Brace Lineage and GED Files

I've retyped the Brace Lineages by J. Sherman Brace and Venner Brace as Word97 documents. I've also entered all names in Family Tree Maker, allowing me to create GED files. I'm willing to email any of these documents to anyone that wants them. All I ask is for updates to YOUR line of the family.

I am hoping you will be able to help me with me husbands Brace line from PA. I also have a copy of the Brace Lineage, but it doesn't help with me problem. In the Lineage on page # 145, ( second edition) Edmund was my husband 3rd GGGrandfather. Edmund's entry seems to appear out of no were, with no connection to parents. The info on Edmund continues thru Pg# 148 and then info on his brother Ellis. I have tried for 15 years to connect these brother to parants, but have hit dead ends. Edmund and most of his children are buried in Erie County, PA, where I live. I have the family bible from 1888, which also has no clues. The other Brace first names in this county include, Stephen 1780, Nathaniel 1797,
Stephen 1810, and Hiram 1809. I am totally stumped. If you could help at all, I would really appreciate it. I will also help you anyway I can. I own most Erie County history books, maps, ect. Thank you in advance.

I don't have (but wish I did have) a hardbound copy of Brace Lineage. If you have it in Word, I could start with that. In exchange I can update you on my side of the tree.

Mike:

I have three Brace Lineage genealogies, each one taking a differant line. I also have a few photogrpahs which may be of interest to you.

EMail me and we can make the arrangements to get them to you. I can burn everything to a CD, which I've done for several other Brace researchers.

Hi Ron
My husbands' Brace lineage has been traced back to Devon and his great, great grandfather Henry Brace, son of George Brace and Elizabeth Mullins. Henry moved to Wales and later to Sunderland. Does this ring any bells with what you have?
Best wishes

Martin, in 1930's a history professor named Brace, teaching for some college out west (Montana?) wrote the Brace Lineage which traced my grandfather back to Adophis deBracci, 1066. He was a field general for William the Conqueror. It went on to trace my lineage through the years in England, then in 1640's Stephan Brace came out of Southampton and was one of the founders of Hartford, Connecticut. Shortly thereafter another Brace came out of England and settled in Connecticut, but went back. Hence, a lot of us Braces came out of New England, then later on Detroit and Pennsylvania. (My old man tells me I can't throw a dead cat anywhere in England without landing on some relatives door step.) This much I remember reading off the top of my head. If you would like a bit more, I'll be chasing up my copy of the Brace Lineage and will have it handy tomorrow. (I usually keep it here at work but I forgot it at home a while back). Hope it helped a bit.

I also descend from Stephen Brace I; however, I don't recall anyone tracing the family back to William the C. I think that would be quite a stretch.

The Brace Lineage to which you refer was written by John Sherman Brace, Bloomsburg, PA, March, 1927.

Another Brace Lineage was written by Venner Edmunds Brace in 1960.

I have both of these Lineages, plus some other stuff, and can burn them all to a CD for anyone that wants it. I entered it all into Family Tree Maker (why, I don't know), so I can also generate reports from that.

Do you have any information on the David and Miron Brace family?
