Hello, I know you posted this message quite a while ago but i am researching the same family and I am wondering if you ever found the information you were looking for.
I am a descendent of Williams' son William A Boggs and I have been trying to put this piece of the puzzle together myself. I recently discovered that there were a number of Boggs' in Belmont Co. Ohio around this time and wonder if perhaps these aren't relatives.
Anyway, if you are still out there I'd love to hear from you!
-K.A.

Samuel Boggs of Warren, Knox, Maine

I am descendant of Samuel Boggs Sr. one of the original Scots-Irish settlers of Warren, Knox County Maine. According to the Annals of Warren, Samuel Boggs was one of the original signers of the settlement agreement with General Samuel Waldo on April 18 1735 at St. George's Fort (pg 51. listed as Boogs). I have been trying to determine when/how Samuel and his family arrived in Maine and where exactly he was born. Unfortunately the immigration information found on Ancestry states only that he is from Ireland and that he arrived in 1753 (18 years after he signed the agreement).

I have been trying to research Gen. Samuel Waldo to find out more about his voyages to Ireland and have determined that he brought a number of Scots-Irish to Maine in 1734 and in 1753 but have been unable to determine the name of the ship or the origination points for either voyage.

Most of the information I have on Samuel and his family is from member trees and have no citations so I am pretty skeptical about its accuracy. But this is what I've got:

Samuel Boggs b:1695 Londonderry Ireland d:1783 Warren ME
wife: Anna ? b:1701 Ireland d:1764 Warren ME
son: William b:1721 Warren ME
son: John b:1723 Warren ME
son Samuel Jr. b:1731 Warren ME

If anyone has any insight at all that might help I'd appreciate it!

Re: Mary Ellen Boggs and Josiah Clark Reed

Hi Zach!

Well, I have probably the same docs as you do at this point, but I'll try and explain my interpretation of everything to see if it helps.

I have Josiah Sr. marrying Mary Ann Cox (d. 1848) & Ann M. Unknown. Ann M. Unknown ("Ann Sr.") shows up on the 1850 census with Josiah and crew, along with her children Ann M., Elmira, and Robert- all with Lane for a surname. So, while Ann Sr.'s first married name would have been Lane, her maiden name remains currently unknown (although I haven't rooted around in KY records for her marriage records to Mr. Unknown Lane, yet.)

On the 1860 census, Ann Sr. and Josiah are now both in their 50s there have been no new children added leaving me to believe that Ann Sr. and Josiah didn't have any children together- at least none that would have lived long. So Josiah's offspring would have all been with Mary Ann Cox.

Regarding wife #3, I have also heard that, but haven't found anything. I have Josiah & Ann still living and married in the 1870 census (June), and Josiah dies in December of 1871 (Ann dies later). So, unless 1) there was another wife between Mary Ann Cox's death and Ann M. Unknown's marriage to Josiah, or 2) there was a wife before Mary Ann Cox I just don't see anything fitting in anywhere. It's always possible, of course. I just haven't found ANYTHING to indicate that the third wife story is true.

Regarding Josiah's parents, I haven't found anything but I also haven't taken a trip to Kentucky or contacted anyone there to dig on my behalf. There's so much that's not online so that would be my next move on this line to find more info. I haven't done work on this branch of my tree for a while.

I hope all this helps! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you want to partner on anything.

Enjoy your day,
Mandy

Hi, I am looking for any information on Josiah Clark Reed. I am particulary looking for his parents. I am stuck on him in terms of tracking my pedigree. I have all of his children and two of possibly three wives(Mary Ann Cox and Ann M Lane). I read somewhere online that he had 3 wives, although I do not know if this is true. Also, I am not sure if I have the correct children in regards to which wife he had them with. Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you arrive at any definite conclusions on who belongs to whom? The ancestor I've reached is Elizabeth Jane Boggs who married Newton W. Cook abt 1855. I had her parents as Peter M. Boggs/Matilda Holladay, but all tree hints show her with Larkin Boggs and Susan Moon. One post indicated Larkin and Susan were both killed in a buggy accident and their 4 girls, being Hannah, Elizabeth, Martha and Catherine, were parceled out to other families. That would certainly explain the lack of census reports for Larkin or Susan past 1840. It would also explain why census reports show Elizabeth as only 13 years younger than her "father" Peter and 8 years older than the next sibling. It seems unanimous among those with an opinion that Larkin's parents were Peter and Mary Polly. I'd love to see your results on them.

With thanks,
Pat Shepherd
Robert Moses Boggs is my great-great grandfather and I was wondering if anyone knew him or has information on him. I know his wife was Mary Etta Lunsford and I know he had at least one daughter, Mary Nell Boggs Pendergrast.Mary Nell and her husband Joe had 5 children. Four of them are still living.
Searching for any genealogy information on a Juanita Boggs (Juanita N. Boggs). The following information is what I think I might know. Looks like she may have been born approx 1930 in Missouri(?)-looked like with a family last name Hottle(?), lived in Florida at some point. Had a daughter named Nina or Nina Lee, maybe Nina Lee Morgan? Married a man in Florida last name Kensak. Later in life married a Ray Thomas. If anyone has any information for me on her, I would greatly appreciate it.

On Ancestry I found a whole different name for those relatives. IN my research tisna and borsha was wrong. I will have to look back through it to explain. I have found relatives of Victoria Duez though and have talked to them. There is still some relatives of her brother and sister living in Indiana and Illinois in their 90's.
Rev. John Boggs' branch.

I quickly traced my line back Isaac Hopkins Boggs, 1811-1870; died in Illinois. I was stuck there for a while until I found that Isaac's father may have been:

John Boggs, Jr., 1770-1846; died in New Jersey, and his father:

Rev. John Boggs, Sr., 1739-1802; died in Delaware.

From there, the Internet points me to another John Boggs, 1700-1751, born in Ireland and died in Pennsylvania. That John is purportedly the son of the James Boggs born 1667 in Londonderry, Ireland.

Is this all accurate?

Then there seems to be something off about John Boggs, Jr. The New Jersey marriage records I've found show him as having married Eliza Hopkins in 1806 and Mary Hunt in 1828. However, Eliza's headstone states that she did not die until 1831. John was buried next to her in 1846. Mary is in the same graveyard as Eliza and John, and her headstone identifies her as John's widow. I don't think that Baptists practiced polygamy at that time, so something has to be wrong.

http://anthrocivitas.net/forum/showthread.php?p=186458

now will the real cherokee Boggs, with connections in florida and detroit and everyplace between please stand up...

I found the Governor who was Shoeboots first wives father ..and I found his picture... if you know what a paint clan male can look like and you know what cherokee males wore at that time.. you can find him at a link here.

now I KNOW for sure SHOEBOOTS SON( SONS ?) at least one if not all of them USE THE NAME WALKER and Walkingstick , I do not know what name his daughters use... I only remember maybe mary polly /polly parrot as his wife or daughters name , so it is her name or what his wife or one of his daughter was called by .
but the name walker IT COMES FROM LEANINGWOOD=WALKINGSTICK. it is significant of Attakullkulla Chickasaw blood and a certain chickasaw origins story. if you didn't know Attakullakulla was adopted as a baby and it is all very interesting.
long story made short
it is recorded as Shoeboots saying his dad is Nippinsing indian and that was his answer to why Attakullkulla was small.. i remember it as he was part like " mishsheegan" sp ? "/ or like Michigan indian ? were Nippinsing called something like mishsheegan too?
on Attakullkulla , now his mother or father was one or the other , I do not remember which was chickasaw from a clan that was like their royal clan that the cherokee completely destroyed the whole structure of chickasaw royal lineage and leadership.. and that royal clan never existed in the Chickasaw after that time. Attakullkulla and maybe a sister or like his half sister was all that remained of that clan.
so that origins story is the reason for the word leaningwood/ walkingstick/ "leaning pole" in the story is all the same thing or idea from the origins story .
I hope this help Boggs figure out who is the Real only John Boggs who married turtle at homes daughters is ..
on Hamiltons pictures he drew is a possible hairlip the one with the droppy eyes.. , I am sure he is someone related to Shoeboots . I do not know who though.. sorry... but he is a family or friend of Shoeboots.
I am a Walker a few times and a Shoeboots once , I am not a boggs but I know you are related to him and wanted to get your family this info if I could remember it.. and I am sure I found it now. enjoy and may God bless you my cousins. I can't believe I found his and his dads and his granddads pictures .. wow.. so amazing.. I hope you enjoy seeing him ...enjoy

My Grandmother (born in 1936) if from W.V. with the maiden name Boggs. Her Mother was Nellie Boggs, and father was Ira Boggs. Brothers and sisters include Douglas, Norma, twins Dorkus and Dorthy, Wilda (my grandmother), Dallas, Granville, Connie, Earl, and 2 more brothers and sisters I cannot not remember at the moment. My Uncle Dallas had done a lot of work on the Boggs family history and I'm sure would be more than willing to give any info he has found. From what I remember from my Grandmothers stories she lived in Porters Creek, Wv. and Clendenin.
I stated in an earlier post that I am trying to find information on my father-in-laws family. What I do know that his mother was Darla Boggs 1900-1948. Darla's mother was Pruda Ellen Boggs, 1880-1968, married John Windon, Pruda was daughter of Caroline Boggs, born 1854 and Caroline was daughter of James R. Boggs 1800-1887 and Lacy Ann O'Brien, 1831-1916. If anyone has any information on this line of family, it would truly be appreciated. I am running up against blank walls.

Per the 1880 census, James and Anne Boggs are living in Pittsburg, Pa. James is listed as b. 1835, VA., and Anne is listed as being born in PA. and her parents were born in Ireland. I could send you a copy of this census if you don't have one. Just let me know.

Susan Boggs of Braxton County WV or Jackson County WV

Hi All,

I am looking for information on a Susan Boggs of either Braxton (1832-1855) or Jackson County (1827-1891) and her relationship with Snow Cook and Elsworth Lewis Gardner. My Great (x3) Grandfather, Elsworth Louis Gardner (1850-1924), death certificate lists a Susan Boggs and Snow Cook of West Virginia as his parents. Since he carries neither last name I am struggling to make any connections. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Sorry This took so long. My G-Grandmother Mary Haggins (hagans, Higgins, many diff spellings) was Mary Bogs on her marriage license application to my G-Grandfather Adolphis Haggins. The spellings were taken directly from the application of which I have a copy . They were married on or about 15 July 1895 in Beaver County, PA. His parents are listed as William & Margart A. Haggins and her's are James & Ann Bogs. Both Adolphis & Mary were born in Beaver County, PA. I do know that Mary could not write as her "mark" was placed on the application next to her name. Any help you could give me would be most appreciated.

I am highly interested in Mary Mullins. I have very little information about her from my side of the family. If I am correct, she was born just a few years before my Great Grandfather, Milton. I think I have found that Mary was married to John Wheeler Mullins, had four children. Her husband, John, died 30 years before she did, in which she died in 1984 in Richmond, Kentucky. You can contact me further at vancej30@live.com. I am interested in how she died, why Richmond, confirmation on her children's names, exact date of Mary's birth, any pictures of Lillie Mae and/or Madison and some pictures of Mary in various years, love to see some with Mary and her brothers/sisters/parents. Any family information on Mary's older sister Ida or younger sisters Carrie and Martha. Thanks for your response.
