Hi
I am familar with some of the below. My Great Aunt (who is close to 100) was a descendant of the Brassfield slaves in Platte County, MO. Her Great Grandfather was named Thomas Frazier Brassfield and he was brought to the state from KY. He was freed before the end of the war and migrated/settled into LEavenworth, KS. He married a woman from Pennslyvania (white) named Eliza. My great Aunt was raised in WEston, Missouri then St. Joseph Missouri.

Frazier had 8 kids. One of his sons, Frank, married a Birdie Mitchell in Weston Missouri in 1891. There daughter, Irene married a Bell, however both died young. My great aunt was raised with her cousins as sisters in St. Joseph. My little sister is named after "Irene".

I have a lot of the Brassfield information. Just let me know if you want to share information
Thanks for posting
Stacey

The only children that I have for Joshua Elvis Brasfield are from his 2 known marriages. The first (1854 - Madison County, TN) to Amanda M. Oliver produced Margaret Lugenia, Allen, Jane, Colonel, and Joel Lafayette. The second (1874 - Crockett County, TN) to Ann Elizabeth Jones produced Calvin W., Nancy, Elvis R., Lydia, Willie Mae, and Wesley Clarence. I have these on the Brasfield-Brassfield Genealogies web site at www.brasfield.net

Mike Brasfield

Also residing in the home in addition to Wiley (age 21) were siblings Ann (age 28), Virginia (age 21), William (age 19), George (age 17) and James (age 14).

Wiley E. Brasfield / Fannie Barnett Brasfield, MO > CA 1891 Biography

W. E. BRASFIELD.

Wiley E. Brasfield, a son of Leonard Brasfield, was born in Clay County, Missouri, November 19, 1837. He was brought up to farming on the paternal acres and managed to secure such an education as the times offered. It, however, laid the basis for the acquirement of a practical kind of knowledge, which Mr. Brasfield has gained by assiduous reading. He followed farming till 1863, when he pushed across the plains with a mule-team by way of Salt Lake. He stopped over on his journey a few months in Nevada and arrived in Colusa County January 31, 1864. He located on Grand Island and resumed his former calling of a farmer, which he continued up to the year 1882, when he moved to College City in order to afford his children an opportunity to attend the college at that place. Mr. Brasfield was married, at Woodland, October 9, 1865, to Miss Fannie J. Barnett, daughter of Elder G. 0. Barnett. His wife died December 5, 1889, leaving him five children.
In May, 1883, Mr. Brasfield was appointed County Surveyor for an unexpired term, and in 1884, 1886 and 1888 was re-elected to that office. As a public officer he has been accommodating and efficient, as is testified by his long occupancy of office.

Colusa County Biographical Sketches of Pioneers and Prominent Residents
Justice H Rogers, 1891: Orland California
