I'm looking for leads on this family who were living in Bramley, Yorkshire in April 1901:
Joseph Brace, age 23, born Bramley, a Bricklayers Labourer
his wife, Martha Brace, age 22, born Pudsey
his son, Norman Edmund Brace, age 4, born Bramley
his daughter, Eva Brace, age 1, born Bramley
and any children born after the 1901 census was taken.

I believe Martha was my great aunt, Martha Lawton, born in Stanningley, Yorkshire in 1877.

Joseph may have been the son of Joseph and Jane Brace of Bramley.

Thanks,
Evelyn

I am not sure if we are talking the same Eva Brace or not ... But I have been looking for my GR /grandmother Eva for three years. According to the childrens birth certificates she should have been born around 1900 however all of the birth cert state she was born in Hague/horicon NY. We have gone through all those records and do not find her?!... Do you know where they may have setteled or when they came? She would have had children with my grandfather Cassuis williams. They had 11-12 children .
Thanks Tamara

I believe the Eva Brace you are looking for his my grandmother. Her parents were Joseph and Martha (nee Lawton). I have managed to research back to a Joseph Brace c.1845 married to a Jane, so hopefully it is the same family. Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

Nice to make contact with a cousin of sorts... Since I made my post I have discovered that my grandmother wasn't actually a Lawton. Her birth registration says she was, but her baptismal record says her father was Charles Hughes, so she and Martha are related through their mother but not their father. The Calverley website (an excellent resource so I hope you have discovered it) shows Martha and Frances Louisa, along with two sisters, baptized on the same day
1885 12 15 Priscilla Lawton Samuel & Priscilla Park Place Rivetter 1873 08 01
1885 12 15 Sarah Anne Lawton Samuel & Priscilla Park Place Rivetter 1875 08 03
1885 12 15 Martha Lawton Samuel & Priscilla Park Place Rivetter 1877 12 18 .
1885 12 15 Frances Louisa Lawton Charles Hughes & Priscilla Park Place Dressmaker 1882 10 25
Needless to say, this added a new wrinkle to my researches which were already in confusion because half the family records say Samuel Lawton and the other say David...

I am about to leave on holiday for a month - I will contact you when I return and we can share information. My Brace information doesn't go any further back than yours but I have a few records for Priscilla Wild Lawton's side of things. My grandmother, Frances Louisa, emigrated to Canada in 1909, joining my grandfather who had arrived a few months earlier.
