Ernest Bois (1903-1981), son of Louis Bois & Clara Paradis, married Marie Louise Aurore Darby, daughter of Frank Darby and Adele Faugette, on November 14, 1924 at the Bon Pasteur et St. Louis de France Roman Catholic Church in Espanola Ontario (Ancestry.ca record)

Aurore Darby was a younger sister of my grandfather Joseph Guilliaume/William Darby. I am researching the siblings and found your query.

Ernie and Aurore are buried in the cemetery in Espanola and their gravestone photo can be found at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/murrayp/sud...

Louis and Clara are at the same above only bois2,jpg

Ernie is listed at Earnest in the 1911 census of Canada, son of Louis and Clara. Louis is born March 1837 (but that must be wrong as he is 25 years old), Clara born 1883 age 28, and Earnes is 7 years old, born 1903. There are daughters Eanette, born Aug 1906, age 5 and Aurora age 4, son Aldemore, age 3, daughter Dorathy age 2 and Alberta 4/12. Algoma East, 40 Baldwin, which I think is probably Espanola.

Hope this helps

Gail Darby

I am looking for information on Marie Bois (sp?), born in 1883 likely in either Canada or Northern Maine.

She was married to Eugene Cyr Albert and they had 9 children together who reached adulthood. They eventually came to reside in Portland, Maine.

If the information I have is correct, at some point she was the only teacher at a one room schoolhouse in Aroostook County, Maine.

Any information regarding her parents or birth would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Hi,

I know it's five years later, but I'm doing some family history research and stumbled upon your post....my great-grandfather's name is Napoleon Bois. I'm not sure if it's the same man, but my great-grandfather was one of the first residents in Espanola, Ontario in the early part of the century. I believe he moved there with his brothers to find work building a new river dam that was to be used for a pulp and paper mill. His brothers were Delphis, Joe, and Louis. This would have been sometime around 1902.

My Grandfather's name was Charlemagne (Charlie)

Hope this helps...

Kevin Dicaire

According to PRDH (U. of Montreal) the marriage location for Joseph BOIS ( Jean Bernard BOIS and Mare Madeleine PELLETIER) and Angelique Marie Ange BERTRAND (Louis BERTRAND and Marie Anne VAUTOUR) took place at an unknown location before the baptism of their daughter Marie Angelique on Sept 12 1765 at La Pocatiere. If they had not been married the priest would have noted it on the record. I also checked the marriage repetoire for Ste-Anne de La Pocatiere and the marriage is not listed.

Regards,
Sharyn

Entered service at: Northampton, Mass. Born: 1841, Canada. Date of issue: 24 November 1916. G.O. No.: 17, 10 July 1863. Citation: Served as quartermaster on board the U.S.S. Cincinnati during the attack on the Vicksburg batteries and at the time of her sinking, 27 May 1863. Engaging the enemy in a fierce battle, the Cincinnati, amidst an incessant fire of shot and shell, continued to fire her guns to the last, though so penetrated by enemy shellfire that her fate was sealed. Conspicuously cool in making signals throughout the battle, Bois, after all the Cincinnati's staffs had been shot away, succeeded in nailing the flag to the stump of the forestaff to enable this proud ship to go down, "with her colors nailed to the mast."
Re: Georges Bois m. Celina Gamache, where?

I am giving the result of my research on my own request.

Celina Gamache was the d/o Edouard Gamache and Domithilde Avoine from St Damase, CO L'Islet, Quebec, she was m first with Phileas Thibault Aug 12 1900, St Anne, Fall Rivers, MA, they had a son named Donat, I dont know if there were other kids, then she married Georges Bois sept 16 1909, St Aubert, Co L'Islet, Quebec. I am still in the dark about which Georges Bois she married, there are a couple in the 1901 census.

for whoever interested in that family, Georges Bois lived in Fauquier, Ontario and he raised Donat Thibault ...one of his children was named Georges also and married my hubby' s aunt, Huet...

Now for Edouard Gamache that lived in Fauquier and died there, I am not sure if he had been married, if he was Celina's brother then he got married with a Senecal...

for whoever not aware here the url for teh 1901 census, very handy

http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/

have fun in your research

Odile
