Brasel in MS, AR

I am looking for information about the Brasel line in Prentiss Co., MS. My father is ELTON LEE BRASEL. His father was ROY LEE BRASEL and his mother was ALTA BERTHA DUNAHOO (Dunahoe). There were three younger brother named Ellis Dean, Jerry Dale and James Richard. I have run every search I can on here and have hit a dead end each time.
I do know that Roy Lee died 1954ish in Arkansas.
Any help would be appreciated deeply!

Do you know where in Germany they came from? Harold is not a familiar name to the Germans in our family from the Duvier and Poggendorf area.

Your heritage goes back to Duvier Germany where your great great great gandfather was born. You can find it using international Mapquest. Pretty cool huh!

If you were born in Ottertail or Becker counties you are part of a large German relation starting in Danville Il, then Edna township and then Corlis township.

Are you the grandson of Alvin and Maxine?

I'm doing research for the granddaughter of Clyde W Brasel and Ruby Jane Johnson. They married 24 Dec 1938,Harriman, Roane, Tennessee. They had one daughter.Phyllis Anne Brasel b.08 Sep 1940, Memphis,Shelby,Tennessee. They divorced a couple of years later. Ruby Jane Johnson(daughter of John Calvin Johnson and Matilda Carroll)b 26 Sep 1919,d.02 Jan. 1988.

Clyde W. Brasel is a mystery. Does anyone know who this Clyde W Brasel is? His name wasn't mentioned very often in the Brasel household, at least not fondly. The granddaughter believes he was born in Tennessee. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance.

My grandfather's name was Harold Brussel. My grandmother told me that the family had changed their last name when they came over from Germany to make it sound more American, but she wasn't sure exactly how they spelled the original last name. My father, John Harold Brussel, was born in Rockford, Illinois. I would love to know if we might be from the same Brussel family.

I am the niece of Verny Brasel. I am the youngest daughter of (Clarence) Devoe Brasel. My Dad was the oldest son of the marriage of Granpa James Brasel and Sarah Hefly Brasel. The only one of the children that is left is Elizabeth Ann (Tommie) and she lives in Dallas Texas. I would love to hear from any of Verny's relatives.

I would be happy to see the pictures you speak of; and any more information you might have.
In my line, my great-great grandfather Joseph Steward Brazel had two brothers it could be - a John and a Johnathon. A bit confusing, but it would be great to pursue.

My ancestor Amanda HINDS MEDEARIS had a sister Jenny (Jane Melvina Katharine HINDS b. 8 Feb 1850 Muskogee Indian Terrioty who married JOHN BRASEL, who was an artist & photographer. She lived in Muskogee in 1899. Don't know any more about them but I do have pictures of them and also their son ELTON BRASEL--Would be willing to upload them to any one who wants their pictures.

Another son, Hugh Right, may have been by a second marriage.

I have been researching SSDI records (soc sec death index) and I am not so sure dads real name was actually Kochopolous, I have no idea what name he had on his soc sec card, but all i find is Nick and Sophie. It has records up to 2002 so ask mom what name he used on there.

VIRGINIA - Dollie E. Brasel, 96, of Virginia died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.

She was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Virginia, the daughter of Smith W. and Cora Ellen Walters Brasel. She was preceded in death by two sons, William D. "Dan" and James E. Brasel.

She provided babysitting and housekeeping services for several years and worked at the Virginia Packing Co. for seven years. She was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors: six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Denton of Champaign and Glenna Ausmus of Beardstown; and a niece.

Cremation has been accorded.

Graveside memorial services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Virginia.

Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home of Virginia is in charge of arrangements.

Verny M. Brasel, 43, of 3961 E. Street, Sacramento, a former machinist in the Sacramento City Filtration plant, died yesterday in the Veterans Hospital in San Francisco.
A native of Arkansas, he had lived in Sacramento for 12 years. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Iris Brasel, and three sons, Verne Lee, Tommy and Donald Brasel, all of Sacramento; his father, James Brasel of Oklahoma, and four sisters, Mrs. Will Jones of Tennesee, Mrs. Theodore Reaves of Arkansas, and Mrs. David Burdine amd Mrs. William Beck, both of Oklahoma City.
Services in the Oddfellows Lawn Cemetery.

If you have a chance to read this, Little Roger was killed in an accident in April 2003. He was living in Oklahoma. I don't know anything more about what happened. He was a senior in high school.

If you are Mary Emonds sister you probably already know this. There is a Braselfamilytree posted on "ancestry.Com'. This file has my name but was mostly put together by Glenn Dale Brasel and Lee Thackery who is Bea( Brasels) husband. I believe Betty ( Dalton ) Brasel also had a hand in compiling this data. Betty is the wife of the late Eldon Brasel.She is from Evansville,In. Hope this helps.

I live in Mississippi and I have a 1st cousin named Roger Dale Brasel and was just wondering if there was any relation. He would be about 50-55 years old. I haven't seen or heard from him in 35 years or more. He has a brother named Hank who would probably be in his 40's by now.

i heard, while growing up, that my uncle bert/burt was associated with the boston celtic. i am unsure however of the variant spelling of brasel [actually, you brasels are to be complimented on your tenacity to do genealogy with the 50+ soundex variants]. his wife was harriet backus and they lived in the palisades in northern nj in the 1930's to 1950's. thanks

Hello, I am still looking for my grandson Roger Brasel. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas; Sept. 24 or 25, 1984. (See Previous message Posted aug 2000. ) He is over 18 now and I want very much to see him again. After going blind, I have since had surgery
and my sight has been restored. Although my sight is better, my health is failing, and I have a limited time to find him. Mostly I want to know that he is well and happy. I have not seen him since he was five. He was very ill at the time and on very strong medication. IT is very important to me to know how he is. Can you please help me? There are Braesel's in the Western
Suburbs. My father grew in on the
West Side of Chicago.
I can never find anyone with the Braesel
name in Illinois.

I am trying to find any history on the family of Curtis David Brasel. He was born about 2-23-1936. The place is sketchy, but I think it was either Missouri or Arkansas. He moved to CA, WA, OR, not especially in that order.
