I am a descendant of John Samuel Brannon 1845 Gilmer,WV - 1905 Mason, WV. He married Jane Catherine Foglesong 14 Dec 1866 Jackson, WV. His parents are Samuel C Brannon and Catherine Hardway. They married in 1844 Gilmer, WV. The following excerpt was taken from, " History of The Great Kanawha Valley With Family History And Biographical Sketches"

John S Brannon dates his birth from February 1, 1845, his place of nativity being Gilmore County, WV. His father was Samuel Brannon, born May 27, 1823 in the county above mentioned. He was the son of John and Sarah (Flenner) Brannon both natives of old Virginia. The children of John Brannon and wife are George and Samuel. The last mentioned came to Jackson County, WV, in 1845 where he has since resided. In 1844 he married, in Gilmore County, to Catherine Hardway and these are their children: John S, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth, Nancy, Hannah, Louisa, Nettie and Dora. His son John S Brannon, who is subject of our sketch, came to Mason County in 1882, where he remained for two years, then went to Putnam county, where he lived for three years and returned to Mason in 1887. His marriage took place December 16, 1866, in Mason county, to Jane C Foglesong, The names of their children are: William A, Mary C, Maggie L, Nancy E, George R, Otho D, Herbert V, and Oran C. Mr Brannon has followed the profession of teaching for 23 years. Meantime, he has been engaged in farming and merchandising for two years. In 1864 he enlisted in the Ninth West Virginia Infantry, and was discharged in 1865. He made a good soldier, served faithfully and loyally and took part in the following battles: Cloyd Mountain, Lynchburg, Carter's Farm, First Winchester, Martinsburg, Berryville, Second Winchester, Fisher's Hill and Cedar Creek. Mr Brannon and his wife are members of the United Brethern Church, and are highly respected people in their community where they reside.

Looking for marriage date/info on my gggrandmother Emily R. Brannon(1843, GA) and her second? husband, Albert G Langford(1810, District of Columbia). Emily was CSA widow(1862) of Samuel J Murdock; they were married in Macon Co. AL in 1859. She and Albert G. are married and living in Floyd Co, Ga by 1880 census. Her aunt, Emeline Brannon was Albert G Langford's 1st wife; they are listed in Macon Co Al on 1860 census. I am assuming that Albert G and Emily R Brannon(Murdock) married in Macon Co sometime after his first wife's death.

My grandfather was william c. Brannon born in 1900 in alba,tx. His father which is my great grandfather thomas r. Brannon was born in alabama in 1878 my grandfather william c. Brannon married maggie ruth reed which they had my dad thomas r.m. brannon and he was born in 1938 and passed away in 2006. I felt bad for my dad cause by the time he was three his parent's william and ruth had already passed away. But i think my great great grandfather is thomas brannon from alabama was in the civil war. I have been researching to find out my brannon side for me and my dad.

This too is the story that my grandfather Kenneth Alexander Brannon told me. That there were 3 brothers and that his father was the only one to survive their escape from Germany.

My grandmother, Mary Allen m. to Charlie Brannon, died as the result of a house fire abt. 1930. Her parents were Willie Cavitt and David Edward Allen. Mary and Charlie had approx. 10 children (maybe 9) and I believe one of the children also died from the fire. I am guessing from what I do know, that they lived in Rains TX and the fire was probably there as well. If anyone has any information about where they lived when the fire happened, an actualy date, where she might be buried, etc... I would really appreciate it. I would also be happy to share any information I have on the Brannon, Cavitt, Allen family.

James Andrew Brannon was my ggrandfather. He was married to Mary Ann P. Lambert but she divorced him in 1900 on the grounds of desertion. He left her with his sister Ella Newman of Old Glory, TX in Aug. 1897 and to my knowledge never know what happened to him.
Wondering if the James Brannon in the 1930 census of Wichita Falls TX could be him?

My daughter's fiance is a descendant of John Manson Brannon. His grandfather is Stephen F Brannon. Stephen's father is Peter Alexander Brannon (the grandson of John Manson Brannon.) Peter A. Brannon was the 3rd director at ADAH (Alabama Dept of Archives and History.)

Hello, my name is Misty Brannon Caudle formerly from WV. now in TN. I was messing around on the internet hoping to find out more about my family. Unfortunately, everyone here is concerned about ppl from the past and not ppl currently living. My mom Evelenna Brannon lived the first half of her life in Romney, WV and then moved to Martinsburg WV when we were really young. She is a very tight lipped, personal kinda person and won't tell me anything about her past at all. It would be great to connect w/family out there I've never known or met. At the Branam Surname DNA Project we have learned some earlier assumptions in relationships has proved to be incorrect. The fact that Brannon, Branham, Branum, Branon, Branam, and recently a Brannan line that have proved to be related by DNA, are found under such varied spellings doesn't help. If you click on the line below, then click on Y-Results you will see different Bran??? lines....Related groups divided by colors. Lines waiting to find a match listed separately below.

hello my name is artie inez brannon i trip over your message with helen brannon golden my great grand dad was ishmael brannon i dont know much about his siblings but i know he had an unmarried sister name mary ( polly) born 1829ish she had twin children name franklin richard (reford) brannon his sister frances america brannon also census in georgia 1850 habersham co list a female kb born 1831, a female sb born 1835 and mary all living with nancy but no husband. i would love to know more about your family and any help you can give me.

I assume that Janice and John W are inquiring concerning the same John Calvin Brannon. My info doesn't agree with what you have given. I have an Andrew Jackson who has a brother, Calvin L b. 1845, and they are 2 of 14 children of Harrison C Brannon. They live in the Coffee/Crenshaw County area, Alabama. (Bullock Community)

I also have a couple of John Calvins but the info doesn't agree.
