Re: familia del general Nicolas Bravo

I have Bravo roots in the mid 1800's. My ancestor, Ramon Farias Trevino married "a Bravo", but I'm not sure of the first name. According to our family records, Ramon Farias Trevino was either a son or a nephew of Valentin Gomez Farias. Valentin Gomez Farias, from what I gather, was acquainted with Nicolas Bravo (they both held various high government positions in Mexico). Ramon Farias Bravo, the son of Ramon Farias Trevino was married to the granddaughter of another politically active man of the same period, Jose Maria Izazaga. I just had a hunch that there may have been intermarriage into the family of Nicolas Bravo, but can't make any solid connections. Any leads would be highly appreciated. :)

Mi trabajo de genealogia esta dirigido solo a mis Bravo, pero tengo a un pariente de nombre German Bravo Hau, que es hijo de un primo de mi madre con una señora de apellido Hau. No tengo ninguno otro.

Saludos,
Carmen

Dear Dr. Bravo,
This message interested me as well, however I am very interested in you....the story I am trying to research begins with my great grandfather Frank Rose Bravo immigrating to the U.S with (1) of, I think, (4) brothers from the Azores. The other brothers immigrated to Brazil. This occured about 1880. In your research on the Bravo surname have you found any possible connections? I appreciate your interest!
Lani Rose

Hi,

I found the following on the emigration DVD EMIBAS, there were only two with the last name of Bravo. You did mention that your grandfather was John W Bravo and the year 1901. One of the two men found on the DVD emigrated 1901, but he wasn't born then.

Johan Wilhelm Bravo, b. 21 MAY 1881 in Värsås, Skaraborgs län, Västergötland. Emigrated 22 MAR 1901 from Degerfors, Grovplåtverket, Degerfors, Örebro län, Värmland to the US.

Is that your J W Bravo?

I am not related to this family but I don't mind having a look for more information, just let me know.
Anna

I am a direct descendent of Nicholas Bravo from Alameda Salamancs Espana. I do not know if he is of your same family. He was born about 1700, and he married Isabel Hernandez. His son was Pedro Bravo who married Manuela Dominguez. Pedro was born about 1734. Manuela in 1759. Their son was Cristobal Bravo. This Bravo started out in Alemeda Spain, with Cristobal being stationed at a Fort in Cuba, then being sent to the St. Augustine Florida fort. I would appreciate any help you can give. I do not speak Spanish and it is hard to do any research in Spain. Gracias! :))

Bravo-Paz connection in Tlazazalca

I am looking for anyone that might have family history of the Bravo -Paz family in Tlazazalca, Mexico. My 2nd grandfather's grandmother was Tomasa Bravo. She married my gr gr grandfather, Jose Maria Paz. I think her father was Don Rafael Bravo also of Tlazazalca b.abt 1800-1855. His father was Don Francisco Bravo. I think he was married to a Maria Navarrete. This would have been some time in the mid 1700's. Though they lived in Mexico, the documentation shows them as being Spaniards;Any one with hisory, please post on this site. Thank you, Joyce Santiago-Maloy

We understand they were Yaquis indian from the pueblo mountain area. Concepcion Francisca Bravo had two perhaps three known brothers; Stephano and Rolo and Isadoro. We believe that Rolo never married and had land in Baja. She had a sister Rita Bravo, which was probably Margarita. We believe that Don Antonio married , we think, Margarita Martinez. Francisca was married to Faustino, which was listed on the census as Portigiso.. I don't know why. Faustino has known family members: Carmen, Mary, Jesus, Trinidad, Trinidad and Faustino lived side by side in Antioch. Their father was Refiesujillo; they called him Refugio and he was married to Tomocita Tafolla. His father was jESUS VASQUEZ.
We have one known family member in Mexico with the last name of Bravo y Yepez. Any information about them would be wonderful.
