Hi Carol

I've had a quick look through the Boyton Will Indexes that I have formerly held at Somerset House London and have found more than I expected concerning the Dths of Boytons with Irish address's. If this information is of any interest to you it might be better to exchange informationoff of the Rootsweb message board? If so my e-mail address is as follows - peter.breeze1@btinternet.com. Any reply won't be immediate as I'm off to cut the grass after all the rain we've had in recent weeks

Regards
Peter

Hi

I was afraid that your search may have been for an Irish Boyton (Irish Guards). All data I have relates to English Boyton's. I do believe many of the Irish records held in the Post Office Building in Dublin were destroyed at the time of the "Troubles" in the early years of the 20th century. I'll have a look in the Boyton Will Indexes that I have as I believe there was at least one entry concerning an Irish Boyton. You might find it helpful to "Google" Irish Family History?

Peter

According to their marriage registration they were married by banns on 20 July 1935 in St. Michaels Church which ajoins Bishops Storford. Herbert was shown as an"indoor servant" and was living in Munden, Essex at the time. His father was confirmed as George Boyton, horsekeeper. Phyllis' father was confirmed as Nathaniel Carter who I believe dies in 1941. Anyone wishing a copy of the marriage registration contact me.

murray_miles@sympatico.ca

Coincidentally, I am about to order the marriage reg. for Hubert W. Boyton who married Phyllis Evelyn Carter in 3Q 1935 in the Bishops Storford registration distict. I go back through the Carter family from Bishops Stortford. I have some info. on the Boytons but I wanted to prove with the marriage reg. first that I do have the connection. I have also surmised the death date and place for both Hubert and his wife Phyllis. Believe they had at least four children who are probably still living. I am now going to wait a week or so before I order this marriage reg. in the event someone replies to this query and they already have it.

Murray Miles

Could there be a connection with your family tree.
Sorry, I've been out of the loop, had a very sick father-in-law and he passed away...been a rough year. Anyway, I was in contact with a Peter, who turned out to be a distant cousin of mine. He's in England. My great-grandfather, George Boyton (father James, Mother Martha Woodcock) was born in Gloucester, England 1862-ish and he was in Dorset Prison in 1881 during the census. He ended up in New Jersey, USA (by way of hiding in a ship, we think because family said he jumped ship before it landed portside). Ironically, he became chief-of-police in New Jersey. Guess he wanted to clean up his act. So, I've got some information for anyone needed a USA connection. thanks, Ramona Boyton

My grandmother was Alice Lilian Boyton, born in Newham on 12/8/1891 (though shown as September of that year on some records I think). I believe she was related to Gladys Boyton, daughter of a David Boyton, as I have seen a reference that Gladys' family lived on Francis Road, and I'm sure Alice lived there at some point early in her life. If anyone has any information I'd be interested, and can obviously provide information on her family tree to the present time.

There may be a connection here. I've seen elsewhere a reference to a Gladys Boyton, daughter of David Boyton, and the suggestion she had family on Francis Road, east London(Leytonstone..?) My grandmother was born Alice Lilian Boyton, on 12/8/1891 in Newham, and I'm sure at some point in her early life she did indeed live on Francis Road, though exactly when, and with which family members, I've no idea. Any info you may have on her would be most welcome!

Hi,
I'm descended from Jane Boyton (1752) son of John Boyton (1729 of clavering, essex) and Martha Read (I think). I see the IGI has John Boyton also married to Martha Pilgrim who are the parents of Elizabeth (1754), John (1757), Mary (1759), Henry (1761), Sarah (1763) and Joseph (1765). There is no mention of Jane so I'm suspecting she may have been from his previous marriage to Martha Read. Can anyone confirm this?

Hello Peter, It is a long time that I have been in contact with you, and unfortunately have lost your details. I have recently discovered that my distant ancestor of the Greenwich branch of Boytons, originates from Abridge, Epping, Essex; JOHN Boyton; father William Boyton abt:1810 of Bobbingworth, Mother - Sophia Brewer of possibly Lambourne Essex abt 1810. Previously, there was a theory that the branch was linked with Charles Edward Whitfield Boyton of London, but this is now eliminated and rules out the link to the Simpsons. I am wondering if you would have any further information on the branch, it would appear there is a chance that it links with your line or those of others you may know. Regards Simon Boyton

Boyton family originating in Braintree, Bocking & Sudbury, Essex (U.K.)

There are only 25 Boytons on my tree but there must be many more around, given the number of children each family member had.

My paternal Great Grandfather was David Boyton (b 1871) son of another David (b 1844), who was son of yet another David (born c 1823), son of Joseph.

The wives/mothers' names were King, Linsell and Playle (in the same order as above).

Does anyone link up with this?
