Hi Bill, I am also researching the Boyle family but I have very little to go on. It was the middle name Carlton that caught my eye. I am researching James Carlton Boyle, born about May 1831 in Ireland (probably Donegal). I know his father was Connell Boyle. James was a tailor by trade and came to the US in 1848. By 1850 he was in Ashtabula County, Ohio, where he lived until his death in 1904. He had one son named Hugh Haney Boyle. Do any of these names show up in your Boyle line?
I recently came across data that I haven't proven as yet. However, it gives a daughter of Solomon Boyle and Susannah M. Pelltreau as Madalin/Magdalan Lucretia Boyle (also known as Lynche). Magdalan married John Cooper. This is from family records and genealogies of the first settlers of Passaic Valley, but I have no proof as yet. My line would be be from John Cooper and Magdalan's daughter, Lucretia who married William Annin. The Annin family is from Bernardsville, NJ area and William Annin bn Scotland is my 5th g-grandfather - of which I have proof. However, this is the first time I have found info on his wife, Lucretia's parentage. I am looking for a copy of Solomon Boyle's will in which Magdalan is mentioned as receiving 50 pounds. If you have a copy of the will, please contact me off-site as dpsears@artelco.com Thanks. Pauli

Trying to find any information on James C. Boyle, born about 1831 in Ireland. James was in Ashtabula County, Ohio, by 1850. He married Emily Augusta Sperry on Oct. 28, 1862. They had one son Hugh Boyle who died in 1905 in Ashtabula. According to the 1900 census James emigrated in 1848. I am trying to locate his place of origin in Ireland.
I have seen reference to his parents as Connell Boyle and
Briddy McScome(?) but have had no luck tracing James back to Ireland.
Catherine Henry/Hendry and William Boyle ? If they were then I think I may be able to give you some contact e-mails.
Yes, I do believe this is correct. Sorry for the very long delay in replying but ....
Mungo Boyle was my Great Grandfather. I will have to really get into my family history again, have been moving around and not had time to continue with my research.
Any leads would be most welcome.

This is heading off the Boyle track a bit, but Alexander Bryans and Catherine Boyle were almost certainly my great- great- grandparents. Their son William, born 1868, was a Methodist minister who stayed and worked in Ireland. My granny Nora was his oldest daughter. We're researching this at the moment, but we believe that Alexander and Catherine had another Methodist minister son, Alexander, who emigrated to either Canada or the US. We have all the details of the whole family from William Bryans to the present day.

John F. Boyle - Schuylkill County, PA

I am looking for any information about John F. Boyle. He was married to Margaret Diver in 1876 in Summit Hill, PA. John and Margaret had four children, Mary (Minnie), Catherine, Sara and George and lived in Coaldale, PA.

He was killed in Lehigh, No. 8 Colliery on November 25, 1885. His death was documented in the State Mine Report. According to the Mine Report he was 34 years old, which puts his birth at approximately 1851.

In 1900 his three surviving children were living separately (one living with his mother, one married and one as a servant). All of the children list their father as born in Pennsylvania, which may or may not be accurate.

Any help finding his parents or where he came from would be appreciated.
Hello Karyn,
My name is Kathleen, and I am a descendent of William, who is a son of
John and Sarah Bignal. William and Henry are brothers. William was born
in 1839 and died in 1936. William and Henry's parents John, born 9/1810
in London and died 3/1895 in Kent. Sarah Bignal was born 1812 and died
in 7/1900 in Kent. I'm not sure if there were any other children. John parents
are Hamilton, born 1764 in Ireland, and Ann Broughton born 1795 in Ireland.
Hamilton died June 1846 in England, and Ann died 6/29/1876 Eng. William
married Jane Newlyn who was born 1/11/1838. Not sure when they married
but William and Jane are my great great grandparents. Among many children
they had a son, Edward John Boyle Sr. born 2/10/1872 but died at 24 yrs old
on 12/25/1896. He was married to Amy Sainsbury, who was expecting my
grandfather at the time of his death, so he never new his son. My grandfather
Edward John Boyle,jr. was born 7/11/1897 who was the father of Dorothy Mary
born 9/4/1924. Dorothy Mary is my mother. My mother came to America
after the war, married and currently living in New Hampshire. I hope I was
able to help you, and it is wonderful to be able to find another relative. I would
love to hear from you, and would like to communicate through e-mail if that is possible.

Kathleen

My maternal great grandfather's name is James Boyle (1862-1952) and he lived in Banks Township, Carbon County. He married Bridget Macauley who was born in 1861. Their children were Joseph, James, Sarah, Leo, and Rose. My grandmother was Sarah and she married James Munley. Evidently, Thomas Munley (another Molly Maguire) was my great-great-great uncle. My wife's great-great-grandmother was Elizabeth "Bessie" Boyle, who came to USE from Ireland (don't know from which county) and settled in NJ. Married a Hermann Heyart in 1877 in NJ. Father's name was Michael Boyle and mother's name was Mary (don't know Mary's maiden name). Bessie was born about 1855 or so. Is it possible this is the same Bessie as your Lizzie?
Dominic Boyle

Looking for Dominic Boyle, my great great grandfather. He was born in Ireland (Eire) abt 1845. (Parents, Thomas & Ann). Married Ann McClean in Bury Lancashire, England. She was born (to Irish parents -Patrick and Nora)in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, England, and according to the 1881 Census, her eldest children, were also born in Kidderminster, although they were all living in Bury by then - the younger ones being born there.

The 1881 UK census is the only official recording of Dominic found so far ( although I do have the copy of their Certificate of Marriage). Dominic was head of house and his listed occupation was Dyer in cotton industry.
It was an extremely poverty stricken period - not only for Ireland but also the majority of the poor of England. The facts handed down the family, (that both I and my mother remember well) was because of this Dominic went to Philadelphia to find work and send money home to the family, about 1887, but never returned home. Ann received a letter, from a friend there sometime later, stating that he had died following a bridge collapse and/or falling off the bridge he was building.

UK 1891 Census confirms her as head of house and a widow. He 'died' therefore between 1887/1891 (April 5th). Presumably because of his death Ann had to very reluctantly send her youngest( 6yrs & 4yrs) children Thomas and Margaret Boyle (my Great Grandma) - back to Ireland to be looked after by relatives on a farm but Margaret had returned by the 1901 census, when she was 14, once she had reached working age and could contribute to the family budget

Have tried looking for Dominic - alternative spelling Dominick, and am pretty sure that I have found him, on his outward journey to the States. Arrival on the Steamship British King, March 8th 1887 (ports/ dates would fit). There are also a couple of strong possibilities from the records available (US City Directory) of addresses, although because ages are not stated difficult to ascertain? I cannot so far find any record of his death.... and because the US federal Census for 1890 - the only year that would be really helpful was destroyed (1921), I am sort of at an end. Yet I would dearly love to find him. Not casting any aspersions on his character - but the times - well he might have found someone else, and possibly decided on a new life? Although extremely unlikely .. especially as a Catholic but not impossible???? So many questions unanswered - feel so close but yet so far. ANY help would be appreciated. Apologies also, if I have posted in the wrong place and for being a .bit long winded. - new to this- Many thanks

From the Chatsworth Plaindealer
Chatsworth,Livingston,Illinois

MRS. KATIE BOYLE
JUNE 3, 1910

On Tuesday (May 31) morning at eight o'clock, at her late home on Hickory street in this village, occurred the death of Mrs. Katie Boyle following a prolonged illness with lung trouble.
Katie Fitzmaurice was born April 30, 1860, in the old town of Brenton, which long since passed into oblivion, but was formerly situated east of where the present town of Piper City is now located. She is the eldest daughter of the late Michael and Mary Fitzmaurice, who were among the first settlers of Chatsworth. She spent most of her life in this village and was recognized by all as a most beautiful character. Blessed with a mild and gentle nature, a pleasing manner and even disposition, and possessed of a mind of fine intellect, she leaves the world better for her having lived in it.
In February, 1880, she was united in marriage with John Duffy, whose death occurred years ago, one child, a son, James f. Duffy, of this city, having been born to the union. She was again married on June 8, 1895, to John Boyle. Two children, one son and one daughter, John and Mary, were born to the second marriage.
Deceased is survived by the three children above mentioned; her aged mother, Mrs. Mary Fitzmaurice; two brothers, John and Michael, of Chicago; and two sisters, Mary, wife of Dr. T.C. Seright, of this city, and Miss Josephine Fitzmaurice of Chicago.
The funeral services were held on Thursday morning at SS. Peter and Paul's church, Rev. W.J. Burke officiating and the remains were interred in St. Patrick's cemetery.

I'm related to Robert Boyle. From what I have found, he was married to Jemima Dooley.
He was born 1751 in Virginia and died in 1834 also in Virginia.
I believe he is a distant grandfather. His relative was Victoria Boyle and was married to William Clay Sunderland, who is my gg grandfather.
Please email me at itskarens@gmail.com
