The obituary only list Mr & Mrs Edward Boudreau. He had 5 brothers: Fred, Wilfred, Henry, Donat and Arthur. The 1920 census shows he had 6 children. My Dad being one of them. I only remember one Uncle and two Aunts, but there are two more William and Harry who my Dad never spoke about. My Dad was 11 when his Dad died and William & Harry were 3 and 4 years older than my Dad. Another mystery to solve. Neither one is on the 1930s census with my grandmother. She remarried and only my Dad, Uncle Rudy and one Aunt Bea are on the 1930's census. My other Aunt, Irene was already married. I hope the death certificate can shed some more light on him and his parents.

I found my grandfather, Archie Boudreau. He died Feb 17, 1928 at the age of 40 yrs old at Lawrence General Hospital. I have requested his death certificate from Mass Vital Statistics. He is buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There is no stone/marker on his gravesite.
The Lawrence Public Library was very helpful with locating his obituary and funeral notice which I now have copies and shared with my brothers and sisters.
There really is no problem with the dates.

The Dec 23, 1864 reference is their marriage Intention date (i.e. their Engagement to be married). They probably had a year in which to plan and marry from that date.

The Dec 25, 1865 (a year later) is more probably their ACTUAL wedding date, performed by the pastor from Webster who was performing marriages at the mission church in Oxford (St-Roch's Church).

Plus, the 1865 date must truly be their marriage because their first child, Sophie, was only born and baptised in St-Alexandre (Iberville), QC on 5 Sep 1867.

Dennis

To me, it makes perfect sense. Thanks for posting these.

Dennis

Hi Claire,

Happy New Year! Here's a link to the family association in Dieppe.

http://boudreau.fafa-acadie.org/

Also in the products area, you will see the book I mentioned by Stephen White for sale there. It is in French but not too difficult to understand. An example is given of a page from it. It starts in 1640 to about 1785, but the next generation on all the branches researched to that time are included.

If you want more pertinent info on your particular branch, feel free to post what you know and I'll see what I have to help you tie into Steve's initial research.

Regards, Dennis
Anita,

It is possible that the info you're seeking is too recent, and the people are still living, thus you have received no answer to your question (and nothing can be found on them online). If this is so, please inquire among your relatives for connections further back, who are now deceased. You might have more luck making connections by going back a generation or two from the people named in your post.

Best regards,

Dennis B
Please note: I am always glad to help, but if you couch your request onto someone else's post, it may never get answered as a result if I don't find it up front, or the answers may go to someone else who has posted questions before you, on whose post you tacked on your question.

Also, when posting, please be patient as I am constantly researching various branches of the family.
Paul,

You are correct! The parents of Michel are just that, UNKNOWN. There is absolutely no way to tie our Boudrot (-eau, -eault, -eaux) Family to any sources in Switzerland without a connection in France. To say that the family originated there without any written proof is simply unjustified and wrong.

The last place of reference for Michel Boudrot before coming to this continent was LaRochelle, France, a seaport from which he MAY have departed for Acadia. As for the first post, this ancestor of our did not live to see the Deportation in 1755. According to the research of Stephen White, our ancestor died between 20 August 1688 (the date he was relieved of his duties as a civil magistrate at Port-Royal, and the census of that place taken in 1683, in which his wife, Michelle Aucoin was a widow.

Gerald Boudreau must have meant another Michel Boudrot who went to New Brunswick, but certainly not our common ancestor who came to Acadia before 1640, and died some 40+ years afterwards.

Sources: Stephen A. White. Histoire de la Famille de Michel Boudrot (available from the Boudreau Family Association, Dieppe, NB)

Good to see this message board again revitalized. May it continue through the new year. Happy New Year to you and all our cousins!

Best regards, Dennis

Hello Gerald, Are you still doing your family history? I enjoyed learning about my Grandfather's name and it's origin from Switzerland. My grandfather is Peter Boudreau or Boudrot, from Richmond County in Nova Scotia. Born in or around 1875. I'm just starting this journey for this side of the family, although I have more info for my paternal grandfather, from Scotland.

Hope you are well, Claire (from Massachusetts)

Hi Doreen,
I was married to your father's brother Roger. We were divorced in 1980. I still have a few pictures of your brother Dana and you. Your dad brought you to our house when he had visitation rights. His brothers Ronny, and Roger have passed on, as well as your grandmother. I have a daughter Erika, who is your cousin.
I used to have the telephone number of his sister Yvonne. I could try and locate info if you would like. I never met your grandfather, and didn't know he never married your grandmother. I know your dad has a sister on Long Island, and a brother Richard who had returned to the US with his family. I've always liked Yvonne, but would not like his brother Richard to know anything about me. Yvonne's last name (the last I spoke to her) was Bonita, and she lived in Bridgeport or Trumbull CT.

Actually, Marie Laforest's father's name was David, thus the David dit Labranche!

Marcelline's parents as given in her marriage record to Jean Saunier are Jean-Baptiste & Marguerite Boissonneau.

Please do not add the record of Marcelline, daughter of Jacques and Suzanne Audet to the equation, as it will only confuse everyone else.

Am closing this case as it is indeed solved.
I am beginning to question it too. I would hold off on changing it until we can come up with more information.

If we even have doubt it says Jean Saucier instead, it brings up another problem. The marriage record clearly says "Marie David" dit Labranche. Jean Saulnier's parents should be Jean Saulnier and Marie Laforet dit Labranche.

Even if we come to the conclusion beyond a doubt Marceline was born in L'acadie, even baptisted at Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie, there is a Marie Marceline Boudreau who was born in 1822. Her parents are Jacques Boudreau and Suzane Odette.

By no means are Jean Saulnier (or any variation of his name) or Marceline Boudreau uncommon names in this period. I am highly leaning the way I have but there is this large question.

I can't be 100% sure but I assumed they were married because there was a Marceline Boudreau living with Jean Saulnier in 1871. She is at least married to one of them.

http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=...

One could read it is "Saucier" but also Saunier. I have also seen it recorded as Sannier for his descendants.

The 1871 Census Marceline is 50 which puts her birth between 1820 and 1822. I'll see if I can find any other matches.

Are you sure Marcelline married a Saulnier? I have her married to a Jean SAUCIER (s/o the deceased Jean Saucier & Marie David dit Labranche of Baie St-Paul, QC) on 22 June 1841 at L'Acadie, QC. Will try to enclose an image of the start of the record, but the priest definitely wrote SAUCIER over the hard to read record.

She was born at L'Acadie on 26 Jul 1821. Her father was born in Massachusetts in 1766 (prior to his family's return to Canada). He was baptized in Trois-Rivieres, QC on 5 Apr 1768, aged 1 & 1/2 years old. Your death date is correct for him (aged about 90 years old).

Let's see. Jean Baptiste Boudreau married Marie Landry January 31, 1791. He married Marguerite Boissonneau February 21, 1803. I have his death as April 16, 1852 in L'Acadie, Quebec, Canada, more specifically Ste-Marguerite-de-Blairfindie.

Jean Baptiste Boudreau's parents are Charles Boudreau and Madeline Clouatre. I was actually hoping for information on them. Here is what I found: http://ourorigins.org/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?pid=424722&p...

Marguerite Boissoneau's parents are Francois Boissonneau and Marie-Josephe Lefebvre. I sent a link to Ourorigins.org regarding linking the people. Until that time: http://ourorigins.org/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?pid=824033

I'm descended from them through Anne Marcelline Boudreau, who married Jean Saulnier in 1841.
