I am looking for my uncle, about whom I only just found out. He is the son of Irene Marie King, of Oakland, CA and Joseph "Jose" V Brasil, of Providence, RI. He has two siblings, Mark Brasil, my father, and Gayle Brasil. If anyone can give any information we would all be most grateful. We have a estranged family, with a complicated and difficult past of which I am largely unaware. I only wish to make contact to gain a sense of familial history or reconnect family if equally desired.

I am looking for the origins of the name Brasil in Ireland as well as information on my great great grandmother, Ellen Brasil, born about 1838 in Ireland.

Ellen emigrated to the U.S. and settled in New York. She married Richard Nelson who was born in England and had also emigrated to the U.S.

They lived in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York and raised a family there. Their children were Charlotte, George, Charles F., John J. and Jennie.
