Braddy Family from Missouri

I have just started working on my family tree but I do not have much to go on.

My mother's mom was Mabel Louise Braddy and she was born in abt 1927 in Portageville, New Madid, Missouri, USA and she died Oct 1998 in Niles, Berrien MI, USA. She married Marion Edward Bridges and they moved to Niles, Berrien MI, USA.

She had a sister named Jean Braddy, and brothers named William "Billy" Braddy and Arnold Braddy. I am not sure about more brothers or sisters.

I think her mother was named Middie (not sure of her last name) and I do not know her fathers first name. Just his last name, Braddy.

My great-grandmother Middie remarried to her second husband Mr. Barker. However, I do not know his first name.

My mother told me that her mother, Mabel Louise Braddy, stated that her family lived on farms in Missouri and they worked as sharecroppers.

If you have any information please email me at cauffman@hotmail.com

Are there any Braddys in North Carolina that might assist me in finding info re my great grandfather's family? He was Joseph B. Braddy, b.12/24/1824. Joe was married to a S. Braddy (Maiden name unknown). As of Dec 1869, they had at least three children, Margaret L. b. 1867 d. abt 1916 in Jackson, WY, William George Washington b. 10 July 1868 d.1954 in Texas City, TX and M.E. b. late 1869 and died in Dec 1869 in Tarrant County, Tx. Joe's wife S. die March 1870 in Tarrant County, TX. I suspect that they had other children that may have been grown by the time they were in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, TX. Joe later married Fanny (?) from Indiana and they had four additional children. Please contact RogerBraddy2004@yahoo.com.

William L. Braddy - Ray County, MO

William L. Braddy (the name was later modified to "Brady") was born about 1806 in North Carolina. He and his wife Pearcy (nee Price) along with their sons Zephaniah, Patrick, Thomas and Joseph (born in TN en route to MO) moved to Ray County, Missouri around 1838. They had 3 daughters in Missouri - Edith, Zelphia and Sarah before William died in 1851. The sons with the exception of Patrick all moved to Colorado after the Civil War. Pearcy married Furney Hall soon after William's death. Furney's wife Zelphia had died before William and was Pearcy's sister. After Furney died in 1876, Pearcy married once more to William Howard. Any info on the Brady's or any extension of their family would be greatly appreciated.

John Abner Brady or Braddy

I have been able to trace Abner Brady to the 1850 census in Surry County in which he is listed as Abram Brady. I also have an Abner and Abel Braddy in the Wayne County, N C census. John A Brady the eldest son of Abner was born in Wayne County, NC per a marriage record. Does anyone have any information on this family. I have Abner's wife listed as Mary Ann. Other children of John Abner and Mary Ann are Tabitha, Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Eliza J, Emily, Nathan, Martha Virginia, and Lydia E. I have no information on Brady prior to 1850 and can only find Braddy in Wayne county. Any information on this mystery family will be most appreciated.

Braddy Surname

I have quite a bit of information on several branches of the Braddy surname. I cannot assist the two inquiries presently on the message board. I am seeking information on "Joe" Braddy and wife, Fannie (maiden name unknown). Joe ran supply wagon trains between Kansas City, KS and Ft.Worth/Dallas/Abilene, TX. He primarily operated out of Texas. One of his sons, William George Washington Braddy, was my grandfather and grew up in North central Texas. Other children were Margaret L. Braddy Simpson (dob about 1867) (Married Chester Simpson), Charley Braddy (dob about 1883), Richard "Dick" Braddy (dob about 1868), William George Washington Braddy (dob 07/10/1868), Sallie Braddy (dob about 1874) and George E. Braddy (dob about 1876). Joe, Fannie and all children are in Taylor County, TX census during 1880. Fannie, Charlie were later noted in a "History of Pontotoco County, OK Vol II, Page 197" There appears to be some connection between my branch of Braddy's from Texas and the Oklahoma branch, but I have been unable to make the connection. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Alfred Braddy of Rutherford Co., North Carolina

I am searching for information on Alfred Braddy who, in 1855, married Elizabeth Lovelace in Rutherford Co. NC. They were married by Amos Harrill, Justice of the Peace. Their marriage bond was wintessed by R. L. Gilkey and posted by Jesse Rogers. They are listed in the 1860 Rutherford Co. census, he being 25 years old and she being 23. I have found an A. A. Bradly in the 1850 census, age 15, living with parents Edward and Nancy Bradly in Broad River Twp., Rutherford Co. I have not done an entire search line by line of the 1850 census to try to find Alfred due to lack of time. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me who he might be.

Thanks in advance,
Greg Lovelace

The 'Braddy branch' of my family is about to fall off, my father, Geoffrey, and his younger brother, Derek, having succeeded in having two daughters apiece!

I have had great difficulty in tracing my family much further back than about three generations, i.e., my own father, his father Walter, and his father Harry. I know that a later generation were possibly merchants in the new town area of Colchester .......but that's it!

Any idea where the family came from?

Hello,
I am looking for information on my grandfather. James Braddy was born in 1888 or 89 in Mass. He was in KY. in 1915-16 at the age of 27 yrs. Listed as a machinist on my mothers birth certificate. Unfortunately that is the only information I have as he left shortly after she was born to parts unknown. If anyone on this board could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Robyn

I am trying to find if there is any connection between the BRADDY family of NC and the BRADY family of NC. My John Spencer Brady was b. ca 1784 in NC. He married Mary Polly SIMCOCK in Wilkes Co. NC in 1817. They moved into Overton County TN by 1820. John Spencer went by the names of Spencer and also John. His children had such names as Owen Berry, Tabitha, Hopy, Thomas, James, Ingebird, Juliann, Marion, Rebecca. I am looking for the parents and siblings of John Spencer BRADY of North Carolina. Thank you. Shirley
Joseph W. Braddy ~Atlanta, GA Bef. 1900

I am researching a Joseph W. BRADDY who married Mamie Estelle Morris(?). They lived in Atlanta, GA in the 1890s. He died before the 1900 Census. They had two children, Mamie Irene and Virgil. After Braddy died, Mamie Estelle married Frederick W. Gittus. Atlanta City Directories have the name spelled BRADDY, but it could have been BRADY.
