I am a Bridgett family descendant, and I have been working off and on for years on this family history. I have concentrated primarily on the Maryland and Wash D.C. lines, but I do have some information on the Virginia/North Carolina lines which seem to have migrated to Ohio and Indiana from 1810 on. I do not have complete information !! But if you have any firsthand research that we may consult together on perhaps we can make progress. I have done no work on Canadian or later Irish immigrants but have focused only on the United States. Thank you.

Looking for info for John Bridget, his wife was Sarah Phillips. I would like to know John's parents names, and any other info. I think that he may have been born around 1827 in Indiana. I believe that he died and then his wife remarried.

His wife is in Sloan, IA and one daughter in Bronson,IA.
Several of his kids are in Sioux City, IA but I can not find him.
Would also like to find Obit for him.

Hello, Tom. Yes, I have some info on Captain Bridget. He was a naval aviator, and staff operations officer for Patrol Wing TEN in the Philippines in 1941-2. I'm looking for a good photo of him for publication in my book on PW10. I can tell you he surrendered with Corrigidor, 9 May 1942, how he died and some of his service past, as well as details of his work in the PI. Lou

I have gone back to Thomas Bridget and Mary Catherine (Haun) Bridget (early 1800's). I'm looking to extend back further from Thomas Bridget.

Here is the info I have on him-
He was born in Lock Haven, PA
Father: Thomas Bridget
Mother: Ruth Bridget
He was also married to Roselle Timgley and Etta Cheesmen
He had 6 children: Thomas (Bud), Norman, Lena Catherine, George (who I've traced to me already), William and Ross.
Mary Catherine Haun (his wife) was born in 1832
This is all the info I have and the farthest I've been able to trace back

ANY info on the Bridget (or Bridgett) family would be useful.

He was an Naval Avitator and was on Bataan when captured.

Killed 12-15-44 when a Japanese prison ship in which
he was embarked was sunk off Olongapo, Philippine Islands

Children:

Alden (born abt 1902) belive he died Jun of 1954
Margarie (born abt 1904)

Found them on the 1920 Census of Utica Ward 9, Oneida, New York. Believe found Alden on the SS! . He did Jun 1954.

There is a Cora B. Bridget listed in the 1880 Census for Scott, Putnam, WV. She is listed as age 5. Head of household is I.E. Spence (female). Her occupation is listed as servant (not sure that's correct) given her age and her birthplace is listed as WV.

My paternal grandmother's name was Lucy Izora Bridget McCandles Mercer. I have nothing that lists the names of her parents, but our family bible says her grandparents were Cora Bell Bridget and Sam McCandles. I'm wondering if this Cora B. Bridget is indeed Cora Bell Bridget.

Does anyone have any information on her? Parents names, date of birth, if she was indeed married to Sam McCandles, etc.

Lewis R Bridget was my Grandfather, I know he was born in Litersford,IN. His parents were William Bridget and Mary Jane Vise(maiden)Bridget(married)Lucus(married). They were divorced in 1907 in IN. William also went by the name of Jim, Jacob, Red. Unable to locate any information about him. Mary Jane married a man named John S. Lucus in Marion County, IN, in 1907, I have that record, but they seem to have disappeared after that. It was reported that Mary Jane had other children, Harriet, and a John Jr. but I cannot find any records. I have been told that she, Mary Jane died in approx 1910 to 1912. Have checked the census and nothing, Would appreciate any help from anyone. Thank you.

Wendy: I can probably help you with the Folker Township, Clark Co., MO Bridgets. My maiden name is Sisson, and the Sissons and your Bridgets are related. Here are the Bridgets who are buried in Conkle Cemetery in Folker Township:

Wm. Bridget: d. 4 May 1896, aged 71y, 5m, 14d
Sarah Bridget: wife of W. M., 26 July 1830 - 9 April 1892
Samuell Bridget: 19 Oct. 1870 - 19 Nov. 1915
George T. Bridget: 1849 - 1928
Sophia M. (Sisson) Bridget: 1856 - 1931
also
Bell, Amy R.: dau. of Wm. & S. Bridget, d. 17 Oct. 1869, aged 10 y, 9m, 7d (This seems to have an error, how could she have been their dau, and died at the early age of 10, and had the last name of Bell.)

George Bridget was my Dad's "Uncle George," and George and Sarah lived right down the road from the Sissons.

I sometimes visit the Conkle cemetery, since my Sissons are buried there. If this email gets through to you let me know and I will write more. My personal email will receive but won't send.

I've checked the 1881 Census and there are 3 male & 4 female Bridgets on the Lowlands cd and 3 male & 4 female on the Highlands cd.
