Dear Heather,
My name is Lia Reutens and I am 23 years old, living in Australia. My parents migrated from Singapore in their early 20's but regularly go back to visit family. My father is Steven Reutens (yes, the family name Steven is still going strong!) and i believe that we must share the same gggggfather (or so i've been told). A lot of my father's side is still in Singapore, and i will be visiting them later this year. Where do you write from?? Regards, xLia

Leonard Branson born about 1760 St Mary's MD and family

I am trying to seek some verification on this family and wondered if anyone had some documentation other than the genealogy that has been repeated.

1. Says Leonard married Polly Gay or Guy. What proves this? Is there anything that even lists his wife's name while alive?

2. Says Elizabeth Hogarg & variations married his son Henry in 1817 in Scott Co, VA.

a) By 1811 this Henry lived in Knox Co, KY
b) In 1814 his daughter Hannah was born in KY
c) Scott Co wasn't even created till 1820 but it came partially from Russell Co, VA where another Henry lived.

3. Says his son Hezekiah married Elizabeth Ely. Hezekiah's wife is an Elizabeth. His son Nimrod married Melinda Ely. It's said one of his daughter's married an Ely. But does anyone have proof such as a DCT or marriage record documenting this?

Thank you!

I just posted a new thread about this family. Henry and Hezekiah match the HH of Leonard in 1810 Washington Co, VA. There is a different Leonard in Stokes in 1800.

I was recently reading some articles about Jared Branson and some familial ties with the Longmires. In one recently archived Branson post here on Rootsweb I ran across what could only be construed as a spurious account tying particular Garrett, Longmire, and Turner families together in a line leading up to Jared Branson. Just for the record there was no daughter of Col Thomas Turner named Susanna ergo no marriage of said Susanna to William Longmire. While it is well known that Wm Longmire's wife was indeed named Susanna, she was not the daughter of Col Turner. Nor has it ever been remotely shown that her last name was Marshall for that matter.

I have traced back enough to find that my ggg grandfather was Rueben who is a brother to Thomas and his son Reuben is the one who Branson, MO is named after. Reuben had a son Martin, who had a son Dennis, who's son was Joseph who is my father. I'm not sure how we are related but there is defineitly a link in our families. My email address is sgbranson@yahoo.com. I would very much appreciate any information including the article that you may have. My GGG grandfather Rueben would have been an uncle to the Reuben that started Branson.

Hello....I am related to Thomas Branson as well..at least one of the Thomas Branson's...It's been a while since I have researched this but from what I remember Thomas Branson is one of my g grandfathers and his son Reuben...one of my g uncles...is the person who Branson MO is named after. He didn't really start the town, but I think it was something about him running the Post office for that area so the town was named after him. I have a 3-4 page article about it that I found online. If you like, send me an email at Workoutgirl_72@yahoo.com and I will send you the link so you can read it too. Its very informative.

On a side note, my family has always known we were descended from the same family that Branson was named after, and back in the early 1980's my dad got a call from somebody at the courthouse in Branson who said we were next in line to inherit some property there because none of the other descendants wanted it. So my dad turned it down too, of course, because he didn't want to pay taxes on some land in a small town that nobody had ever heard of. And then a few years later, Branson took off and became the town it is now. And I have to laugh at all the people in line to inherit this land who turned it down! lol Who knows....Silver Dollar City could be built on our inheritance!

Hi Stacy,
This line has always been a bit of a mystery. In the 1850 census Wythe, presumed wife Jane, presumed daughter Sarah C. and presumed daughter Sarah A. are living in Hopkins Co., KY. with a Sarah BRANSON b. 1812 (too late to be his mother and I don't have another likely Sarah so I don't know who she is). Also living with them is an Ann BRANSON aged 21. Could be Ann TIMMONS (wife of Baylos) but too late. I don't know who she is.

In 1860 the child b. 1846 identified as Sarah A. (1850) is now L.A. identified as male, same age. Older Sarah gone. Ann gone. Sarah C. still there.

In 1870 Wythe (age 47) and Jane (age 50) still there but no children. Interestingly, you say Sarah C. (who would be 20 years old) married George BIBB. George BIBB age 26, Clark BIBB age 20 and Georgia 10 mos. are living with Wythe. Don't know where Sarah is. Maybe she died in childbirth?

I haven't found Wythe and Jane in a census later than 1870. Don't know if they emigrated to MO.

Do you have the date Sarah died in St. Louis?

My BRANSON line (Paulina,m Wythe's sister) who married Joshua BROWNING) emigrated to Crawford Co., later Laclede Co. after 1850 after Joshua died presumably to live with or near her children, some of whom had already emigrated.

Sorry I can be more help. Do you have any info on Wythe's lineage before Liner? We're still trying to pin down which Lionel/Lindell Amos descended from.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Yvonne Bowers
ybowers@gmail.com
Listmom, Boardmom, Webmom
"Most Wanted" http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/branson.html
Thomas BRANSON/Elizabeth DAY family file:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/branson/WC_TOC.HTM

I trace my lineage back to Andrew Branson. My father Paul Branson, his father Clarence Branson, his grandfather Francis Marion Branson, his great-grandfather, William Branson and his great-great-grandfather Andrew Branson. I have been searching for Andrew's parents. Andrew's father was probably named Thomas, since Andrew named his first son Thomas. Thomas and Jane Painter had a son born in 1772 named Thomas Jr. in Frederick County VA. I have not been able to find any information on this Thomas Branson, especially marriage, children or death, but his birth fits the time frame. I have not been able to locate another Andrew or Thomas that would fit in. In one record I found that Andrew's middle name started with L., which may have been the same middle name as his great-great-grandfather Thomas L. Branson. My mother was born in Cumberland County, IL.

I'm trying to find information on a Henry Branson. He was born around 1847 and the only Henry Branson I can find lived with the Lemon Family when he was 14, and the Green Family when he was 24, according to the US Census. I don't know if he was orphaned or what. I'm just trying to find his parents. I know he is from the Gasconde, Third Creek, Mountain Grove and Wright, Missouri area.

Henry married Letitia Bruton (aka Lutitia Broatan).

Thula Ann Branson (my Great-Grandmother) was born October 5, 1885 and died August 26, 1930 and was buried in Elijah, MO. Her brothers and sisters were: Harv Branson, Gal Woodyworth Branson, Herman Branson, Lee Branson (1/2 Brother), Senneth Branson married Jim Green, Permelia Branson married Elice Osborne.

Thula Ann married William Harvey Tackitt. He was born on December 12, 1882 and died on March 5, 1961 and was buried in San Jose, CA. Their daughter, Della Isabella Tackitt-Rushing is my paternal grandmother.

Thanks for any and all help.

No, this Robert Branson died in 1854 in Delaware County Indiana. His wife was Elizabeth Hodgson. I have speculated that Andrew could be tied to the Thomas Branson/Jane Painter line since several of Andrew's children were born in Ohio.

Just wondering - could the Andrew Branson you mention be Robert A. Branson, b. 1802 to Robert Branson and Bulah Painter?

Glad to be of service. I still keep adding to the website nearly every week. Just added a new photo last night.

Andrew Branson and my 3rd great-grandpa Thomas were very closely associated all their lives. These days there are tons of descendants of both still right there in central MO.

Andrew Branson was born 1779 (or about then), not 1789. Did you type too fast?
