Thanks Dave. Yes, you are right it is not easy. But I have been lucky in finding 3 lots of cousins on different sides of the family so far in the past two years. I think it helps if you have some background information. We knew nothing of Grandma's background - didn't even know she was adopted.
Thanks,
Eileen McParland.

I cannot locate these names on my tree, but my great great grandfather was born in Middlesex at Marylebone in 1836 and he married and went to live in Bristol. His father was Joseph and mother Eliza. Joseph was born in 1814 in Thoyden Essex, which I believe is where all the Borehams came from originally and there is a place called Boreham in Essex. They seemed to move round a bit. the men seem to have been carpenters. Interestingly my father, uncle and brother were also carpenters.
i am looking for information on my grandmother's adoptive mother helen Boreham who married Walter Murray.
Eileen McParland.

Harriet Mary Ravensdale was my grandmother. She died in Leicester I believe in 1968 while living with her daughter (Christine Pinnock) I remember the family residing at 4, Hillway, Highcroft, Oadby, Leicester during the sixties. I am sure that you have found out a lot since your post five years ago. I am the only son of Kenneth, her youngest son and your husband must be one of my cousins.
I have a vast photo collection in my loft and I am now inspired to get it out and start checking.
If I can be of further help please contact me. Kind regards, Graham.

There is a Henry Boreham, baptised 9th November 1845 at Brockley, Suffolk. His parents are Robert and Susanna and they had least four other children Mary Ann (bap 1831), William (bap 1834), Elizabeth (bap 1837) and Caroline, baptised at the same time as Henry. Could this be the one you are loking for?
Andrew Radgick

My maiden name was Felthouse and I have some information on some of my ancestors from Onecote, Sraffordshire and the Leeds areas. I was fortunate to contact a distant relative in Englend some years ago, but unfortunately he passed away and therefore I know very little. Felthouse is an unusual name and I understand that it has been traced back in my family for many hundreds of years to a man in the priesthood by the name of Feltoes. I would be very glad to hear from you.

Re: Borehams in Suffolk

Document 1: By Jeff Boreham
Searching for the parents of my G.G. Grandfather George Boreham was born in Essex, London England between the years of 1810 – 1812. George Boreham is the son of William Boreham and Mary Powell.
The California State Capital has record of George Boreham was born in Woodford, Essex, England, December 16, 1810. He grew up there, from childhood to manhood, learning the blacksmith trade, until 1848, when he came to New York. He is said to open up a blacksmith shop there for one year, when he started for California on the steamer "Crescent City," in December, 1849, coming via the Panama route, on the Steamer "Crescent City", finally arriving in San Francisco February of 1850. Later, in 1850, he went to Mexico, locating at a village known as Los Angeles, near San Miguel. On 27 August 1853, he married Dona Louisa Guanig Hidalgo. In 1854, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, and later - about 1862 - to San Bernardino, CA, where they owned considerable property. In late 1865, they sold their property and moved north to Petaluma, CA, where they remained for two years, and from there to Nicasio, CA, where they settled.

My father was told by his Uncle Roland Stanford Boreham there is a Boreham estate in England. Uncle Roland passed away many years ago and I haven't been able to get any information from his sons Roland Stanford Jr. nor James Boreham nor Howard Boreham.

I have researched and verified George Boreham and wife Louisa had eleven surviving children born to George and Luisa Boreham as follows: William John Boreham, George Boreham, Mary Ellen Boreham, Margarita Antonia Boreham, Lucinda (Victoria) Boreham, Edward David Boreham, Charlotte Marie Boreham, Emma Louisa Boreham, Charles Alfred Boreham, George Francis Boreham, Benjamin Franklin (Joseph) Boreham. All of the above children of George and Louisa Boreham were born in California U.S.A.
George Boreham, was one of the early blacksmiths of San Bernardino, so I imagine my G.G. Grandfather learned his trade from his father in London England.

EMMA BOREHAM, my great grand mother was born in Hawstead Suffolk in 1838 and her father was William Boreham, farm Labourer.( Ref: Emma's marridge certificate) The next reliable information is her illigimate child George born in 1860 born near Sandbach, Cheshire.
George was fostered by Samuel and Mary A Pickering (Mary A was also born in Hawstead, Suffolk). George is shown as a nephew. (So is it possible Mary A is Emma's sister ?)
The 1881 census shows Emma living in Wheelock, Cheshire having married Samuel Stubbs, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
D.Boreham

Hi.

I'm looking for information on Annie Ravensdale and her parents Joseph and Harriet. I noticed a Harriet Ravensdale was mentioned in your message and was wondering if you could find any connection.

Annie Ravensdale (married name Pryor) my gg grandmother died in Griffith, NSW Australia in 1932. I haven't been able to find any birth details on her, so am unsure if she was born overseas or not.

On her birth certificate her parents are listed as Joseph and Harriet.

Annie had two children: Ernest, born and died in Sydney in 1884 and Florence, b. 1890 in Sydney d. 1981 in Sydney. Both of these children have no father listed on their birth certificates.

In 1897 Annie married a Patrick Pryor in Sydney.

That's all I know about my Ravensdale's at present. Do you think there is a link?

Regards,
Kerry

My husband's grandfather was William Henry Boreham b. 1896 in Acton Green, Middlesex. He was the son of William Henry Boreham and Alice Wait who married in Hammersmith 26 Dec 1895.
William Henry snr was born 30 Jan 1873 at 6 Holloway Rd, Leytonstone Essex. His parents were Henry Boreham and Eliza Goodey.
Henry Boreham was born in Grays, Essex , son of Nathaniel and Sarah Boreham. I do not seem to be able to get any further back than this. Nathaniel died in Hackney workhouse in 1871 at the age of 79 and (in the 1871 census) his wife Sarah died there also.
Does anyone have any connection to this family?

Hello Moira,

I have been so behind with my research. I apologize for not getting back to you earlier. I can only trace my granfather's name to Sopepa Boreham(e). Unfortunately, I don't know what his dad's first name is, just the last thus Boreham. He travelled from Rarotonga to Tuvalu and married a Tuvaluan woman by the name of Meripa of Nui, Tuvalu. That is all the info I have on my Boreham(e) side. If you know of any Boreham(e) in Raro or NZ with this info. I would be glad to hear from them or you.
Thank you again for responding and again apologies for the very late response.

HJA

My gr-grandfather was Charles John Boreham from Twickenham who immigrated to NZ in 1875.with his wife Jessie Phebey and their two oldest children. HIS father , also Charles came to NZ a year later in 1876 with his wife Phoebe Evans and two youngest sons Frank and Alfred. They put their ages back 10 yrs to get assistance to emigrate! They left at least one son and two daughters back in England. I understand Charles the elder's father was Peter Boreham, a coachman from Ipswich. I'd love to hear from anyone who camn help with this family.

Herenesa, I'd love to know what your Dad's fathers name was. My Uncle was in Fiji and then Canton Is, as it was then, after the war but he didn't marry anyone there. I don't think he was ever in Raro. His wife was there with him in those days and she was a NZer. There are some other Borehams from the South Is. who might be the family you are looking for.
Regards,Moira
