Most North American Boudreaux's are located in South Louisiana and Nova Scotia region of Canada. I am a Louisiana Boudreaux of Cajun descent, Which originally came from Acadia in Nova Scotia when expelled by the British in late 18th and early 19th century. Before most Boudreaux's came from France via the port of La Rochelle.

Thanks, but also if you have any source references, I would be most grateful. I have found no shortage of information about Boudreaux families in Louisiana, but many in our family have the same first and last names, many of the sources conflict with one another and few cite or trace any source, much less contemporaneous primary or secondary sources.

"Odiel Mary Boudreaux" is, in fact, buried with her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery in Patterson(ville), according to the page at http://goo.gl/YWOhj , the information of which was recorded in 1935. (That spelling of "Odiel" is not repeated in any another other reference I've seen and I personally prefer the proper French spelling of "Odile", which is repeated in many other references (e.g. 1870 US Census).

In the 1860 Census there is a 26-y.o. "Marie" listed as the first woman in his family (spouses were not indicated), but she is about 10 years younger than Odile and only about 10 years older than Odile's eldest child (also named "Marie"). She might be a relative staying in the household, possibly widowed or to help take care of the children during Odile's apparent absence. To add to the confusion, this Marie is of the right age to be one "Marie Onesia Dubois" listed in marriage records as married to a (presumably) different Clairville Boudreaux in 1856.

The 1870 Census adds your grandfather, but the 7-year span between two of his elder siblings is curious. Keep in mind that census data often didn't show actual relationships, but only the names and ages of those who lived in the household. That the name "Carlos" is not French, but is Spanish, that his name is not present among known ancestors and that when Carlos married he moved to Texas just across border from Mexico suggests another possibility: perhaps you are descended from that 26-y/o Marie and the name Carlos came from her or her husband's family of Spanish ancestry!

Okay, I'm speculating, and Carlos _is_ listed as Clairville's and Odile's son in the 1880 Census and on Carlos's death certificate. But that "Marie" and the span between siblings is notable, and I'd be interested to see more contemporaneous information about Carlos's birth, such as from his baptismal record or birth certificate.

The marriage information I have for Clairville and Odile indicates that they were married not on 19 Dec 1842, but nine days later, on 26 Dec 1842 (Hébert, Rev. Donald J., South Louisiana Records: Church and Civil Records of Lafourche-Terrebonne Parishes, 12 vols. to date; Rayne, LA: Hébert Publications, 1978-.)

That there are many plausible and often not unlikely possibilities and problems with *known* secondary sources, which is why I'm so keen to know the primary or secondary sources of the information.

In fact, I have no information about Clairville's and Odile's ancestors that is referenced with any degree of credibility.

Despite the niggling questions, I feel that it's safe to say that the eldest sibling of Carlos Matthew Boudreaux was my great-great-grandmother, Marie (aka Mary) Elmire Boudreaux (1843-1927), making you (Morrow1964) and I very closely related: second cousins, twice removed. I am also in Houston right now, staying with a sister near Bear Creek Park. My contact information is on my profile. I'd love to hear directly from you and compare notes!

Marie Odiel Trosclair and Clairville Boudreaux are my great grandparents.
Their youngest son, Carlos Matthew Boudreaux (b. 1868)(d.1945 Alpine, Tx) is my grandfather. He died the year before my birth. He married Leila Elma Wooster (1875-1949).

I believe he is listed on the 1850 Census as Lewis (Clairville) Boudreau. Should read Louis. There is a Marie listed there as his wife. There were Elsmire age 7, Emiliia age 6, Celina age 4 and Roudolphe age 3.

Louisiana Marriages to 1850:

Spouse 1: Boudraux, Clairville
Spouse 2:
Trosclair, Marie Odette
Marriage Date:
19 Dec 1842
Marriage Location:
Louisiana
Lafourche Parish

This line of Boudreaux goes back to Michel Boudrot ond Michelle Aucoin... in Acadia; they were born in France and immigrated about 1640. They had 12 or more sons; hence so many Boudreauxs. This line I trace to Marin Boudrot who was held in a prison camp in England during French and War; he then was dumped with 2 brothers in St. Malo France 1763). One died; the other 2 came to Lousiana about 1787 aboard LeAmistie. They stayed with an uncle Etiene Boudreaux until they could settle.

My mother Jane Marie Boudreaux (1917-1979) was my Mother; she was their youngest child. Clairville was 50 when she was born. She married my father Ray N. Morrow (1915-1985).

A few years back, I was trying to find Marie Odiel Trosclair Boudreaux's cemetery plot. I believe it is in the same cemetery with Clairville at Patterson, La.

Right now my geneology papers are buried in storage; high and dry after a flood here in Houston in 2001. So I'm a bit rusty.

Hebert's Books are best for tracing southern Louisiana folks; it can be found in any genealogy library worth going to.

My dad was Tom's son by a lady named Beatrice (Alexander was her surname). His name was Mevran Boudreaux (he passed away in 1995). Tom was unable to be a part of our lives but I have always been interested to see the rest of my family.
Hi,

Would you or anyone happen to have info on Euphemon Schexsnayder (sp) that married Eve Frederick from Abbeville, LA?

I do not have any info on Euphemon, like his parents, birth year, siblings, time of death, cause of death.

My Great Grandmother was Eve's sister, Marie Gracieuse Frederick. Marie Gracieuse Frederick named her first son Euphemon; this would be my grandfather. Church records show that she was not married (Frederick is her maiden name) and the church record does not list a father. Approximately 6 months later Marie Gracieuse Frederick married Joseph Louis Berry.

I also have very little on Joseph Louis Berry so if someone out there has info on the Joseph Berry that married Marie Gracieuse Frederick, again I would appreciate it. It looks like from the Census records that when Joseph married Marie, sometimes called Gracie, he had with him a child named Sussanna. This child may have been from a previous marriage, perhaps to an Eakin. I learned recently, from an Aunt that is in her mid 80's that she thinks Joseph Berry is buried near Bell City.

Thanks,

Barbara

Looking for information on Rosa Boudreaux b abt 1839. Married Charles Desire Bouquet. Reason to believe her parents were Samuel Boudreaux b abt 1805 and Marie. If my suspicion is correct, Rosa's siblings were Charles, Emilie, Lillia, Lufroi, Marguerite, and Marie. Info obtained from 1850 Census.

Email is snemitchell@yahoo.com

Thanks!
Sheena
