Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am checking into my family tree and I found out that my grandfather was in some way related to the Boots Chemist. I was wondering if anyone knew the family tree from Jesse Boot to more current times? From what I was told my great grandfather came over from England to Canada. From what I was told he was bought out from his brothers (could be wrong). He also changed his last name too Bootes when he moved to Canada. His name was Clarence Boot and I believe (could be wrong) that his fathers name was Albert or George Boot.

I have Boot ancestors from Dudley, England from a Daniel Boot, born in 1827 who married Elizabeth Perkins in 1818. Does this ring any bells with you? The tree was researched and compiled by my uncle in the 1980s, and lacks a lot of information, so I´d be interested in who you have from Dudley, and if they are related to my ancestors.
Sarah.

Probably not Mary - I haven't traced any Boot ancestors who emigrated. Thou I have only gone back to 1825 so there may be some earlier generations yet to be linked who did emigrate.

Jacob Boot married Johanna Mak in Pella, Marion County, Iowa 19 March, 1878. They had three children - Hattie, born around 1878-79, Katherine E. "Kate", born in April 1880, and Robert Edward, born around 1886 in St. Louis, Missouri. Robert is my maternal grandfather. He married Margaret Barrett. Together they had two children, Willard born around 1919 in New York, and my mother Margaret Mary, born in 1922. Jacob and Johanna americanized their name to Boat, and their children were named Boat rather than Boot. Are you related?

Hi Sian
My Great-great Grandfather was Richard Boot b.1834 South Normanton Derbyshire. He had brothers Thomas, Henry and Samuel and sister Elizabeth. I believe your Thomas is my Great-great Grandfather's brother. Richard's parents were indeed Richard Boot and Elizabeth Boot (nee Wood)I think but not sure if this was her maiden name. On the 1851 Census my Richard was 18 and a Coal Miner, as was his dad Richard, and your Thomas 14 an Iron Stone Mason so this definately looks as if we are with the same family, how exciting!
If you have any information then it would be gratefully received. I now need to find out information on Richard & Elizabeth, born 1800 and 1801 respectively as they are my (and your) Great-Great-Great Grandparents :) Hope to hear back from you although I know your post was quite a number of years ago.

Margaret, greetings. I am a descendent of Rebecca Boot's parents. I have a few pages of a document titled "Letters written by Rebecca Boot," the introduction of which states that Mary Bowman Boot, born 1837, had written a letter on 16 Oct 1864 about the conditions encountered by her brother Robert and his cousin -- my GG Grandfather and Rebecca's nephew -- in farming their 180 acres. Additionally, the same intro states Elizabeth Webster Boot, b. 1841, wrote a letter of 13 Jan 1867 concerning her cousin Joseph's move to the US.

So two questions:
1) Can I see your research on Rebecca's ancestry and;
2) Assuming you might be descended from her, would you have these letters?

Kind regards,

Brian
Wisconsin

Information Request on: WILLY BOOT? Pommern, Germany, pre 1945 (Neustettin area)

Information Request on:
WILLY BOOT? Pommern, Germany, pre 1945 (Neustettin area)
(now, Szczecinek, Zachodniopomorskie, Poland)

Willy Boot was ‘adopted’ by the Kroll side of my family and lived in the part of Pommern which is now in Poland. I believe from the stories passed down to me that he originated from Russia and arrived in Germany by boat when he was young, and as a result the family gave him the name ‘Boot’ (the German for Boat) which eventually became his surname. The family had adopted other children as well, but I have no knowledge of them. The time period in question is 1900 to 1945 and I think the family was called Strall during that period (Strall message board), but the adopted children may not have used this surname. As far as I am aware the children were not officially adopted, but I am unaware of the procedures at the time. I would be interested to know if there are any surviving descendants from these children as they could possess vital ancestral information. If you recognise any of these details, or suspect a connection may exist, please contact me. I would like my knowledge confirmed if possible as the details I have supplied are vague and uncertain.

In 1945 the family was dispersed and most were 'lost' during the chaos of the German evacuation as the Russian Army advanced across the area towards Berlin, or, possibly, when the post war ethnic expulsions occurred. I know some ended up in the west and would like to find out where, and what became of them.

Paul

Email: paulsteven.kroll@hotmail.co.uk

I have included this computer translation of the above text although it probably will not be very accurate, so I apologise for that, however, it may make things a bit easier. You can reply in German if you wish.

Informations-Antrag an:
WILLY BOOT? Pommern, Deutschland, vor 1945 (Neustettin Bereich)
(jetzt, Szczecinek, Zachodniopomorskie, Polen)

Paul

Email: paulsteven.kroll@hotmail.co.uk
I am in desperate need of a Death/Burial lookup.

Michael BOOT born abt. 1645, Wilne Derbyshire

His wife is Ellen JAMES and they were married on 1 Nov 1671, Church Wilne.

Children :
Michael c.21 Jul 1672, Wilne
Joseph c.9 May 1674, Wilne
Gervas c.10 Jan 1676, Wilne
Edward c.20 Nov 1679, Wilne d.19 Nov 1681

I am hoping that Michael BOOT b.1645 died and was buried at Wilne too (as the family seem to have lived there for many years).
I would only be able to guess a year around 1715ish, in hopes that he may of had a good long life to 70 years but he may have died younger or older. sorry for a very vague year)
I would greatly appreciate any info.

Many thanks

I am looking for members of the Boot family who lived in Quorndon at the time of the 1841 census. The family I have include:
Joseph and his wife Millicent(nee Bell) boot and their children Robert, James, sarah, George, Ellen and infant Joseph. The line I am researching descends from Robert b. 1828. I have not been able to odentify Joseph's parents.

I can not go back beyond Joseph Boot (b.1795) who married Millicent Bell. I have her parents and I have the Boot children and the generations up to today's time. Some of their children were: Robert (the line I am following), James,Sarah, George, Ellen & Joseph. In the 1841 census, Joseph (mispelled as Bort) is 45 and he and family are registered in Barrow Upon Soar Quorndon District. Joseph was born in Leicestershire.Does this Joseph fit in at all with your Boot line?

My grandfather was born in Rilland, Netherlands in February of 1896, and came to Wisconsin, via Canada, working as a dairyman. He had 11 brother and sisters. We believe he came when he was 18, and came on an uncle's boat. We don't know what his birth name was, or what name he was "given" when he came into Canada. We don't know where in Canada he was processed. Unfortunately, before he passed away, he had a stroke, and we were unable to find out any more information. I'm interested in finding any relatives from Holland, or any that also immigrated to the U.S. Here in the US, he was Frank Booth, and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, working as an antique dealer.

Hello.

I'm writing in response to your message regarding Mary Boot and George Marsden. I realise that this message was left over 6 years ago but I hope you receive my reply anyway!

Mary Boot and George Marsden were my Great Great Great Grandparents. They had a son called George William Marsden (b1869) who married Elizabeth (b1865). They had a daughter called Mabel (b1898) who married Ernest Wright. They had a son called Cyril Ernest Wright who married Gladys Keech. They had a daughter called Gwendolyn Patricia who is my Mum!

It would be lovely to get in touch and add some more branches to each others family trees. If you want to give me your email address we could do this privately instead of through Ancestry.com where it can be read by everyone!!!!

Thanks.
A. Turner.

I am now struggling with finding him as i feel i have covered most avenues.
again thankyou very much for your time.

Regards Rob

My 14 yr old son is adoped and I have an open relationship with his birth family. I have done all the researching on his family from the info they provided and I probably have more info on his lines than on my own as his lines have been in the US for a much longer time in some instances.

I can understand your search. I have done the search so my son will have it in the future when he may want or need it. Have you contacted the adoption agency to see if you can get a copy of your records or at least put in a letter stating that you are willing to be contacted by anyone in the birth family? Contacting that RAF assn, especialy if you know when and where he served, might be a good source.Do you live in or near London? You might be able to put in an ad in the London papers. You might be able to mass mail a letter to anyone listed with a Boot's surname to see if you can find anyone in his family that might be able to help you.

I hope this is helpful to you in your search.

BOOT family

I have taken my Boot family back to 1620's after finding 1 vital piece of info from the wirksworth DBY site given in INCE'S pedigrees. Thet state that Jarvis Boot b abt 1743 married A female Bagshaw and that the children of this marriage are also listed including my direct line who is Henry Boot b abt 1772 (known as Harry (even on the 1841 census) and a christening on IGI listing his parents as Jarvis and Mary)
IGI shows Mary Bagshaw married Jarvis Boot in Wirksworth even tho he was a LEIC man, which has now taken the family into Derbyshire. Mrs Cheattle's will states that Jarvis was from Leicester and that Mary Bagshaw is one of the neices and nephews who inherited the cheatle fortune. On looking through various IGI parish registers transcripts etc I think that Jesse Boot's line comes from John BOOT and Sarah PEDLEY , John was the son of Jarvis and Mary, he went to Nottingham when he married Sarah and I think perhaps that they were the beginning of the BOOT dynasty. Does anyone else have similar findings?
To my line this would be such a distant line to the BOOT empire but I hope this info might point others in the direction they need.
I have not as yet proved that Jesse Boot comes from John BOOT and Sarah Pedly line yet..... this is my theory which I am working on at the moment.
