I'm 99% sure that Samuel Bortsfield is my ancestor. His son, Charles Sherman Burchfield was born in Howard County Indiana in 1868. My grandfather, Forest Charles Burchfield, was his son. He died in 1992.

The following is the will of Valentine Rumel as it appears in the CD, Lancaster County Wills 1729-1825, which I have a copy. All of the spellings/misspellings are as they appear.

Surname: Rumel
Given Name: Valentine
Description: Testator
Residence: Manor Twp.
Year: 1816
Prove Dat: 2 Jan 1816
Remarks: Valentine Rumel of Manor Twp. 4 Oct 1811
(my note:this should the date he died ,and the 1811 is possibly really 1815. Submitting the will from the death date should have only taken from October to January, not 5 years later. )

Children: Valentine, Catharine, wife of Conrad Kerrer, Elizabeth, wife of Adam Burtzfield, Sabina, wife of Philip Stech, Louisa, wife of Christian Kneissly, Peter and Frederick.
Grandchild: John Rumel- son of Peter
Ex. (executors) Valentine Runnel (spelling) and Jacob Witmer

Saw your message on info for George Bortzfield for 1700. I am looking for Jacob Botsfield (married Augusta Doehring from Germany about 1880), and I dont have any more info. If you have more current info maybe they could be the same family. Just taking a chance as I, like you, am having a hard time with getting any info on the family. This Botsfield was born in Indiana.

I am looking for information on the parents and other ancesotrs of Samuel Bortsfield (Burchfield). He was born on 2/8/1805 and died on 12/10/1877 in Howard Co, IN. He married Elizabeth Rider on 11/9/1834 in Ross Co, OH.
