I can tell you more about the individual families of all Lilian Brailsfords born pre 1911. I have already sent for the marriage certificate, as you say it will give me leads into her age & birthplace. She was the mother of my Aunt, so all her son & I know at the moment is who & when she married & that she died in South Elmsall, which comes under the Hemsworth registration district, Plus she was acording to my Aunt before she died that she came from Chesterfiled.

To be certain which Lilian Brailsford is yours, you will need more specific information on her year of birth. Do you know when or where Lilian died? This will perhaps give us her age at death & a better idea of her birth year. There were three Lilian Brailsfords born in the Chesterfield District who could potentially fit your marriage to Alfred Wright in 1926 Hemsworth District. If you don't know her death details, I'd recommend the purchase of their marriage certificate, which will give you her father's name & her age.

Looking for info' on a Lilian Brailsford.
Birth date unknown could be approx' 1895 - 1900 +.
Could have been born in Chesterfield Derbyshire. As her daughter Edna, used to speak of the family coming from Chesterfield. Anything on her family would be much appreciated.
We do know she was married in 1926 in South Elmsall near Hemsworth, & that her husband Arthur Wright came from Staffordshire.
Hence her being the one from Chesterfield.

Searching on behalf of my cousin for information on William Brailsford, born 1838, Brampton, Derbyshire,UK.
William married (believed +/- 1858)Marie(possibly Kershaw),
born +/- 1836 France.
They had the following children:-

Ellen born 1862 Nottingham

William was a lace manufacturer in Nottingham, he died in 1874, aged 36 years.
If anyone has any background information on William or Marie, particularly if William was connected to Mary Ann Brailsford of "Bramley Apple" fame, please let me know.

Just seen your message from 5 yrs back! I had an aunt, Hilda Brailsford, born Stocksbridge 1913. Her siblings were Charles b.1911, Norman b. 1912, Olive b.1914, Elsie b.1917,Walter b.1919, Lily,b.1921. Also Alice & Arthur -I don't know their birth year.
Elsie's married name was Travis & she lived in Thurgoland
Their parents were Ernest b.1884 & Annie (Hogan) b.1891.
If we are talking about the same family, I would love to read Aunt Elsie's journal.

Perhaps I've mis-understood your posting, but I've checked the BRAILSFORD marriages for UK in Jun 1923 & cannot find Arthur, nor any other BRAILSFORD marriage in Blackburn in that quarter. Perhaps the registration was indexed as a variant of BRAILSFORD? Who did he marry? Do you have a copy of his marriage cert to confirm his age at that time? How certain are you that his birth was registered Mar 1872? My reason for asking is that there was another birth registered for Arthur BRAILSFORD in Nottingham [7b 306] in Mar 1871. I should be able to dig up some info for you, but first I need further information about his issue, siblings, or perhaps occupation/residence to ensure we're talking about the same person. Married june quarter of 1923 in the blackburn district vol 8e page 796. arthur's birth was registered in nottingham march quarter 1872 7b 248

married ada turner. had a son called cyril (1905) who died in 1998. he married a lottie evelyn wilmot. they had 3 children, victor winston, geoffrey brian and albert james (1930) who died in 2000. albert james married my nan, agnes beatrice dunn (1937) who died last year.
any information on my grandad albert (who died in nottingham) or his brothers would be greatly appreciated.

Joseph Mellor was my grandfather. He was born in Stretford, Manchester. Brothers William and Frank, sister Margaret. Joe Mellor. He died 11 August 1931. He served as a town coucillor for the East Ward of Barnsley and was for a number of years a trades union organiser (National Union of General & Municipal Workers) His son died in infancy. His daughters, Margaret (my mother) and Gladys.

I see your Thomas Alfred in the 1891 census aged 6 & born in Paddington, with parents & siblings. Another household includes 21 year old Mary (sister of Thomas). There is no doubt about the age of Mary & Alfred, as I have seen the census images, and they are very clear.

In the 1901 census there is a family including 14 year old Thomas BRAILSFORD born Paddington. Since there were no other families in Paddington, this is likely to be your Thomas Alfred. He is brother-in-law of Mary LONGSTAFF as follows:

He was my grand father Born 1884 in London. Father James Brailsford born 1840 Mother Mary Casemore born 1847 (This is all on 1881 &1891 census). His parents die while he is young His brothers and sisters are all on 1901 census but we think he was put in an orphanage. He re-appears in 1907 when he marries Rose Lousa Lavers. I want to know what happened to him between 1891 and 1907

I am looking for John A Brailsfords Parents names. I seen a site that said it was Thomas Russell Brailsford and Elizabeth Brock and it also said they were african american. I could only find Thomas R on the 1930 census living next door to John A, but the race was white. The 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 says white as race on John A. Brailsford. Im not sure if there was a misprint or there was a mix of race. My family is caucasian. Im trying to find john A. Brailsfords ancestors. His DOB is 1/8/1881 and died after 1930. his first wifes name is Carrie and his second wife is Frances or Francia E. Can anyone help?

John Alexander BRAILSFORD was born 1881, son of Thomas Richardson BRAILSFORD & Elizabeth BROCK.

He married firstly Carrie I (1883-1925) and had several children. After his first wife's death he remarried to Frances Elizabeth Keister (1896-1989). This was also her second marriage, after the death of her husband. She had three children from her previous marriage. Together, John & Frances had one issue, John Guerry BRAILSFORD (1928-1997).

My son's gggrandparents is John Alexander Brailsford and Carrie Porter Inman, his ggrandfather is William Moultrie Brailsford. I dont know who John alexander's parents are but I did find him on the 1900,1910,1920,and 1930 census.He was born Jan. 1881 in South Carolina. The 1910-1930 census they were in Friendship, Clarendon Co., SC. Is this your relation?
