Don't know if you are still searching for Minnie Elizabeth Boulton. I have a little information about her that I got from another relative on ancestry.com. Her father was David Morgan Boulton, married Frances Nolen. I have them having 3 children before she died and he married Elizabeth Owens. David's father was James Buchanan Boulton who married Elizabeth Sanders.

I am from Charles A, Charles Lemuel, Americus Decatur, Edward Bradley, Bradley Owen, Claudie Owen, and me. Email me and I will share what I have but more that likely you will have more than I have.

Uncle Oscar had a "peg" leg from train accident. That was a long time ago!!

I have talked to John Rhodes and his wife thru email but have never had to chance to get together with them.

Hope to hear from you soon so we can share info.
Sorry everyone, a couple of corrections are in order - I am not sure that George and James Boulton of the Golden Cross at Charing Cross were actually brothers. They do not appear to have been father and son, as James Boulton's will does not mention any children. George and James may have been first cousins.

Second, I think James may have married Catherine Bell at St Anne Soho on 31 May 1767.

At present, all my clues point to a connection between George Boulton of Charing Cross and the extended family of Henry & Alice Boulton of Lincolnshire. Can anyone provide more details of this family?

Dr George Boulton, MD, died 1747

Dr George Boulton MD who died in 1747, was a fellow of St Mary Magdalene College at Cambridge and ‘a distinguished physician at Bolton’. This man had earlier lived at Lincoln Close. He may have been the same George Boulton who married Ann Clark at Horncastle in 1734.

George & Ann's son George, baptised at Horncastle on 21 June 1738, MAY have been the George Boulton (Snr) who ended up as a coachmaster at the Golden Cross, Charing Cross in London. The latter was a man of substantial means. His 'natural' son George (Jnr) was born around 1769. I can't find a baptism record for George Jnr, possibly because he was baptised under his mother's surname. When George Boulton Jnr married at a society wedding in London in 1794, the announcement also appeared in Northamptonshire papers.

George Snr, of South Mimms, died in November 1790 at 'Cliffen' (possibly somewhere else in England) but I can't find a burial record.

George Snr had a brother named James Boulton, also of the Golden Cross at Charing Cross. James died late in 1784 or early in 1785, leaving a widow named Catherine, but I can't find any relevant baptism, marriage or burial records for James.

Does anyone have any information about Dr George Boulton. Did he leave a will somewhere? Can anyone tell me more about the brothers James and George Boulton at Charing Cross? Does anyone know of an illegitimate George Boulton born around 1769.

My book about the Boultons of Charing Cross is well-advanced as a draft. I know their family had some influence about town, but I can't find a connection to the relevant family of origin, despite a wide search through parish records and various wills. This is holding up the process of finalising the draft of the book.

More details of my writing are on my website www.louisewilson.com.au. The website will mention the Boulton book once I sort out the issues surrounding the family of origin of George Boulton Snr.

Thanks to anyone who can help me locate my missing links.

Louise Wilson
PO Box 3055
South Melbourne VIC 3205
Australia

Thomas Osborn Boulton & Benedicta Kate Adams

Thomas Osborn Boulton, 1850-1897, was a merchant sea captain whose wife Benedicta Kate Adams travelled with him on some/all of his voyages after their marriage in June 1883. Their first child was born aboard Oronsay in Lyttelton, New Zealand in May 1884. Three more children followed in quick succession - the birth of Benedicta Frances Kate Boulton was registered in Sydney, Australia in 1885; the birth of Thomas Harold Boulton was registered in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1886; and the birth of a Nina Helen Boulton (possibly their daughter Nina) was registered at Dorking, Surrey in 1888.

In 1890 Boulton wrote a will in which his wife was not mentioned, and in the 1891 census he was a widower. Does anyone know what happened to Benedicta Kate Boulton nee Adams? I have not been able to find a record of her death anywhere.

This information will form part of a book I am writing about the father and son George Boulton Snr & Jnr, who were coachmasters at the famous 'Golden Cross' inn at Charing Cross during the period 1780-1814. Their story fills an important gap in the early history of the mail coach system.

More information about my writing is on my website. The Boulton book will be listed there once I have finalised a bit more of the draft.

Thanks to anyone who has knowledge of this family and can help with my query.

Louise Wilson
PO Box 3055
South Melbourne VIC 3205
Australia
