Payette Independent
Payette, Idaho
April 9, 1896

The neighbors of “Nick” Brodersen, for miles around, are ready to testify that he had a loud time at his erst while quiet home last Monday night. The fellows who participated in the shiveree evidently went prepared to make the occasion extremely interesting for the newly married couple, but a few choice selections of music that would have frightened a saw-horse brought “Nick” to terms, a truce was satisfactorily arranged, and the party returned to town and had a merry time at “Nick’s” expense.
while in my search for my dutch relative theunis pieterez(petersen) who changed his name to sardam, descendents used that name and the names of surdam, suydam, etc.
he came to america in the mid 1600`s or was the 1st gereration born here in the US(we haven`t found the connection yet), i came across some interesting info that there might be some connection to the name brodersen?
i am not sure how, yet?
so i checked ths messageboard and found your entry. although it is dated from the year 2000, i thought that i would still try to find out if you might know of some connection between the brodersen and the pietersen(petersen) names since you mentioned petersen in your post on this board?
i would love to find some sort of connection here to your brodersen`s relative?
i am trying to find our family of origin to the united states from the eurpoean countries?
any help would be greatly appreciated. t
hank-you sincerely,
teri taylor

As I know is the name BrodersOn the swedish name , BrodersEn is the danish. Many names ending with "....sen" in Danmark and Germany got a similar firstname like "Peter Petersen", "Lauritz Lauritsen" (formerly a German Minister at the time of Konrad Adenauer, german Chancelor from 1949 to 1963)or "Broder Brodersen". The meaning of ....sen is the son of...! Broder is, how you explained, the brother, so Brodersen means the "son of the brother", "Petersen" means "the son of Peter" and so on.
I hope, what i wrote is correct, perhaps there is anyone who knows better. Let me know.

Bye Bye.......
