her father was william houston boynes b1803 staindrop d1868 his first wife was mary brunskill b 1801 d 1841 she was the 4 th child of this marriage . charles b1826 eleanor b1828 mary b1831 d 1837. w h boynes 2 nd wife was margaret walker their son joseph edward boynes b 1855 was my great.great grandfather. if you have any family history pre 1831 i would be interested.

Surviving are her daughter, Linnell (Tom) Hodder, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Larissa (Wayne) McGrew and Dr. Corbin (Sarah) Hodder; great-granddaughter, Delaney Hodder; and sister, Shirley Veneziale, of Bellevue. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Boynes; daughter, Jodell Boynes; sister, June Jones; and brother, Thomas Magdalene. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Friday at the THOMAS-LITTLE FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 305 Main St., Imperial, where a funeral service will be held at noon. Interment will follow in Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stage Right!, 100 N. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601, or the Greensburg Civic Theatre.

I have at last replied to you via your email address from ancestry I assume you will receive it however if you don't come back to me. I sent a Post office directory entry showing your Nicholas with his wife in Standford Dingley 1854 before he did his disappearing act!

I posted my query a long time ago and since then I have worked out just as you have posted. It took me some time to find all that out. I think I now have a photo of him as well. Also tracing Harriet Meggrah around when she was constantly changing her name and age was a good game

Having sussed Mr Nicholas Boynes' life and found most of the Boynes-Butlers in the world I am still stuck on the original George Boynes (or Boyns) of around 1700. Where did he come from - I haven't found anyone who knows more or any evidence for him beyond his marriage.

If you know any more on the Devon Boynes then I'd be the first in the queue wanting to know!

Nicholas Butland Boynes 1821 Married Susan Knapman 1841/4 Newton Abbot and then Married or had liasion with Harriet Mc Grath and they went to Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. Some family alled Boyns Butler and others Butler.
You are right I do not think there is any link to the Boyns/Boyens in Cornwall. The Devon group/s seem to be differnt but who knows!

If I'm putting this together right,your grandfather, who went by the nick name of "Lefty" was my mother's and aunt's brother. My mother is Emma Boynes Murray and my aunt, Esther Boynes Johnson, both still live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They are the only two living from their immediate family. My g-g-grandfather Henry Topping (b.1839) married Grace Boynes (b.1850) at St Andrews Church, Newcastle in 1869. Grace's parents were Joshua Boynes (b.1826) and Mary Horsley (b.1827). I believe Joshua's parents were Joseph Boynes(b.1796) and Mary Baily(b.1797). Some more information would be nice if it is possible

Yes Joshua Boynes is related to the Felling Boynes, My Grandmother was a Boynes who was born in Holly Street Felling. Are you related to the Boynes, if so we may be able to help each other with some information.

Boynes, Mary Ann, 7 yrs - buried 28 Oct 1837

so perhaps yours was a second Mary Ann born to the same couple.

Marriage at Staindrop:

29 May 1825 William Boynes = Mary Brunskill.

This is pre civil registration, so all you are likely to find in the marriage register are the witnesses names, who are sometimes family members.

There is a second marriage for William to a Margaret WALKER in 1844, so Mary must have died between 1841 and 1844.

You can order this marriage certificate here, which will tell you more about William's father.

Searching for one Nicholas Butland BOYNES born 1821 in Ashburton, Devon. He may well have got married in Devon in 1841 but thereafter he disappears and I believe he changed his name and hid away in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, living with a new wife.
Has anyone come across a Nicholas BOYNES - I do not think he is linked to the Cornish BOYNES' - and know where he went to?
