Hello,

I've been looking for my biological dad Roberto Bonilla, for about 15 years now. I was reading this "Biography of the Bonilla" family in El Salvador..and I just thought of giving this a try who knows maybe someone can help me or knows a Roberto Bonilla. If anyone is willing to help me I would appreciate.

I come from a big family and my family are mostly in massachussetts but I know I have family in california(monterrey bay, san francisco), maryland, texas,canada, and of course el salvador. My el salvador family live where my dad and mom was born in yucuaiquin, el salvador.

my cousins are all over the united states and I mostly know of the ones living here in MA : Jocelyn Bonilla,Henry Bonilla,Wendy Bonilla,Freddy Bonilla, Nancy miranda, erica miranda,alejandro 'alex' miranda,eric yovany hernandez ,lourde hernandez , lorena hernandez,marlenie hernandez , alex perez, emily perez, marvin garay , gelmy noemi garay,yanira bonilla ,rolando bonilla , daniel bonilla, noel bonilla, eduardo bonilla , oneida bonilla, rommel rodriguez , eliezer rodriguez , andres rodriguez , christian bonilla, reynaldo bonilla... most of these cousins are the children of my aunts and uncles mentioned above.
my father's family is mostly Bonilla, so if you have the last name Bonilla and come from La Union in El salvador most likely we are family. my granadmother is from the perez-mejia family

Hi, I live in New York, my cousin who is 19 lives here in New York also. My dads side of the family is from La Union, my cousins name is Manuel Bonilla, his mom is Eneyda Karina Romero and she was married to his father whos name I do not know, but his last name is Bonilla. He goes to see his father in La Union every time he goes to El Salvador. This December he and our family will be going to Los Jiotes,La Union,El Salvador.

Hi this is so exciting because I also cone from a huge family. Ive been wanting to find out more about my history and know more about my grandparents through my moms side. My grandpas name was Candelario Bonilla who may rest in heaven was married to my grandma Maria Alvarez. My grandpa had a brother named Manuel and a sister named Olimpia. "lichita" sounds very familiar. I will ask my mom more. And FYI i do live in California Monterey bay! Salvi all the way! All my FAM is also from La Union.

Jose, I was born in a house on the corner of Meta and Ventura Blvd. in Ventura in 1934. As For Bonilla's well I found a very very long history on this ancestry under the name of Bonilla from Jerez de Garcia Salinas IN ZACATECAS, MEXICO The main name is Escoboto. If you are interested, I will find it again and tell you where it is. I am sure it is under Gullermo Bonilla. Alvina Bonilla.

hi I dont know if we may be related but I know that I have tons of family in california also texas, indiana,maryland and even canada. well my father is robel s bonilla, grandfather was efrain bonilla who married felicita mejia and my dad's siblings are mabel hernandez,carmen miranda,amilcar bonilla and most of my family comes from el salvador except in the la union area and san miguel. I think pretty much all bonillas are family with my grandfather.

I am Alvina Bonilla. My grandfather was Roman Bonilla. I know he had siblings but not their names. His father was Nicanor Bonilla and mother Maria mercedes Gutierrez. The lived in Paso Hondo. Cueramero, Gunajuto mex. Now Roman was born in 1867? in Paso Hondo. This seems close enough so that by 1875 his parents could have moved. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Or Dec 2 1875, his name is Marcial Bonilla and is parents names are Panfilo Bonilla and Petra Castaneda. My grandfather, Roman Bonilla was Born in Paso Hondo, Cueramaro, Guanajuto Mexico in 1866. His father was Nicanor Bonilla who married Maria mercedes Guitierrez from La Capilla, Gto. Roman was my fathers' father, Mauro Bonilla. Mauro moved to Ventura California around 1915.

I am a Bonilla that was born in Ventura Ca. There are several still living there. My father, Mauro Bonilla came from Guanajuto in 1914. He was born in Cueramaro, Mex in 1897.

Are you still searching for information on the Bonilla family? My uncle was Bill Bonilla Sandoval and he was stationed in Germany but NOT born in CA to the best of my knowledge. His family was from Aguascalientes, Mexico. I know he had a brother but not much else.

My name is Alvina Bonilla. My Bonilla family left Guanajuto Mexico in 1914 and settled in Ventura, California. My uncle Martin Bonilla worked for a ranch there in the late 1920s but was killed by a train in 1925. He left five children who all remained in Ventura. If you want any other information please ask. Yes Katherine, we got home safe and well. We have a home in Puerto Vallarta. The only dangerous places are at the border states, Mexico City and the state of Sinaloa. There are places there where the drug lords live a plush life. I did not get to Guanajuto as my husband is not well and traveling was something we could not do . . . next fall we will be back to Mexico.

Yes, We got home safe. There is no reason to fear Mexico. The danger is on the border states and Mexico City and parts of the state of Sinaloa where the drug lords have great homes. I find Santa Fe, New Mexico much more dangerous we have gangs and murder all the time.

Well, what I know about the Bonilla's is that My Great Grandfather was Nicanor Bonilla, who lived in El Rancho de Paso Hondo in and around Cueramaro Gto, who married Maria Mercedes Guitirrez. They had children but the only one I know of was my grandfather, Roman Bonilla who married my grandmother, Maria Munoz. They were both born around 1885 in Guanajato, Mex. Again, I know they had Children but the only ones I know of are Martin Bonilla who was born early 1800s. He he moved to Ventura California at or around the revolution. He had five children My father, Mauro Bonilla was Born in 1897. Then they had a daughter who was born around 1908. I am named after her.Roman died in 1911. He was kicked in the chest by a horse he was "breaking". Maria and Mauro and Alvina left Cueramao Gto in 1914 because of the same revolution. Theylanded in Ventura then moved to Santa Barbara where I was raised. The first Alvina died in 1930. Mauro married Margaret Castelo who was born in Alamogordo New Mexico and they had four children. The rest will come later.

Dear Susana, I wish I coulc say YES. But My Bonilla relatives, as far back as I can say,came from Guanjuto or Jalisco. Nicanor and Roman and Mauro are from the early or mid 1800s Mauro, my father came to U.S. in 1914. Good Luck.

Bonillas in Colombia

I want to inform you that our book “Historia y Genealogía de las Familias Bonilla Meléndez y Galvis” has been uploaded to Internet. The Internet version has been modified to fit the format of “El Libro Total” which actually is the company that printed the book last year.

In this book you will find the history and genealogy of the Bonillas in Colombia starting with the first Bonilla that moved from Spain to Colombia.

The Internet version of the book is quite particular, after you enter the book and go to the index you can go to the chapter desired. Initially the text does not include any figures or pictures. When there is an image associated with the open text you will see a tab “Imagenes”, when you click the tab, the text corresponding to available images is highlighted, when you click the highlighted text the corresponding images will appear. You can enlarge the images by clicking the images.
