on religion choices which include, Mennonite (Johann Boese became a Mennonite minister) Franz Goossen was a early family friend and in-laws. I have a lengthy story of events that occurred in the Dolton Township in 1874
The later history of the Boese family is difficult to trace, however I do have some general information about our family if interested.
E-Mail - doozer296@aol.com
Would be glad to hear from some family.
I was born with the last name Dehn, My Grandfather's Mother was Aganetha Bese (Boese) - Daughter of Johann Bese (Boese) 1851-1923, son of Johann Boese (Bese) who died in 1867 married to Susanna (Butler) Voth.
Debbie

I recently heard this story about Boese in my research of the Boese family. I have the dates of b. 1788, d. 1832. His son as Jacob G. Boese b.1810, d. 1900. Jacob's son as Heinrich Boese b. 1837 d. 1927. Then Heinrich M. Boese and Heinrich D. Boese b. 1893 d. 1918 in Lake Charles, LA. I'd be interested in any information you can share on this family's history.

My maiden name is Boese. I am looking for my dad's,Harold Lloyd Boese, family members. He was born in Iowa to Robert and Dora Boese, one of 8 children, in 1926. Lived and died in Galvaston, Texas. I believe he had a son and two daughters living in that area at the time of his death. I am not sure of where his siblings might be now. I heard that some family had moved to Nebraska or Kansas.

Linda,

As regards Martin and his family, I have a one sentence reference in a transcript of notes made by Caprice Becker in a conversation with Elizabeth Boese in November of 1989 that states, "Martin Boese had concubines and was wealthy." If that is the case, there could have been children with women who would not show up in marriage records, just to confuse the issue.

Cornelius Martin Boese, Karlswalda, Russia, Kansas

We are looking for information on my husband's great-great grandfather, Cornelius Martin Boese, of Karlswalde. Another researcher with whom I have had no direct contact indicates his parents as Martin Boese and Maria Buller, but I have no independent confirmation of that. Cornelius was born between 1828 - 1833 and married Elizabeth Schmidt, daughter of August Schmidt and Maria Unruh. His son, John(Johann) C. Boese, married Carolina Koehn, daughter of William Koehn and Katherina Nachtigal. The family emigrated to Kansas in 1893 with children Susie, Helena, and Tobias. Jacob died as a child. Marie, Adina, Nettie, Elizabeth and Henry were born in the US.

We are looking for information on the extended Boese family. Specifically,we'd like to have confirmation of Cornelius' parents and links to ancestors. Was Martin, assuming he was the patriarch, the original Boese settler in the Karlswalde area about 1802, or the child of one? We're also seeking information about any siblings Cornelius may have had and their descendants. And, is there any information about Cornelius' other children - we know of Susanna, who married a Tobias Unruh, and Jacob, who died just before emigrating. Were there any others? Jacob's widow Susanna and three children Johann, Tobias, and Cornelius did join his brother John's family on the Gera (arrived Baltimore, June 8, 1893) and presumably went with them to Kansas, but we know nothing more about them.

We've recently seen references to other Boese families from near the same area of Kansas where my husband's family settled - mostly Harvey and McPherson counties, and suspect that they are likely to be from the same extended family, so, does anyone have any links?

My last name is Boesen, also. We talk about the same things in our family. With some simple research we figured out that the *n* ending indicates multiples. So Boesen is many Boese, basically.

Also, in the old classic *Peter and the Wolf* the wolf is called Boese or Boesen.

And Boese(n) is a German adjective. You can look it up in a dictionary. I did in several. One said *Mean and angry ones* Another said *mischievious or devilish*.

At holidays we sit around the table and laugh about it, and wonder just what our earliest ancestors did to get the entire clan of us called BOESEN. ::chuckles::

Right or wrong, we are proud of it.

~ Drea Boesen,
daughter of Steven Joe Boesen,
son of Joseph Mathias Boesen,
son of Edward Boesen,
son of Mathias Boesen,
son of Johannes BÖsen,
son of Michael BÖsen,
son of Christoph BÖsen...
who died 17 November 1792 in Onsdorf, (Rheinland-Pfalz), Germany.
Burial: 20 November 1792, St. Martin Katholische Kirche in Nittel, (Rheinland-Pfalz), Germany
Religion: Catholic
.

( p.s. My aunt and a cousin of my father did some GREAT research on this line. He literally went to churches and city halls in Germany and looked up records. Let me know if this line might attach to yours? ~ Drea )

Just read your message and found it interesting as my grandfather, my mother's dad, would be Henry D. Boese whose mother was Maria Doerksen and his father was Heinrich M. Boese. Apparently, your grandfather and mine were brothers. As Henry D. died when my mother was very young, we have no family information or connections. I'd be interested in hearing about the Boese family - where they lived, etc? Send a reply to kathyne@sbcglobal.net

Boese/Bousse family of Vt., N.Y., MD., and MA.

Searching for information about the parents and family origins of Edward Boesse, who was born ca. 1843. He was living in Berlin Township, N.Y. in the 1910 census, and his birth place was listed as Maryland, and birth place of his parents was only listed as United States. There was an Edward Bousse who enlisted into the Civil War from Westfield, MA. Also, information exists that places this family in Pownal, Bennington, VT. in 1898...and descendants found their way to Cape Cod, MA. I'm searching for information concerning the earliest known ancestor, Edward Boesse, born ca. 1843. Can anyone help?
Jean Mayo

Does anyone have any information regarding Charles Boese and Sophia Witteborn? Thier children are: George Charles, Carl, Mildred, Grace Sophie, Elfrieda Malthilda, John J. Theresa, and William. Although I believe Wm. may have died young because I don't see him mentioned much.

Thank you

The Henry Boese I am looking for was born ABT 1903 in Germany and immigrated to the U.S. in 1906 with his Father Robert, Mother Sophia, one brother William, and two sisters Lena and Anna. The family lived in Iowa. Do you have a DOB for Henry Boese you are researching? Anything is possible as not much is known about the Henry Boese I am researching.
