My great grandmother was Louisa Elizabeth Dubay Bradford. She was born in 1876, however in French Canada. Her older sister was Emma Rose Dubay. Are you certain you have the correct information about Emma's place of birth?

This Emma was also married and had severl children. She resided in Merril, MI, initially after marriage, and died in Traverse City, MI, where she is buried near her sister, my great grandmother.

Hi Priscilla,

I have been following 3 Frank Bouchers from that area. The one I believe to be my great-great grandfather was born in 1866, son of Marguerite Cadotte Boucher and Jean Baptiste Boucher. Frank married Maria Grant. Is there any connection here with your Boucher group? I believe that Frank fathered my great grandfather, William Boucher (also known as William Boule).

Darlene

Hi Alice,

I've been trying to get in touch with you regarding your family tree. I believe that we are part of the same tree. Stafford's father was William Boucher. William also went by the last name of Boule or Bully. I have found William in other genealogy lists as William Cadotte and William Boule. His mother was Marguerite "Maggie" Cadotte and his biological father was Frank Boucher. Maggie married Jean "John" Boulle when William was about 2 years old. William went by Boulle or "Bully" for some years but in later years, went by "Boucher." It appears that Frank Boucher, his father, was the son of Marguerite and Jean Baptiste Boucher. He and Maggie Cadotte were never married.

Darlene

Hello all,

I have hit the brick wall with our ancestor's antecedents.

Here is his story:

A yeoman farmer in thr parish of Wiveliscombe, Somerset

EDWARD BOUCHER the Elder of Milverton, spelt BUTCHER
First known ancestor (in Wiveliscombe) is EDWARD BOUCHER "The Elder" of Milverton, spelt BUTCHER
Took a land grant by copy of Court Roll of Simmon's Holt (Langley) in the Parish of Wiveliscombe, on 7 May (17 Chas. I) 1641…(description of titles, deeds) on May 7 1641.
On March 24 1656, Lady Hawley made a lease to Thomas Hedford od Ester Broadfields for 99 years determinable - based on lives of John Hedford, Thomas Boucher and John Boucher, sons of Edward Boucher of Wiveliscombe. On April 22 1669, Edward Boucher took a grant of Atkin's Tenement at Ford, Wiveliscombe, for the lives of himself and John and Edward, his sons.(This cottage still exists and is known as Atkin's Cottage). He is described as Edward Boucher The Elder of Wiveliscombe.
His will is dated June 17 1705, proved 23 May 1710
Buried at Wiveliscombe 18 Nov 1709.

Any help would be appreciated,

Cheers,

Jonathan Boucher
We knew her as "Nanny".
I'd love to see your photo - I have precious few of her as it is, mostly later in life.
She married my great-grandfather Edward Victor Nyquist, and they had one daughter, Catherine.
They were divorced, and I believe she may have remarried a Charles Roth, whom we never met.
I don't know anything about her living in a town called Posey, but I looked at it on a map and I think it's highly unlikely it's the same person.
What are the birth dates, etc.
you show?

I have it here on my desk under everything. We have all heard a tale about a Squaw man but it was the French and Indian Wars when this took place. The Boucher was Amable, he had been working for the widow Mallett, and he was captured by Indians and taken to the British. Held captive, and then sentenced to death, he was feed by a Squaw. He persuaded her to let him go, she did and helped him get away. But to his misfortunte he ran in to more British, and was held prision for the duration of the war. His life had been spared by the Squaw tribe unknown, never heard of again 5 generations later his grt grandson Felix told the story to the Vincennes Press. Hope it helps. I heard about squaw man growing up it was like a bedtime tale, then I researched it to find it true. Have fun the French are an interesting line not dull like my English ancestors.

I am also a descendant of Jehan and Alice. I am wondering how and why she ended up in France? Was it because of her religion - huguenot / protestant? I am also wondering why her son Jehan and his wife Jehanne Bournier moved to Geneva, Switzerland and died there? Was it because they were also persecuted as huguenots / protestants? On her father's side she is a descendant of Ormus de Davenport, 2nd Baron of Davenport. I do not have much for her mother's side so far but I am still working on it. Hope this helps you out.

It appears we are related, and I have what I think is the information you are looking for.

Your Great Grand Mother Cordelia is the sister of my Great Grand Mother, Laura Aurora Badger.

I believe I found a connection for Our shared 2nd Great Grand Mother Anna, but I'd love to have you take a second look.

If what I have is correct then Anna was born Delima Boucher 27 Dec 1866 in St-Étienne-Des-Grès, Saint Maurice, Quebec, Canada to Fredrique Boucher and Marie Rose Delima Michaud.

I've uncovered census records from 1861, 1871, 1881,and 1891 all in St. Maurice County that document this family. I have also found the marriage record for Fredrique and Delima. This is where I have come to the next road block.

It appears that Fred's parents had died by the time he married. His witness is Claude Boucher. I am having a hard time finding information on him. I believe he may be Pierre Claude Boucher born to Joseph Boucher and Marie Marchand. However the sibling for Pierre Claude that would match Fred is named Francois Xavier.

There is also a sister to Pierre Claude; Marie Adeline Boucher who married Joseph Isabelle. The census records for these famlies show them living with or near each other in St. Maurice County in 1851. By 1871 Adeline is married and living near Claude Boucher and Fredric Boucher, which leads me to believe they may be the same family.

You can e-mail me directly at jtull@pobox.com

Regards,

Jeffrey Tull

My Wife is a direct descendant of Narcisse BOUCHER and Zoé VALLÉE. I've been studying this line in the Tiny Township, Simcoe County area of Ontario, Canada for many years, and the Ancestor-line is actually BOUCHER-dit(e)-BELLEVILLE or BOUCHER-de-la-BELLEVILLE, and not just BOUCHER. I don't believe it could be the same person as your Narcisse BOUCHER married to LeMASTER (or LeMAÎTRE in French I believe), but it's possible it could be from the same family at some point. There are an extremely large number of BOUCHER descendants throughout North America and the name is much like SMITH in English.
I was also going to say that there was not much movement of people between the two areas at those times, but I know I am presently personally in touch with someone in Mississippi who has tracked their French LeCROIX family from this same (i.e. Simcoe County) area from about the same time.
Since you're trying to track a French surname in a predominantly English speaking area you will run into many different spellings, especially in older times. The noun BOUCHER (pronounced BOO--SHAY in French) can mean BUTCHER (literal translation), but can also mean MOUTH, MOUTHFUL, BIGMOUTH from different spellings and close pronounciations. Any of these translations could be found to be a surname. I've personally also found BOUCHAY, BOUSHAY, BUSHEY, BUSHY, BOUCHET and BUTCHER spellings. Even my Brothers-in-law are referred to as "BUSH" by friends.
As a final point I've been trying to research a family member of my own in the Kansas area (from a distance/by computer/etc) without much luck.
You could try the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum or Simcoe County Genealogy Societies which track a lot of older family info in that area to see if our Narcisse was ever known to have lived in Kansas. The Museum keeps a lot of old papers, including newspapers, and I suppose you could also try the Penetanguishene Public Library as well.

Most likely they aren't the same person, they just have the same name. Many, many people share the same name.

Other trees can give you clues, but the basis of your personal family history should be gained though documenting life events and tracking the locations with census records.

From your tree, it appears Medric Roy Boucher, b 1904 in Kansas is the person you are seeking to work backwards from, is that correct?

Before moving backwards from him, the documents you need for him to confirm his parentage are his birth, marriage record and death record. Start with the death record, then marriage, then birth.

I found a few records that may or may not be for this line, but fits the location (Kansas) and birth year of Medric Boucher.

Kansas State Census Collection, 1855-1925

Name: Medric Boucher
Census Date: 1 Mar 1905
Residence County: Cherokee
Residence state: Kansas
Locality: Lowell
Birth Location: Kansas
Family Number: 113
Gender: Male
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1904
Race: White
Line: 24
Roll: ks1905_23

Household Member(s):
Name Age
N Boucher 65
Rachel Boucher 30
Medric Boucher 1

It can't be determined if Rachel is a daughter or wife of N. Boucher, in this census.

==========================================================

I found this marriage record on familysearch.org, Kansas Marriages, 1840-1935. This birth year, 1839 and location (Cherokee, Kansas) make it a worth investigating. I suspect this might have been a second marriage for both parties, however there would have been no children resulting from this marriage.

Groom's Name: Narcisse Boucher
Groom's Birth Date: 1839
Groom's Age: 55
Bride's Name: Mary Hickox
Bride's Birth Date: 1839
Bride's Age: 55
Marriage Date: 07 Aug 1894
Marriage Place: Columbus, Cherokee, Kansas
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: M73544-2
System Origin: Kansas-EASy
Source Film Number: 1411996
Reference Number: p 245, Ln 487

I think there's a lot of error in those tree's being copied from. The only way to make sure you're on the right path is start with what you know, document it and continue moving backwards, documenting as you go along.
I can't find any evidence that they are the same person.
I am a direct desendant of "Nelson" (Narcisse) Boucher & Isabel Lemaster.

Hi Lori. Don't know if you ever got an answer to your query, but I have info. Henri (Honore) Boucher and Lucy Chamberlain are also my Great Grand parents. Their oldest child, Eva, was my Grandmother. I am currently doing some genealogical work on our family. Henri's Mother was Marguerite Young, (Husband Edouard Boucher). Born 1843 or 1844. She was the daughter of a status Indian. Joseph Athanase Young, born July 25 1803. His Father was also status Indian, Etienne Young, born Mar 25 1785. Hope this helps
If it is the same Boucher family tehn the answer is yes they did. I am from George who was born around 1872. His father was Narcisse Boucher. Though we believe George was adopted and is Indian

I thought I recognized these names, and see I helped you last year on a child of this couple.

I found quite a bit on-line for this family, but no sighting for them (parents and younger children) after the US 1910 Census.

If you know where they're buried, call the cemetery and ask for the burial dates. http://www.cityofboston.gov/Parks/cemetery.asp

Also read this thread before contacting the cemetery:http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?o=0&m=61.3.1.1.1&...

==========================================================

Marriage Record Transcription, (Quebec Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967)

Sweetsburg (Ste-Rose-de-Lima), Missisquoi, Quebec, Canada
27 Sep 1886
Pierre Charles Boucher, s/o Louis Boucher & Domitille Renaud
Mathilde Jacob, d/o Philias Jacob & Marie Royer

==========================================================

1891 Census of Canada
Name: Charles Boucher
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Married
Age: 25
Birth Year: abt 1866
Birthplace: Quebec
Relation to Head of House: Head
Religion: Roman Catholic
French Canadian: Yes
Father's Birth Place: Quebec
Mother's Birth Place: Quebec
Province: Quebec
District Number: 143
District: Brome
Subdistrict: Potton

Household Members:
Name Age
Charles Boucher 25
Matilda Boucher 18
Celina Boucher 4
Napoleon Boucher 2
Caroline Boucher 1/12
Edouard Choquette 25

===========================================================

1900 United States Federal Census

Name: Chas P Boucher
Home in 1900: Boston Ward 24, Suffolk, Massachusetts
Age: 33
Birth Date: Sep 1866
Birthplace: Canada Fr

Race: White
Gender: Male
Immigration Year: 1894
Relationship to head-of-house: Head
Father's Birthplace: Canada Fr
Mother's Birthplace: Canada Fr
Spouse's Name: Matilda Boucher
Marriage year: 1888
Marital Status: Married
Years married: 12

Household Members:
Name Age
Chas P Boucher 33
Matilda Boucher 27
Selina Boucher 13
Napolene Boucher 11
Caroline Boucher 9
Laura M Boucher 4
Leah A Boucher 1
Israel Boucher 7

============================================================

1910 United States Federal Census

Name: Charles Bushee

Age in 1910: 47
Estimated Birth Year: 1863
Birthplace: Vermont
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Birth Place: Canada English
Mother's Birth Place: Canada English
Spouse's Name: Lucy Bushee
Home in 1910: Hyde Park, Norfolk, Massachusetts
Marital Status: Married [abt 1885]
Race: White
Gender: Male

Household Members:
Name Age
Charles Bushee 47
Lucy Bushee 38
Laura N Bushee 14
Leo A Bushee 11
Charles L Bushee 9
Geo W Bushee 6
Elizabeth Bushee 1 1/12
Minnie Bushee 21 [*wife of Joseph]
Joseph Bushee 22

===========================================================

Massachusetts Births, 1841-1915
===============================

Laura May Boucher
birth	01 May 1896 —Milton, Norfolk, Massachusetts
parents:	Peter C.
