Isaac Bourdeaux mulatto child

Does anyone know what happened after the 1818 will of Isaac Bordeaux (sister Elizabeth Martha Bordeaux married Stephen Alexander Juhan in Charleston in 1792) His will left his estate to his mulatto son, Lincoln and to the children of his deceased sister, Elizabeth Martha Juhan. I know that her husband at first protested the will and tried to stop probate but then a few months later he withdrew his objections. I can find nothing more but am curious if the will was probated and the bequests to his mulatto son Lincoln were honored.

Thanks, Sandy floridapoet65@yahoo.com

Louis Bordeaux and Susanne Guyor

I am researching Louis Bordeaux who married Susanne Guyor. I would like to know what proof there is of Louis being born in Detroit or Canada as some family trees show. I understand he was born in France as indicated in the book "History of the Bordeaux Family" written by Isabelle Bordeaux Robison. I have also found census records of Louis' sons which also give their fathers place of birth as France. Family stories tell of Louis coming to America aboard the ship "La Victoire" in 1777 with the Marqis Jean Lafayette. Can anyone show otherwise????

My husband's great grandfather is Franklin Pierce Bordeaux, his grandfather is Joe Bordeaux. I would love to find some history about Joe Bordeaux. All we know is that at some point he was married to Loula Jane Johnson and had two daughters, Sara Jo and Doris (Dot). Loula left and came to California with the daughters, and as far as I know had no contact with Joe until Sara visited him in the late fifties or early sixties. I'd like to know when Joe and Loula were married and when (and why) they divorced, as well as some direction to look for information beyond Franklin.

I traced my great grandfather to Bordeaux, France; his name was Walter George Chavannes, born in 1862. He took the ship Nortonian from France to New Orleans, Louisianna, USA, and went on to Jamaica, West Indies where he married and had a family. I am looking for his siblings, brothers, sisters, and, if possible, his parents. I am hoping someone out there can help me. Thanks.

As this thread began with a post by Amy Bishop Flowers, I am posting this as a follow-up connection, and looking for others who may share her lines. I am not in her direct line (recent first: Giles Lamont Bordeaux.b1892,Francis Marion B.b1842,Daniel J B.b1819Moses Treadway B.b.c1791,Daniel B.b 1745,Anthony.b.bet1708-1716,Anthoine DeBourdeaux.b.c1687,Jacques "James" DeB.b.bet1630-1640,Evremond Purcell DeB.b.unknown,Pierre DuBourdeaux.b.unknown).

However, I am cousin 4-removed from John James Bordeaux (also James or James John) 1822-1870 md. to Rebecca Priscilla Lamb.

This John James, was born in NC, not France...in answer to a post further down the thread.

John James' aunt, Mary Hendry, sister to Hannah Jean, is my ggg-grandmother. I noticed also further down this thread a post about James md. Rebecca Priscilla b.1829 with her parents listed as Jong Lamb & Rebecca Carroll. A mention of gravestones may provide some light...and yet could be misleading. Either her parents are not these, or some errors have been made in family records along the way.

I show Rebecca Priscilla Lamb' mother Rebecca as married twice, to John Lamb and to Thomas Carroll (order not given). If Rebecca P. shows in someone's records as having a mother of Rebecca Carroll, it is apparently her married name.

I show John Lamb & Rebecca Bass (which may be Rebecca Bass Carroll) as having the following children: George Washington, Mariah Adaline, Catherine Eliza, Thomas Carroll "Big Tom" ("Little Tom", Thomas Edward his cousin, is my ancestor), and Rebecca Priscilla.

We miss you Amy (1955-2000)...your sweet spirit and helpfulness.

couchdouglas@aol.com

Old Bordeaux Washington - A Logging Town That's Now Just A Memory

The town isn't there anymore, but the memories live on. The town was located in Thurston County, just south of Olympia, WA. The town was named for the men who had a mill and logging company there. They were from Canada. If you are familiar with this town, or have family members who used to live there, please come and visit the site, share your memories and photos and let's get to know one another. This is a free site to join, no gimmicks or anything. You do have to ask to join and answer an easy question. My parents both grew up in this town, and that's my connection to it. The mill closed in 1941 and the town no longer exists.

http://www.myfamily.com/site/oldbordeauxwa/

I have now found that they spelled Bordeau 3 ways, so confusing. Spelled Bordox on Almina's wedding cert., Bordeaux in census and without the 'x', then her first name as well on marriage cert was Adnas, census Odinas and or Mary in different year. Then I found in city directory she is listed as Mary O.. So confusing.

So anyone have information on these names seem to be either from Canada, Malone, NY Springfield Massachusetts or West Springfield, Massachusetts. Thank your any possible information.

Al Maynard - almaynard@iqmail.net

She married William Hilburn and gave birth to my grandmother Olla Hilburn who married Walter Hobbs, Sr. I show Catherine born in Pender County, NC and died Columbus County, NC.

Hello everyone:

I am planning the Baxley & Bordeaux 2nd family reunion. Both families originate from Bladen Co, NC and cross over in marriage at some point in history. I have very limited history with respect to my mother's family (Bordeaux). Her father's name was Abraham Lincoln Bordeaux, Born approx. 1900, died in 1960; He was married to Zell Ester Sykes-Bordeaux. His parents: Bill and Kate Bordeaux. I have no history beyond g-grandpa Bill.

Baxley history: My gg-grandparents were Daniel (DOB around 1823)and Lavina Baxley; My g-grandpa was their son, John Wesley Baxley, married to Lucy Jane Richardson-Baxley; my grandfather was Arise Rufus Baxley. I have very little information about Grandpa Daniel. Iam not sure that he was actually born in NC. His family may have been slaves.

If anyone can provide additional information, it would be greatly appreciated.
Actually, in the 1850 Census of Attala County, MS, the entry is for J. J. BORDEAUX, and they had two children in NC: Margaret, b. about 1846; and Mary C., b. about 1848. Their next child, Hannah, was born in MS and was 9/12 years old in the 1850 Census. This would mean they traveled to MS in 1848 shortly after the birth of Mary C. Hannah was my wife's greatgrandmother.
In the 1870 Census of Attala County, MS, the entry is for Jno (abbreviation for John) J. BORDEAUX. We believe the initial "J." was for James.
If I can be of further assistance, my new e-mail address is: wrenner@bellsouth.net.

I got interested in the "Dicey" name, sometime ago and found that it was a very common nickname for women of that era, based on a charcter in a very popular stage show. Samuel Herrings daughter was almost certaainly married to WM L Bourdeaux, formerly of Long Creek Community in what is now Pender County, but prior to 1875 was part of New Hanover County. The migrated to Copiah County MS in 1845 and were followed after the War Between the Staes by their son (John R and his wife Catherine A Pickett and children). THey show up in the 1870 census.
