You were not harsh. I would love to find this connection also. I was very excited to see the Bradford family and Taylor family listed so close together. I was researching London, Middlesex, England when I found the record. When I get a little more settled I will most certainly be looking into it. Have you discovered any ship records from England as to them coming to the Colonies?

What I have are church records from England, from a church that is only a plaque on a corner now. Only a few of the records survived the burning. It shows the Bradford family and the Taylor family listed within a few pages of each other and a few years. I am working on this but all of my records are in storage at this time. I am going to seperate Vespacian from the line until I can get a little more information and try to prove this is the connection. I am sorry if this caused problems. I thought I had already done this a few years ago.

Titus Flavius Vespasian built the Colliseum and the Temple of Jupiter. This was in about 40 AD. That line of ancestry can be traced through pretty much anywhere. There were 3 Emperors that were Vespasian I think. Titus-Flavius and then his sons I think Titus and Flavius. I don't exactly know where my link is somewhere through Augustus Vespasian. I'll see what I can find.

Lori

Jenkins5286, I am also researching the same line of Bradfords but please note that Robert John Bradford and Joanna Freeman were married in Butler County, OHIO (no Butler Co. in Indiana I know of). Their specific date of marriage if you want it is 10 December 1818. I am seeking both parents of both of them though, but his mother's given name is reported to be Jane.

Do you think it is possible that they were carrying the Vespasian name down in there family tree. With most Royalty that is how it works. Vespasian is of roman origin from the roman emporers Vespasian. I am a descendent of the family my great grandmother was Vincenza Vespasian. As far as I know Vespasian is a Surname.

Isaac Bradford

Isaac Bradford (1818-1894) of Lawrenceville, GA is my 3rd great grandfather....and that is where I am stuck. I can not find his father. All I know is that he was born sometime around 1790, possibly in SC, and died sometime between 1837-1840 since his last child was born around 1838 and his wife Sarah was listed as head of house hold on the 1840 census. I see many people have Nicholas Bradford listed as his father but on the 1850 census Sarah is listed as a widow and Nicholas lives next door to her with his wife and children. Joshua Bradford also lives close by so I am making an assumption that they are all closely related but I haven't made any ties yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has any information on Isaac's 1st wife Jenny 1815-1846 (my lineage)

Joseph Bradford of Maine

I have researched my family tree back to a Joseph Bradford of Maine. All I can find myself is that he was born about 1785. I have found other family trees that give more information about him, but I am unable to find the information myself and want to be able to verify before I move on.

The information I do have on him follows:
Wife: Adarinda Elinor Thompson (also named as Eleanor Thompson), born about 1784.
Son: Charles born February 29, 1808 in the town of Camden, Knox County, Maine; died April 22, 1876 in the town of Knox in Waldo County Maine --(Please note the first Knox is a county and the second Knox is a town, which is not in Knox County, but in Waldo County);
Son: Elijah born about October 1817 in Camden, Knox County, Maine;
Daughter: Adeline, born about 1823;
Daughter: Evaline, born about 1827.

Son Charles marries Louisa (or Lovina) Batchelder and has four children, the first of which may be from another marriage, I assume, only because of the age differences in the children.
Son: Joseph W. Bradford, born March 7, 1836 in Knox, Waldo County, Maine;
Son: Charles Albert Bradford, born July 13, 1842 in Knox, Waldo County, Maine and died October 4, 1908 in Knox;
Daughter: Rachel, born about 1844;
Daughter: Melissa, born about 1847.

Son Joseph marries twice: once to Francis Maker and once to Abbie Douglass. Among his children is a son Harry Burton Bradford. Among Harry Burton Bradford's children is a son Milton Lewis Bradford, who had two daughters and one son, Milton Lewis Bradford, Jr., who had only three daughters. I am the youngest daughter.

Making my way back to the beginning of this post, I have found trees that overlap my family tree, include the Joseph Bradford I am questioning as being born in Rockport, Knox County, Maine and then lead back to the Gov. William Bradford. However, I can't find any more information myself
with regard to Joseph Bradford and where he was born, etc.

If anyone has this information or can tell me where to verify the same, I would greatly appreciate it as I am trying to gather all this information and complete the family tree before August for a family reunion. My aunt, the only living child of Milton Bradford, Sr., would be absolutely thrilled to have concrete evidence that she is descended from Gov. Bradford.

Thanks for your help.

Jenn

This line has been researched time and again. Our common cousin, Adam Bradford, has carried on extensive work by his grandfather, Dr. Vance Bradford. You can review Adam's work at http://www.delmarvabradfords.com/

With the evolution of using DNA technology, Adam, et al, have been able to provide more definitive research on our ancestry (lots of deep ancestry reading); however, to no immediate avail, the line is, for the moment, perpetually "stuck" with "Snowhill Sam!"

Good luck!
Hello, I am a descendant of the "Bradford's" listed in the book by Vance Arthur Bradford. Samuel Bradford is my 6th great grandfather. I am trying to find out who his parents are. I have hit a block! I am short of jumping on a plane and flying somewhere to get information. Does anyone know his parents and if it is Capt. John Bradford? Are any of these Bradfords Mayflower Descendants?

A researcher who began the Bradford DNA Project and who tracked down male descendants of other Bradfords in VA and Conn. and compared them to his own male dna has eliminated any match between Snowhill Sam and any of the other Bradfords in that time frame in that area. Instead, the DNA led to the Braidwoods of Scotland. Also, please note that there is no existing information that his first wife was named Sarah. We don't know where that name came from.

Many thanks again for the extensive work Adam! Always good to keep in contact over the years, much like our own grandparents--admittedly, I'm not as active as I have been in the past. Interesting story from Ms. Virginia, as my GGM was Martha Frances Bradford along the same lines of Issac Neely Bradford, of which I can claim I am my own 1st cousin several times removed... Reading the evolving material over the years from oral history to Dr. Vance's written work has just been a wonder to me and certainly worth the look to our future Bradford progeny. Thanks again for carrying the torch on and offering clarity to this Snowhill Maryland Bradford saga.

Fondly your cousin, Michelle Arthur Heckle
mheckle@gmail.com

Billie,
Can you give us the birth & death dates for your Francis Mary (Bradford) Wolf as well as the names of her parents and how she traces back to Adam Bradford (1775-1849)? This may help us place her in the correct family.
There is a photo of the memorial stone for Adam on page 55 of the "Bradford Descendants" book by Vance Arthur Bradford, M.D.
Thank you,
Leona

Hi Billie,
I wish we were working on the same family but I'm just not sure. I don't have a Peter Bradford in my Bradford family as well as an Adam so I don't think so. I really don't have much to go on other than what I had posted about my direct ancestor Lloyds brother Robert. Thanks for writing but right now I can't connect.
Vicky
