Emma A. Boston was supposedly married to my great grandfather, Ora Winfield. It shows that they were married in the census, but I can find no signs of divorce from my greatgrandmother Annie L. Bennett. I have seen his stone in the cemetery and her name on it, but she was not buried there..... They lived as man and wife for many years, but looking for documentation of divorce from one and marriage to another....anyone out there have any info about Emma A. Boston. All this in st. Louis.

Can anyone tell me if Hiram Boston (1859) from St. Louis is the father of William Boston (1890ish) of St. Louis?

And was Hiram's father's name Joshua M. Boston who was born in Kentucky (1825ish), but settled in Gasconade County?
Is Joshua the same as "J. M. Boston" or "J. W. Boston" (could be a typo with the middle initial. I am the great grandaughter of William and Frieda Boston - St. Louis.

This is my sticking point and can't seem to get further. Thanks

The name of the Book is "The Boston Family of Maryland" second edition revised with supplement by Mathew M Wise published by The Delmar Company Charlotte, nc 1986.
It is really the descendant of Henry Boston of Maryland can't remember now but Henry was born 1500's or 1600s but some of the relatives could have gone to Delaware. He did try to figure out all lines of Bostons but did not do extensive on all lines but if related to henry he does a per extensive job. My Boston's are not related so do not remember all the details. I found the book at two major Genealogy libraries in my area. I can not get to it because library closed for repairs or would check it out for you. Good luck on your hunt.

Looking for more information on my great-great grandparents
John Boston & Mary Jane Butler. Boston family lived for a time in Wilmington, Delaware (where their child Mary Winifred Boston was born abt 1837) & may have lived there or even been born there. Boston was buried in Loudon Park Cemetary in Baltimore MD 19 July 1905, age 68 (d.17 Jul 1905 - Newcatle, DE)

Mary M. (error - it is W) Valiant is in same plot buried 02 Jan 1899, age 40. Her husband, William Henry Valiant, was born in Maryland abt 1851, died in Wilkinsburg, PA & was buried 19 Feb, 1908, age 57 in the same Loudon Park plot.

Specifically looking for :
1) Any info on John Boston (birthdate, marriage info, death date & locations... also his parents)

2) Any info on Mary Jane Valiant (nee Butler) of DE is greatly appreciated.

3) Any info on Mary Winifred Boston

Thank you!

Joan von Sternberg
I can tell you are on the right track but not sure anyone can help you prove illegimate childrens parents from way back. I will give you information I have and you can ask questions and investigate.
Rebekah Waller married Middleton Barrett 19 Apr 1830 Barren County, Kentucky. the following is abstract of the marriage bond which is not the actual marriage.
"Marriage record between Middletown Barrett & Rebecca Waller. Know all men by these presents that we Middletown Barrett Richard Lamberth are bound unto the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the sum of fifty pounds current money which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and our heirs freely by thein presents sealed and dated the 19th day of April 1830. The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no lawful cause to prevent a marriage intended between Middletown Barrett and Rebekah Waller If therefore there be no lawful cause to prevent the aforesaid marriage then the above obligation to be void else to remain in full force t______??? Signed Middleton Barrett Richard Lamberth.
Rebecca Barrett married Reuben Boston 26 Jun 1852 in Barren County, Kentucky. I will attach a file of this document.
Rebecca died 1 Dec 1874 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. Reuben Boston born 1800 Ablemarle County, Virginia died 19 Oct 1874 Metcalfe KY. Reuben was born to James Ewell Boston (1778-1840) and Nancy Hill. Reuben did have a son Ashel Boston with his first wife Jane Asbury she died before 1840. I do not know what happened to Ashel Boston.
Rebecca Waller was born about 1813 (I have Barren Kentucky not sure on that) and by 1850 census no Middleton but Martha A born 1835 this would be Barren county, Kentucky, Margaret 1838 and James 1841. Ewell is a Boston name it is the middle name of Reuben Boston father. Would not have a clue which Boston would be the father if it is could be just liked the name Ewell since living with Bostons. However the Boston men pictures I Have come across about 50 to 100 on variouis sides and they were good looking men, dark hair and nice features. I have no clue who Buck Boston is. But I have not done too much research on the later Bostons on this side. The AB boston would be Abner Boston born 1805 brother to Reuben who married Rebecca Waller he lived until 1874 and his son was Abner Burton Boston so that is the line where the family is living so their is a chance it was Abner Burton Boston child. Abner Burton was born 5 Mar 1848 in Barren, KY.
I hope this material helps at least you have marriage info and now know if you did not before they were in Barren County, Kentucky which may have leads there. If one could go there maybe in estate or court records they might talk about illegitabe (sp) children.

Margaret left or died soon after Mary Frances was born.

Margaret's sister was Martha. Martha and Margaret's parents were Middleton Barrett and Rebecca Waller/Walker. Rebecca later married a Boston. Martha and Margaret were raised by their grandmother, Rebecca. Martha had an illegitimate son, Ewell. (Another Boston?)

Mary Francess Barrett had an illegitimate daughter, Nina, whose father may be Buck Boston of Metcalf County, Kentucky. Mary Frances married James Luther Sallee in Nov. 1880 in the home of A.B. Boston.

The 1870 Fairview, Metcalf County, Kentucky census shows Ewell, Mary and Martha Barrett living in Reuben and Rebecca's household as servants.

The 1880 Fairview, Metcalf County, KY census shows Mary in the Abna B. Boston household, unmarried with a 2 year old daughter, Nina. James L. Sallee is there, too.

Any information anyone has about this is greatly appreciated!

Phyllis Hargrave

Hi,
This is a photo of my great-grandfather, Joseph William Boston born in England abt.1873. His family was residing in Biddulph, Staffordshire, England in 1881. In 1891,his family shows up in Atherton, Lancashire, England. My great-grandfather arrived in Ellis Island on March 30, 1892 aboard the ship Wyoming. He settled in Scranton, Pennsylvania and worked as a coal miner. I would be very interested to learn if anyone on this board is connected with this Boston family line.
Catherine McNulty Bell
catherinemcnultybell@yahoo.com

Dear Hana Boston

My parents have photos in their home of Hilda and John Boston.
I´m probably one of your Swedish relatives. My name is Barbro Johnsson. I´m a 48 year old woman, living in Simrishamn, a small town in south Sweden.
When I was a child in the sixthies and sevethies my grandmother Amanda Johnsson (1900-1999) showed me pictures of Hilda, her sister and her family in America. I don´t know if Hilda herself sent the pictures or Hildas´s(and Amanda´s) elder cousin Hanna Nygaard sent them with letters because she still remembered Swedish. Amanda did not speak English. Hanna and her husband Anders(Andrew?) Nygaard visited Amanda and Ernst(my grandparents) in 1948 (I think)when my father( Eric) and his twin sister( Elsa) was about eighteen years old. Eric stayed in Ravlunda, a small village 25 kilometers from Simrishamn, married Valborg(my mother). They got two girls(my sister Inger, 1960, and me 1963)These photos from somewhere 1920-1968 still exists in my parents home in Ravlunda, the same village where Amanda lived most of her life, and also where Hilda´s family came from. Among those pictures there also is a newspaper article from April 30 1956, telling us that George Boston, is back from his sailing with Fiddler´s green over the Atlantic.
It´s now nine years after your search, I hope you see this sometime.
Boston Family in Georgia

I have hit a wall in doing research on my family and wanted to seek assistance on any information this thread could provide. I am already received a quote from a professional research and before going that route, I was hoping on some direction. My great grandfather was born Gus Boston abt. 1867 in Burke County, Georgia. He was married to Katie (McCrone)Boston born abt. 1883. The had several children all born in Bullock County, Georgia. The story is that Gus Boston became a land owner (most likely inheritied from his slave master) and I am trying to locate this land as well as more information about him and his son, my grandfather Eddie Pete Boston. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
S.Boston

I've both replied and sent you and email since it's been eleven years since your original post and your email has likely changed. I've traced my ancestry back, and I'm definitely a descendant of the Boston family. Ezra, my great-great-grandfather, had a daughter named Daisy Maude Boston, my great-grandmother. Daisy had a daughter named Elinor, who had a daughter that was named after her mom. Elinor's daughter Daisy is my mother. It was a mind blowing experience finding your webpages and posts. I would love to learn more about the Boston family.

Olivia Krout

Hi Cynthia,

I cannot remember whether or not I have already e-mailed you but, my mom's side are Bostons and, in particular, my great grandfather Frank Boston was born in York Co. of Ontario (that's basically the Toronto district). His father Henry comes from Tower Hamlets in Middlesex, England (b. 1850).

You have probably found your Arthur but, if you haven't don't give up!!!
