Hi again. First let me give you my email - katybud3@aol.com. Please feel free to write directly.

I have never been able to get back to Europe on the Boscawens. The first one I came in contact with was John Boscawen born in the 1770's and died in 1812 in NYC. He is the one who married my Mary Hartman. She was married once before to a Cornelius Vandenburgh so John Boscawen was her 2nd marriage, ca 1800, and they had 6 children by the time of his death in 1812. He was the beginning of my Boscawen research and I do not know who his parents were. George in Oregon told me he had a family tree of the earlier Boscawens but he never knew about my John as the tree his dad gave him didn't go that far forward. He also had never heard the Hartman name so my stuff was news to him.

I have John Boscawen's obituary from 1812 which I will be happy to share and I have the descendants of this John. That is how I connected to the George Boscawen who married twice and this is the guy who I believe is your wife's grandfather or great grandfather. He married first to a Smith with whom he had two sons who died young and then married a second time to a woman very, very much younger than him. I believe your wife descends from one of the children of this 2nd marriage.

Please feel free to email me. I can send you everything I have on this line. My goal is to find the parents of the John Boscawen who died in 1812 and who married my Mary Hartman. George said his father still had documents including the tree, coat of arms, etc. Does your wife have copies? Does she keep in touch with old George?

Linda

I am so happy to hear from you. I did not know about a Jackie, or at least I do not recall one. Somehow I seem to recall the name Cantrell though. Has your wife kept up with the genealogy on her Boscawens? I connected to a George Boscawen, Jr. who said his father was still alive at the time, say about 2005. However, although he promised to share info, I think he must be pretty busy because we never did share our data. He did tell me that his father had a Boscawen family tree, the coat of arms and some other items and he was going to copy them for me. I am sure your wife must know this George. I think he was also in Oregon at one point. Is your wife willing to swap data? I have taken this Boscawen line back quite a ways in NYC and have a tree of John Boscawen who married my Hartman ancestor up to the present time.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Linda - NYC

Hi Gloria. Yes - my Mary Hartman first married Cornelius Vandenburgh. I know they had several children before he died but have never been able to confirm their names. Mary Hartman-Vandenburgh then married John Boscawen and had 5-6 children.

Do you connect to Cornelius Vandenburgh of NYC?

I recently tracked my Boscawen family from NY to CA and am trying to track to living descendants. My earliest family is John Boscawen b. 1767, d. 1812, married 1799 to Mary HARTMAN b. 1772 NY, d. 10/7/1833 NYC. I researched their descendants in the hope of finding additional information on my Hartman family.

Mary and John had 6 children, one of whom was George Boscawen b. 1827 NYC, d. 1914 Bklyn, NY. He married Frances Smith, 30 years his junior, and at times made himself at least 10 years younger. He and Frances had three children: Katherine Boscawen b. abt. 1900 Bklyn, GEORGE BOSCAWEN JR. b. 1/16/1903 Bklyn, d. 8/13/1979 Napa, CA and Lyman Boscawen b. 2/1904, d. 4/1970 Placer, CA.

George Boscawen Jr. married Leona J. SHARPE (b. 7/1/1908 TN, d. 6/26/1979 Napa, CA), and they had three children: Frances L. Boscawen b. abt. 1926 CA, Georgetta Katherine Boscawen b. 10/21/1928 CA and finally George Wm Curtis Boscawen b. 3/14/1936 San Fran, CA. It is with one of these last three descendants I am hoping to make contact. I do not know who they married or whether they had children but it is possible George b. 1936 is still living. I also found a Patsy Boscawen on the SSDI b. 2/13/1940 CA, d. 9/22/2001 Oregon and it is possible she is connected.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who might connect to this family.

My Connection is from the earliest of Vandenburgh settlers. I'm an llth generation Waldron, a direct descendent of Resolved Waldron who is the central character in one of my novels, Manhattan Seeds of the Big Apple. Resolved's grandson, Peter Waldron married Tyyntie Vandenburgh in l698 in NYC-She was the daughter of Cornelius Vandenbergh, who ultimately had properties at Halfmoon, Saratoga Co. Peter and Catherine,Cate (Tryntie ) Vandenburgh had l0 children and l was a son, Cornelius b. l705 who married Jannetie Van Ness. These Dutch families had a tendency to repeat names through generations. You can email me direct at tennake2@aol.com if you would like
Gloria Waldron Hukle
