Wilhelm Kuesel(b. 1857 d.1888) was my grandmother Emma Emelia Kuesel/ Burg's father. He and Hannah Augusta Westphal had two other children, Fredrick and Martha.Wilhelm and Hannah farmed near Massena Iowa. According to my father, Wilhelm Kuesel stubbed his toe during a footrace on 4 July 1888 and died 15 September 1888 of gangrene.He is buried north of Massena.Hannah Augusta married Gustav Rechenbach and had 8 more children.

My Great Grandmother was born in Pomerania in 1860 and died in Milwaukee WI in 1929. She married Fred Bohl. She was about 13 when she came to US. She was said to have come here with her grandparents the Seiferts. I do not know if the spelling is correct. Her mother was given as Joanna Seifert on Bertha's marriage application. I can not find her coming to this county and she is not on the 1870 census and in 1880 she is married to Fred Bohl. Any help would be of much help!

I'm also interested in the Boness family of Ashland Co. In the 1910 census (http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=...) My Great, Great Grandfather Joseph Koran's family appears to be listed as same household and family as Boness's. The idea that the Korans had shacked up with another family is news to me. I'm curious to find more.

I am needing some assistance. I am not related but am helping a dear friend out. This is what I know which is not very much at this point.
In Green Bay, WI, USA I have a Ralph G. Bonness Sr. whom is passed, and he was born in the Chicago, IL area. His father was George Joseph Bonness from Chicago, IL, USA b: 3/18/1903
d: 9/24/1976 in Chicago, IL
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not have an obituary for George as of yet. I have started this genealogy recently and can not go to IL to do the footwork.

Correction: Maybelle's was my great aunt as well. According to my source, it was Maybelle's son Daniel, who drowned, not her husband. Maybelle had a sister, Berla, whose husband drowned. His name was Campbell (not sure of the first name at this time).

I am trying to identify the man in this photo. The only clue is on the back, "Grandpa Bonness' brother." I believe he may be a brother of my great-grandfather, Herman Carl Gustav Boness, 1844-1919, who emigrated from Germany in 1886 and settled in Oriska, ND, USA. He married Johanna Zemke. Their children were Otto, Emil, Anton, Emma, Helena (Lena), Elizabeth (Lizzy).

My ggGrandparents, Johann Martin Bonness(later Boness), from Gandelin, Kr. Kolberg-Korlin, Pomerania and Henrietta Butenhof, from Zarben, Kr. Greifenberg, near Gandelin came in 1874 to Milwaukee. These towns are not far from Kolberg. They had 5 boys. Johann and August Herman I have no records for although they were. alive in 1915. I believe thay had no children. I found several Bonness's in Treptow, Kr Greifenberg.

I am a descendent of Charles Boness (son of August and Lena). According to the marriage certificate for Charles Boness and Lilly Denny, Lena's maiden name is Caroline Lemerich. Charles had 3 children, 2 of whom (Sadie and Joseph) survived to adulthood. Charles is out of the picture by 1900 . . . Lilly lists herself as a widow in 1900 census in Eau Claire. Not sure if Charles died or abandoned the family. Lilly changed her name to Bonness (double n) not long afterwards and moved to live with her uncle in Milwaukee, where she died in 1919. Her son, Joseph Bonness (nee Boness) married and had 6 children, >40 grandchildren.

Looking to connect with these families. Richard was married to Margarethe Hilbert Boness who died March 3, 1968 at the age of 65. They had two daughters, Gisela married Harald Lerche and Erika married John Scheu.

He had a brother, Alfred married to Johanna Schmidt and had a son, Horst. The were my ggrandfather's nephews.

I also have Boness relatives. I believe there were some of them in the Willow Springs/Lemont area. My grandmother was Esther Boness and her father William Boness. In researching my Boness family in Queens NY, I found two females with the name Anna Boness in Brooklyn in the 1900 census.
1-Anna Boness age 7, daughter of John 58 and Mary 35
2-Anna D. Boness age 29, wife of John I. Boness 32, mother of Sarah 12, William 8, Grace 6, John 4 and Samuel 2.
This info is available through HeritageQuest online database through public library. Hope this helps.

My great-grandmother was Anna Margaret Yaeger Boness of Brooklyn. Her children were Anna Katherine, Anna Elise, Anna Marguerite and Richard Boness. My Father Had Cusins in Chicago His name was Charles Boness and his fathers name was Herman Boness and then my father had an Aunt Marie but i forget her last name and i think she lived in chicago as well i remember visiting her after my fathers passing in a chicago nursing home my father pass away when i was six so i really never got any stories about the family My Father Was Raised In whitehall michigan i know i gave such breif details but if anyone has anything historic that links to any of them it would be so great because im am the last of all the men on that side of the family so its up too me to keep the name living

HI- My great aunt was Maybelle Ursula Boness, born 1889 in Heathland (St. Stephens) New Brunswick. She was the daughter of Charles Edgar Boness and Ivane Doten. She was married to Thomas McLeod who drowned during a log drive on the Machias river. She died in 1987 in Orono, Maine.

My info conforms to yours; Ferdinand Knoll was from Woedtke (near Greifenburg) and came to the US already married to Augusta Boness c. 1878. They are both buried at Kanawha, Iowa; they are my GGgrandparents. If you locate Augusta's parentage please do let me know. Do your records indicate that Ferdinand's father was Martin Gottleib Knoll, married to Fredericke Louise Toebe? Any further info on them?

Seeking any information or connections to my great grandfather, John Boness. He was born in Stettin, Pommern, Germany on 22 Feb 1856. His father was listed as Charles on his marriage certificate and Albert on his death certificate. Mother listed as Louise Kerbe. His death certificate in 1942 indicates he had been in the country for 63 years which means he came to US approximately 1879. I have been unable to document his immigration. He was a tool and die maker. He had a brother, Richard, who remained in Stettin but lost contact with him during WWII. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Born abt 1879. Living in Western Australia in 1915 when she married Percy Michael Anderson. She was widowed in 1916 when Percy was killed at the Battle of Fromelles WW1.

Marriage certificate lists her father as George Arthur Boness (deceased) and her mother as Sophie Pluckrose. However, the oath of consent states Sophia's mother as Sophie Baker so she may have remarried.

Sophia Alice lived in Perth in Hector Street, Osborne Park until at least 1924. There the trail stops.

I have both Griffin (Griffen)and Boness in my familty tree. My immediate interest is in Boness. The connection I have is a Sophia Alice Boness who married Percy Anderson in 1915 in Perth, Western Australia. I have been unabel to find any other record of her. Can you assist?

The Griffin (Griffen) connection is also in Western Australia and is for Owen Griffin late 1800's. He died in 1910. Again any connection for you?

My Grandmother's two sisters both married Boness's who were brothers. There names were Herman Fred and Charles Boness. They were born in Illinois but later moved to Ashland Wisconsin. When they were married to the Hoehne sisters, Henrietta and Anna, they lived in Winnebago County. I would love to here from anybody who knows about these two families.

I have both Hahn's and Boness's my family tree. Both families were from the same general area near Kolberg in Pommern. My great-great-grandfather Carl Hahn was born in a town called Baldekow in 1840, and My great-great-grandfather Hermann Boness was from another nearby town called Garrin. He was born in 1858 to Johann and Maria(Schultz) Boness. Herman also had a brother Ludwig and a sister Caroline who married a Hahn also. Both families settled near Clinton, Wi in the 1870's.

There are also Hahns and Boness's in the Watertown, WI area that are from the same areas as mine are from. Not sure how they are related though

Where in Wisconsin did your Boness relatives live? My great-great grandfather Herman Boness came to Clinton, Wisconsin from Garrin, Kolberg, Pommern which is just up the road from Simoetzel a few miles. Herman's parent's were Johan and Maria (Schulz). He had a brother Ludwig/Louis and a sister Caroline. I also have some Hahn ancestors from Baldekow which is just accros the Kreiher River from Simoetzel.

I have a William Hermann Boness in my family tree. Mine was born in Clinton, WI on Oct. 5, 1891. His parents were Ludwig and Fredericke (Potratz) Boness and he had 10 brothers and sisters (that I know of). Ludwig died in 1923 near Sharon. Ludwig and my great-great grandfather Hermann Boness were brothers. If you would like any more info let me know.

I am looking for information about Herman Boness of Clinton Wi. He is my Great-Great Grandfather. I'm not sure when he was born, but he married Anna Bruck of Watertown, WI on Aug. 21, 1884 and died on March 17, 1895. He had three daughters Emma (Mrs. Henry Vinz), Laura (Mrs. Albert Hahn Sr. - My great grandmother and great grandfather), and Elsie.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, my grandfather William H. Boness, died in 1945,he lived in Walworth County in Wisconsin, he married Lulu M. Braund, they had four children, three boys Lyle Roger Boness(deceased), Melvin Boness, Donald Boness, and one daughter Darlene Boness. My grandmother died in May of 1975. I would love to hear more about other family members, because I'm just getting into this for my six children and six grandchildren.

Ol, o bisav do meu pai veio da Pomerania, chegou ao Brasil no final do sculo XIX, no sei exatamente o ano, o que sabemos que ele foi contratado pelo governo brasileiro para construir igrejas, ao final gostou do pas e mandou buscar sua esposa e talvz filhos. Sabemos tambm que ele se instalou no Rio Grande do Sul, acreditamos que foi em Santa Cruz do Sul onde uma vez meu pai foi passear e encontrou uma placa em uma igreja com o nome do seu bisav, aps sua morte a famlia se separou e at onde meu pai lembra, seu av veio morar em Santa Catarina jovem. Se algum tiver uma histria parecida por favor entre em contato.
