My former husband's father was named Jack Booker and he was from Yorkshire. He was born in 1918. His wife's name was Elsie Louie Binns and she was born in 1927 in Thirsk, Yorkshire. They emigrated to Australia in around 1964. We're trying to find out more information about the Bookers too.

Bookers of Arkansas and Tennessee

I'm interested in Joseph Booker, b. ca. 1795, who appears in the census for Franklin co. AR in 1850. Is he the Joseph P. Booker who appears in Tipton co. TN in 1840 and 1830 (but not in 1850)? There are some trees on ancestry.com that refer to Joseph Parham Booker, son of Edmund and Mary (Pride) Booker of Amelia co. VA. Is this the Tipton co. Joseph P.? These trees give little information about Joseph Parham Booker except that he was b. ca. 1795, d. 1855 (no place indicated), married Ann Catherine Winfree.

The Joseph in Franklin co. AR is married to a Margaret, but it appears to be a second or third marriage for her, and so possibly also for him. He appears to have died between 1850 and 1860.

The ancestry trees also indicate a sister of Joseph Parham Booker named Elizabeth, but no further information. There is, in the Franklin co. census of 1850, an Elizabeth Elliott living near the Joseph and Margaret Booker, whom I believe may be a sister of this Joseph.

Does anyone have any information that might shed light on all these relationships? Thanks!

Richard Johnson

Hello,

I am looking for anyone who is related to a Susan Russell. She was called Susie. Susie's parents were James and Sallie Russell. Susie lived in Lexington, MS. She married a Booker around the late 1880s or early 1890s. She had a daughter named Pearlie (not sure of the spelling). Pearlie died in 1955 in Saint Louis. If anyone has any information, please contact me.

My father was Rom (Granville Romulus) .... youngest of the Booker children. I was born in 1945 and also spent parts of several summers with Tom and Catherine in the the 50's. I suspect it's possible that I was there at some times when your mother was ..... I remember a girl younger than I being there at times. What was your Mom's name? The farm itself was actually owned by my father and was sold several years after Tom and Catherine passed away. I have many fond memories of Catherine .... a rather remarkable woman for her time and place.

Hi John,
I am a descendant of Richard Jr.
Jr.emigrated first to Australia and then to Wisconsin where he farmed. He didn't stay too many years in Wisconsin before moving to Chicago (apparently to live near his daughter Margaret. I descend from Richards son Henry Cala Booker. Henry met and married Rose Grant in Whitewater Wisconsin. 11 months later my grandfather was born. Shortly after that Henry abandoned his family and moved from Wisconsin first to Nebraska, and then to Greeley Colorado where he lived until his death in 1931.

I would certainly love to hear any history you have discovered. For instance, I know Richard Sr.had several children, but I haven't found any names or dates.

Its great that you found my post and responded. If you like, please keep in touch.

Regards,
Jon Booker

Jon,
I have been looking for descendants of Richard for a long time. To which of his children are you related? I am familiar with the descents of the other brothers of Josias Booker and I have spent a long time researching their business in Demerara.

I understand that Richard jr went to Wisconsin. Anything you can add would be much appreciated.
John

Missing Son of Jason R Booker, James Jackson Booker, left Roswell never to return. He married and had a family on the West Coast. He told his family that he was disowned from the family. He passed away in 1927 and his Grandson would like to hear what happened if any relatives are around that might know the story. It has always been a mystery to him. He would love to know who this part of his family is and their history. Can e-mail to megaheart@sbcglobal.net Thank you

INTERESTING POSTING! I just put up a posting re: any native AMERICAN INDIAN Bookers! So yes---everyone was/is related--white, black, indian, etc. My line of Bookers are native Am. INDIAN.
In fact if one looks up various unusual or uncommon last names on the Indian Census (Dawes Rolls, for example) you will find TONS of BOOKERs.
Mine also came INTO TN from VA....my Jane Booker married Abel HANKINS Jr. and their son THOMAS WEST HANKINS was b. in KNOXVILLE TENN in 1830. So no doubt---i'd bet most Bookers would be in some way related---due last name is not so common---and all seem to have come from VA into TN, and many whites mixed w/their black slaves, as did whites mixed w/Indians in the area, and Indians took in the Blacks, and so forth. History is filled w/fun MYSTERIES isn't it? And as the LAKOTA (Sioux) say....MITAKUYE OYASIN....(We are ALL RELATED!!)...BYE FOR NOW---diane (spencer)

Hello to all the booker family, My name is Marcus Booker. To start off heres a run down of my side of the booker family that I came accross.

My great great grandad was named William booker who had a son named Richard Booker Sr, my great granddad. Richard Booker had 21 children, 11 by his first wife and 10 by his second wife, which means theres 2 sets of booker familys. My granddad just passed away last year he was 95, he was the child born in the 2nd family. heres the second family names.

my grandad Ralph henry Booker
brothers: Ben Booker, Bobby Booker, Richard Booker Jr, Howard Booker and (Herbert Booker which was the first child from Richards first wife.
Sisters: Ruth Booker, Eva Mae Booker, Lena Booker, Christine Booker, and Mable Booker.

All of them are decesed except for my great aunt Eva mae Booker. She's 85 and I just went to go see her yesterday.

This Booker family came from Wilkes County Wachington GA, and most of them scattered out out through VA, TX, GA,

If anyone wants to see how my granddad looks go to findagrave.com and type in Ralph Henry Booker, State Indiana

I also have a few pics of Richard Booker Sr he was a slave.

Booker is not a common name! So I'm quite sure we are all related black and white because Richards grand mother was white and I think her name was Fanny.

So if you hold the last name Booker believe me we are related somehow. My side of the family is putting together an family reunion for the booker family so please please please help us find alllll our family. if your a booker you are family somehow and we will find out together. I love you all please go to face book and search for booker reunion 2012 and like" and comment to help find all the booker family and get the reunion together. Thx

John Victor BOOKER from England

I have been trying to trace my paternal grandfather for many years but without success. Recently with the new Death Register I was able to obtain a copy of a death certificate for a John Victor Booker where the facts seem to fit my father's side of the family. I am hoping this is the correct person as his wife and children all left him one evening and nothing further was heard about him after that. My JVB was married to Eliza Warwick and their children were Edward John(born before they married), Dorothy Ivy,John Victor (my father), Alfred Arthur, Laura Grace,Robert Charles and May Dorothy. The death certificate shows JVB died of Broncho pheumonia on December 12, 1945 in St Giles Hospital, Camberwell, London, aged 64. He lived at 22 Sylvan Grove, Camberwell and was a retired sawyer. The informant of his death is given as A. Reading - Brother in Law - of 12 Harcourt Road, S.E.4 I do not know of an A.Reading but am hoping that this death certificate could be for my grandfather. Does anyone have any information that might help me.

James L. Booker, Archie Booker's father, was a brother to my William L. Booker. They were sons of Jason H. and Catherine Booker and grandsons of Abraham M. and Keziah Booker, early settlers in east Texas. I have more information on these Bookers I would be happy to share with you in exchange for more on Archie's family.
PattiBates@aol.com
