My maiden name is also Braun and the family is from Wisconsin. We all pronounce it Brown. My gggrandfather, Johann Braun Jr, came to Wisconsin from Germany either in 1864 or 1866, I believe. Mainly lived in the Lomira/Fond du Lac regions then and mainly in West Bend and surrounding areas now.

It is nice that FamilySearch has much of Hainstadt parish records indexed but I would still like to sometime work more in the actual microfilmed for the earlier records.
Best wishes,
Cathy

Charles Edward Braun & Louisa Mary Braun : England

Calling all you experts.

Charles Edward Braun was born April 1, 1872 and his sister Louisa Mary Braun was born 15 February, 1870 both in Paddington, London. They had sisters Fanny Georgina, Amelia Harriett, Elizabeth Ann, Florence May, and Winifred Daisy and a brother Frederick George, and their parents were Frederick Alexander Braun and Harriett Braun (nee Beaton).

Although I can trace their sisters’ and brother’s spouses and descendants (if any) I can find neither a marriage record nor a death record for either Charles or Louisa.

Louisa Mary Braun appears in 1911 UK census records, sometimes as Brann, living with her sister Winifred Daisy. The latest census in which Charles Edward appears is the one for 1881.

Apart from some school admission records I have hit a brick wall, even trying name derivatives such as Brann, Brawn, and Brown and doing searches with forenames reversed, i.e. Edward Charles and Mary Louisa. I’ve also tried several possible transcription errors all to no avail.

I have their birth certificates but no further clues there. Any ideas what I could try next? Thanks all.

One brother, matthias, came in approx. 1953 and soon died, some children survived but our family lost contact with them. Their descendants could still be in wic.

Hi Kurt! I'm Cindy, second daughter of your Aunt Ethel. I remember you as a little boy. I also remember Pam. Her older brother may still live in Reno, although his Dad was trying to get in touch with him and he could not find him last I had heard. I live up by Lake Tahoe, at Squaw Valley. My younger sister Patti and brother,Craig live in San Diego. My older sister Diana, lives in Las Vegas. My Dad Jim, moved us all out to California in 1960. We were the first of the family to move away from Michigan. My email is cjgoguen@gmail.com. I had a trial membership in Ancestry.com, but did not continue it, yet they forwarded your message to me. I am so glad they did. We can write more if you wish. I turned 61 in September!!! Hope to hear from you. Cousin, Cindy

If August was your grandfather, then we are cousins because he is also my grandfather. Carl is my uncle, my mother's younger brother. My Mom was Ethel, one of the four sisters. She passed away in 2003. I live out in California and send Christmas cards to two of the Aunts each holiday. Helen and Dorothy are still alive as well as Carl and one more brother, whose name is escaping me right now. He had two kids, Rodney and Pam. I also send cards to my cousin Jackie who is the daughter of Bernard who also has passed. e-mail me if this info rings true to you and I will share my phone number.

One of the boys name was Lewis. The lived in the area of Columbia, Missouri. This is from my mother's side of the family.

If you are interested, I can send you a copy. It does have some of the Kock family members on it. A living descendant has been found in Pennsylvania and a bad reception was received when contacted.

My great grandfather was Theodore Braun and my grandmother, Anna is his daughter. I have been having fun trying to find out info on the Brauns of PA. There was also a sister, Susanne Braun Koch who lived in Camden, NJ. I do have an original picture of the Braun home in Luxembourg and had the luck to visit and find it. I knocked on the door with a photocopy in hand and met the most delightful owner of the house in Lintgen. She let me go through the house.

Carl Braun would be the brother to my great-great grandfather (Herman Braun). I have a lot of information on Carl Braun - Death Certificate, Obit 1936, naturalization records and also an article from the Duluth Herald about when he died which was a result of the 103 heat wave that was in the area at the time and a few people died. The obit says survivors were his three daughters Mrs. Wm Bennewise, Mrs. Seely Palmer and Mrs. John Benson, three sons Paul, Edward and Barthold. If this is the same Carl Braun, his parents were John Braun and Fredricka Schivelbein. If I can help further, please email me at triciashannon@comcast.net.

I have a Geneva - Geneofa Braun married to Florian Moser. I believe they are my ggrandparents. Trying to prove by documentation. Lived in Kensington also.
I have also traced back a Christianna Braun in the 1850 Census Northern Liberties Section of Philadelphia. She is listed as Christianna New (widow of James New?). In the same Census she has a Leopold Shoemaker living with her. By the 1860 Census she and Leopold are married and have a Henry Brown living with them. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I know these Brauns, Shoemakers also are related to Laumeisters.

I am looking for information on Samuel K Braun and his wife Eva Woodruff.
Samuel was born in Drieten, Bohemia, Austria in 1855 and died at the Nugent home for Baptists in 1932. His passport indicated that his father was Marcus Sharp from Austria. Articles I've read have indicated that Samuel was the son of a rabbi who became a Baptist minister. I want to find a birth certificate for Samuel.
I would like to find out when Eva Woodruff died and where she was buried. I have photos of Samuel, but none of Eva or their 6 children. From 1875-1910 Samuel and Eva lived in NJ (Bridgeton, Atlantic City, and Camden).

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Valerie Braun Soemadi
soemadi1219@msn.com
