Dear Sarah,
I am noting the year of this email and am hoping I am not too late. My mother, Ruth Buell Jeremiah was Isabel's cousin through the Bachiler side. I am aware of the extensive research Isabel did and am particularily interested in the De Breci (Bracy) ancestors we share. I am hoping none of her work was destroyed. If you could let me know if you still have her work or to whom you gave her work it would be of great assistance.
Thank you,
Deborah J. Rowley

HI
I know this is an old posting but I thought I'd reply in case you would get this..... I am interested in any work Isabel Bracy may have done on the Kenyon family, in particular her own Kenyon family. I am researching this line and am pretty sure I have it figured out all the way back to the RI Kenyon family. If her data is still available, I'd be interested in it!!!!! Please feel free to email me at dragonbard13166@yahoo.com
Thanks!
Robin Moore

Hello. My late grandfather (Gayle Bracy),From Fairhope,AL was adopted by a Joseph and Hannah Bracy, which was just found out by my family at his funeral two years ago. He was born in the early to middle 1900s and Joseph & Hannah were probably born in the 1800s or earlier. If anyone has any information about Gayle's surname before he was adopted that would be great! He has brothers and sisters who were not adopted, but for some reason he was. Anything on his birth parents would be great too. It's quite strange to the family that whoever did his obituary knew that he was adopted, but the family did not, including my father. Even if the person who did the obituary was just told that he was adopted, it's quite strange that the family did not know. If anyone knows anything or can help me find some info about this, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Rebecca Bracy, 1859, Mississippi Slave

I don't know if you may or may not be related to the Rebecca Bracy in this article. Originally from Mississippi, she was brought to California and emancipated but apparently prefered to be returned to Mississippi where she would once again be a lave (I'm assuming she had family still in Mississippi)

NOT FOND OF FREEDOM - About two months ago, seventeen negroes, who had been slaves in Mississippi were brought to this State by their owner, for the purpose of emancipating them, which was accordingly done. So far from enjoying the freedom with which they have been presented, they have become discontented and anxious to return to Mississippi. They were informed that they would not be allowed to live there in a state of emancipation, but determinedly expressed their preference to live as slaves at home than be
free. The only one who has been able to raise sufficient mean to return is a woman named Rebecca Bracy, who will go by the steamer to-day with her two children. She will probably be followed by the others as soon as they are
able.

San Mateo County Gazette
Redwood City, San Mateo County, California
Saturday Morning, October 8, 1859
Hi,
My ancestor is Mary Bracy (aka Bracey, Brasy, Brasey, Brassey), who married William Ramsdell, abt. 1790 probably in Maine.
I know of 3 children:
William Ramsdell - No info
Pauline Ramsdell - probably 1817-1903
- married Joseph Plaisted abt 1845.
*Rufus Ramsdell - a/k/a Rufus Ramsdell Jr.(Our Direct Line)
- Born abt 1825 in Maine, possibly in York,ME.
- Died - York, Maine, possibly in 1905.
- Married in 1855 - Lucy Abbott(Abbot)dau of Elias.
* Many Children from this marriage: Known daughters are Sophia( I think she stayed in Maine) and Laura?
One of the sons: John Ramsdell (Our Line - possibly a sailor) at some point moved to Massachusetts.
Researching the Brac(e)y and Mitchel families of Hinds County, Mississippi

Hi, everyone!

My name is Vincent Davis and I am doing some research of my mother's maternal side of my family tree, which consists of the Brac(e)y, Mitchel, and Sutton families of Hinds County, Mississippi.

So far my research has turned up the following:

My grandmother is Sweetie Bracey, who was married to Ben Charles Camel. Her parents are Clay Bracy, Sr. and Ceney (Mitchel) Bracey. It is in all likelihood that Ceney's real name was Lucinda(she also went by Lucendy, Cendy, and Cinda). Additionally, our Bracey name sometimes is spelled Bracy(depending on who you talked to). I know that Ceney Mitchel was married to a man possibly by the name of Hurise Mims before she married Clay Bracy. Clay and Ceney had Clay, Jr.(Last I heard was in Killeen, Texas), William, Everett, Sweetie(my grandmother), Flora, Addie, Ella, and Lucinda. I am told that Flora, Addie, and possibly Ella were by Ceney's first husband (Hurise Mims). I am told that Clay, Sr. was Black and part Native American, possibly part Mexican, possibly part Caucasian.

As for my great-grandmother Ceney, her mother was Peggy Mitchel, who was widowed at a young age, but I do not know to whom she was married. Also, Ceney & Clay lived with Peggy for a time after they were married. Again, my research tells me that everyone was in Hinds County, Mississippi.

Great-grandfather Clay, Sr. was raised by his grandparents, Frank & Louise Sutton. I am told that his mother's name was Corinna Sutton, though I do not know what became of her in that her parents raised Clay. I do not know if this is true or not, but I am told that Clay's father possibly is a Caucasian named Augustus Bracy. Again, he was raised in Hinds County, Mississippi.

One last thing: one the young ladies posted in January about her looking for family also. This young lady also posted a pic of her great-grandparents George and Mary (Bracey) Evans. I would love to know how Mary Bracey could be related to my great-grandfather Clay Bracy, Sr. because I look exactly like Mary and no, this is not an exaggeration. In fact, it's downright scary yet exciting.

Hopefully from this info, someone out there can help me answer some questions, as well as possibly answer some questions of their own if they are looking into the same families as well.

Any help or information that you can offer would be GREATLY appreciated. If you can help, please reply to me here on this message board or email me at vincentdavis72@comcast.net or vincentdavis72@yahoo.com .

I look forward to talking to ANYONE who might be able to help me.

Much love & God bless!!!
Thomas BRACY-m-Waite WING NY/NH/RI

Do you know our missing Thomas? He marrried Waite WING abt 1799 in either Smithfield, RI or Richmond, NH.By 1818 they were in Clinton, Oneida,NY where their son William Henry BRACY was born. They moved on to New Haven,Oswego, NY where they owned land in the 'Butterfly Corners' area. Thomas died 19 Aug 1828 and is buried at the Methodist Epicopal Church in New Haven.

Waite WING was the daughter of John WING and Margaret BUFFAM. She was born 5 Oct 1777/78 in Smithfield,RI (possibly Richmond, NH) and died 14 May 1858 in New Haven, Oswego, NY. She is also buried at the Methodist Episcopal Church in New Haven.

The former Madison County, NY Historian, Isabel BRACY, was my relative. She looked in vain for proof of Thomas for over 60 years. Thomas where did you come from? Who were your parents? Who were your siblings?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a long shot but:

Rachel Bracey married my gggrandfather Thomas Cothran in Johnson County, IL. I cannot find her after this time. I found Thomas with a 19 year old Rachel in the 1850 census for Lawrence County Arkansas. I don't think this is Rachel. It does not say on her marriage certificate that she needed anyone to sign so I figure this Rachel may be Thomas's daughter.
Neither Rachel's show up after 1850 and by 1860 Thomas is married to Penelope Huskey and is living in Howell County, Missouri just on boarder of AR.

Looking for Mary Bracy from Robt Cnty TN mid-1800s

My great-grandfather was Noah L (Lurton?) Alley (married Georgia Head). The background on his parents is very sketchy. My research has lead me to believe Mary (Elizabeth?) Bracy Alley was his grandmother that raised him. It could also be that this is his mother's mother because his parents may not? have been married. It also appears that his mother (and have also heard his father) died very soon after he was born around 1885. His grandmother had a daughter named Ida Holt that had several children, among them Troy, Jessie, Lottie and Verner. His father may have been buried close to Nichols Farm in Robertson County and his mother may have been buried in a "Fort?" cemetery near Harmony Baptist Church. Any info anyone has on this is appreciated. I'm close to a dead end on this.

Lemuel and Frank Bracy of Detroit

I'm interested in any information on this family. Lemuel and Frank were born in New York. They were the sons of E. C. Bracy and his wife Eliza. They also had a sister, Clara A. Bracy. The family subsequently moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Frank was an artist by trade and Lemuel was a photographer. Lemuel married Ann Petley and they had a son, Edwin Robert Bracy. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer

Dear Marsha,

I am writing to you as the new Madison County historian.

I've been going through the files in the basement and came across a pile of genaeological information (family trees and such) compiled by Isabel Bracy.

It is one no use to our archives, but I can't bring myself to throw it away. Unfortunately, Isabel didn't leave behind any heirs.

Would you be interested in this information? If so, I'd be happy to send it to you.

Sincerely,
Sarah Davies
Madison County Historian
(315) 366-2453

Re: Bracys in Mo.

My name is Leslie Bracy and my email is lesliebracy@yahoo.com. I am working from a friend's computor and found your postings. My father is John Carr Bracy (1931) who is the son of Raymond Bracy(1904), son of John Carr and Matilda(Filenger) Bracy. My grandfather, Raymond was married to Daisy. They had four children, Russell, Betty, John and Norris. The family lived in Quincy, Illinois when Betty, John and Norris were born. Raymond worked on the Quincy Memorial Bridge around 1929-30 as it was WPA project. Matilda lived with them (in Quincy) until she contracted TB and finished out her years in the TB sanitorium. Raymond left home at the early age of nine,
but remained close to his siblings, Goldie, Evelyn, Duncan and Donald throughout his life. Tilton is unknown to me unless he died as a child. I will try to find more information on John Carr and William. William is said to have died in North or South Carolina. I would like to exchange information. My family, the John Carr Bracy family and his brother, the Norris Bracy family reside here in Billings, Montana since 1975 when they moved from Quincy. Hope to hear from you.
Leslie Bracy
