Bridgett Family

I am a Bridgett family descendant, and I have been working off and on for years on this family history. I have concentrated primarily on the Maryland and Wash D.C. lines, but I do have some information on the Virginia/North Carolina lines which seem to have migrated to Ohio and Indiana from 1810 on. I do not have complete information !! But if you have any firsthand research that we may consult together on perhaps we can make progress. I have done no work on Canadian or later Irish immigrants but have focused only on the United States. Thank you.

Hi Tracey,
I don't know if I can be of any help but I do have some Bridget information. I have James BRIDGET(T) (1809-1888) married Ann McCauley (1810-1904) both were born in County Down, Ireland. They came to America 1854. They had 9 children total the eldest child Jane stayed in Ireland. One daughter died on the way to America she was a baby Sarah Ann. The other 7 were as follows Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Margaret, Joseph, James and Mary Ellen. They settled in Mercer County, PA not far from the OH state line. If I can help with anything let me know. I do have a family history that was written by their granddaughter.
Carol

Do you have the spouse of Mary Ellen listed anywhere?

I am tracing either Mary or Cora Bell Bridgett to a Sam McCandless (McCandlish). These would be my great grandparents, but I've seen various listings of the names of my paternal grandmother Lucy Isora (we think McCandless). Lucy was married to Jesse Franklin Mercer Sr.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jessie F. (Mercer) Hott

I am longing for any one that might know of a Joseph Will Bridgett from either Alabama or Georgia. He was full blood Cherokee and his wife, name not know by our family, was full blood Creek. They had a son Joseph Surveters (Bridgett) who changed the name to Bridges and later ended up in Grayson Co., Texas where my materal grandmother, Elvira Bell Bridges was born. Her mother was Beatrice Bell McCain. I would live to find out as much information as I can. My grandmother was born in 1860, but I don't know the years for the others.
