Hi
Searched the earliest passenger lists I could find, no trace of a James Bromley In earlier days British subjects wishing to travel abroad had to get permission from High officials in government (Co-signed )by the King . I am not saying it happened in this case I believe Canada was very sparsely populated in earlier days and immigrants were given help with passage fares, etc: We have to remember too that there was that exodus of "Home Children " to Canada Maybe you may get onfo from his death cert:(As to where in England he came from.) Is there a Newfoundland Family history site you could ask for help from Regards Bob Bromley

Bob, thank you for your reply. I don't have anything else on him other than his birth around 1811 and death in 1877 in Twillingate, New Foundland. I believe he might have been a carpenter and may have arrived in Twillingate around mid to early 1830's. I don't have any other records for him. I really appreciate any help that you may be able to do for this line. It has been very tantalizing trying to see where he is from.

Bruce Bromley
bruceandlonni@gmail.com
Hi Not a lot to go on here , if you know he died in1877 ,what does his death certificate say i.e. his fathers name etc: We here in UK can only look-up(Online) from 1836 when registration started oficially. If we have some clues as to where a person lived ,or came from ,we can go to the "Parish-or Church records") for answers. I will try to help you as I am a Bromley from the Northeastern county of County Durham in England I will try the early years of Imigration lists to see what there is. Please reply regards Bob Bromley

HI
Sorry this person is not my ancestor I am researching Bromley,s from Northern England But I have one George Brumley ( A local Version Of Bromley) who left England in 1893,who( it is thought )was bound for Canada. His wife +family returned to England in April of 1894 without George, she later remarried in 1894 saying on her marriage certificate that she was a " Widow". George would have been aged 34 in 1894 Despite a few years of research, I have not been able to find a definite death notice for George
I have checked the passenger lists for 1893 and it shows the Bromley family sailing on " THe British Princess" to Philadelphia I have notices on both Canadian + Philadelphian notice boards asking for any info: but as yet --no reply If you are ever researching any Bromley this side of pond ,feel free to contact me
I am not a relative. This is just a note to let you know I may have attended grade school with your father Pern Bromley. It is an unusual name in my experience so I recall Pern as being a little older and taller than I was as a school boy at Public School No. 4 in Olean NY. As I recall he was there for a short time in about the sixth grade in about 1945.
I sometimes wonder what he went on to become. Now I know he might have been your father.
JOHN Penoyer

Hi My E-Mail address (bbromley@homecall.co.uk) I have researched your Gustave Bromley,s details
This is what I found :- address, 44 Cotton Street.
Harbergham Eaves
Burnley Lancashire UK
Head /Mr J Bromley 43 years(Estimated birth 1834)
wife Ada Bromley
(Albert? Edwin) B. birth 1872 Albert could be a transcription error. Albert sounds like Herbert. In England they would shorten their names to "Bert".

bithplace Burnley (Lancs)

Ada Burton born 1872 birthplace Oldham LancashireUK.

They must have emigrated just prior to 1899, if Gustave was born 1899 I must say that I did not check this fact I copied this as it was .
To go further back from Edwins father ,Mother etc: will be difficult for me as regisration only started in England in 1836 You can go back to parish /church records . A lot being put on family history sites . Try message boards for Lancashire /Burnley +district family history sites ,there may be members who may do"Look-Ups for you
Regards Bob Bromley

Have you tried looking at US 1900census , to see if there is any clues there? ( Re parents names ) Immigration lists will surely give some clue to where they came from.
if you can find anything , I may be able to follw up from there.
I have been unable to find any information on my great grandfather Theodore Gustau (Gustav) Bromley. He was a chauffeur, worked for many years for a family living in Palm Beach in winter and New Hampshire in summer.
1930 Census shows Theodore G Bromley living with his wife Leola Octavia Lusby (1902 -1985) in Dallas, Texas
Census states he was born in NJ in 1899, parents were from England.
Leola & Theodore had 2 children. Ella Carolyn and William.

Daniel H. Bromley of vermont

I'm looking for information about his ancestry and immediate family to fill in my own ancestry tree. b. jan 1, 1841; d. Mar 8, 1897; wife - Harriet R. Thomson 1822-1892.
From grave marker in Pawlet, VT, I think. He is my great-great-grandfather on my paternal grandmother's side.
Their daughter Lucy Helen married Rev. John Pushee Demeritt on dec 10, 1872. I would have said it was Pawlet but I just saw a marriage list from Pawlet online here that did not have this marriage listed. My next guess would be Dorset, VT. I will do some more research about that guess soon.

--------------------------------------------------
In the meantime, I have five pocket diaries by Daniel written in shaky handed pencil. I expect these may be of interest to current-day Bromleys. I also have several photos of Bromley grave markers taken by my father, presumably in the same graveyard as Daniel's marker. It is not clear which of them are related to Daniel, but I suspect that several are of some relation, since it is a small town.

Pearl Bromley was my grandmother. It was said that she had native american blood. I don't know where she was born but she was raised in New London Ct as a foster child with her sister Doris Bromley. On the Census it lists origins as Unknown. On Doris's papers it lists her parents as John Bromley and mother as Trumbull. My grandmother always said her fathers name was Harold Bromley and her mother was Dorothy Tremley. I have no documentation listing her parents.

I have been looking for awhile but have not been able to find anything. Any information would be wonderful. You can email me at pearlland@aol.com directly if you know anything that might help. Thanks

JOSEPH BROMLEY of Iowa - Civil War Veteran

I am looking for someone who can tell me more about a Civil War Veteran who was named Joseph Bromley. What I know of him to date, based on what little I have seen of his military records and his 1880 census record, is the following:

JOSEPH BROMLEY - B. Abt. 1834 in New York D. Sometime after 1880 presumably in Wheeler, Lyon County, Iowa (where he was living in 1880). He served during the Civil War in the 16th Regiment of the Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted in January of 1862 and mustered out on July 19, 1865, in Louisville, KY.

He was promoted twice during his service during the Civil War, first promoted to Eighth Corporal in July 1864, and later promoted to Fifth Sergeant on Jan. 11, 1865.

I can find no record of him on the 1860 census of Iowa despite the fact that his military enlistment record indicates that he resided in "Swede Point" Iowa when he enlisted. Swede Point was later re-named Madrid, Iowa, and it is located in Boone County in Iowa.

I have also been unable to find him on the 1870 census of the State of Iowa (4 1/2 years after he left the Army). But he was recorded on the 1880 census of Wheeler, Lyon County, Iowa, with a wife named MARY and a son named CHARLES. His wife was recorded on the 1880 census as being 28 years old at that time and her P.O.B. was listed as Iowa. Their son, Charles, was listed as 2 years old at that time and his P.O.B. was also listed as Iowa. Joseph was listed on this 1880 census as "BROMLEY, Joseph" age 46, married farmer, white male, born in New York, father born in Massachussetts, mother born in Vermont.

His wife was later remarried to a man named Isaac A. Tillery and they were recorded as residents of Beadle County, South Dakota, on the 1900 census and young Charles, son of Joseph, was living in that home with Isaac Tillery and his wife MARY.

I am looking specifically for information on Joseph's wife, Mary, and I am wanting to know what her maiden name was when she was married to Joseph Bromley. And when and where they were married. I'd also be interested to know who Joseph's parents were if possible. Thank you.

P.S. Their son, Charles, was apparently named Charles James Bromley. He was born in October of 1877, in Iowa, and he went by JAMES in later census records (1910). He was listed on the 1910 census of Jackson Precinct, Fall River County, South Dakota, page 65, as "BROMLEY, JAMES C." age 32, born in Iowa, father born in New York, mother born in Iowa. He also had a wife who was recorded on the 1910 census as "BROMLEY, MARY E." age 28, born in Illinois, father born in Germany, mother born in Pennsylvania, and they had four children: Andrew W Bromley, age 9, b. in S.D., Elmer C. Bromley, age 7, b. in S.D., Mary A. Bromley, age 5, b. in S.D., and Violia R. Bromley, age 3, b. in S.D.

Hi David, I am researching my husband's family. His ancestor, Andrew Jackson Shipe married Jane Bromley of Fredericksburg, VA, born about 1828. In looking at the 1860 census, I see that she and "Jackson" Shipe lived near two other Bromleys, (I believe the census taker spelled it wrong - it says Bromly) who were probably her brothers. The oldest was John, born in 1822, and the youngest is Samuel, born in about 1826. I have seen some family trees out there but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information. Can you please help me?

Mr. Biggers, My name is David Bromely of Lottsburg, VA. I have my Bromley line back to the 1600's in Lancaster County. I have been to this grave site you have noted in your files. My question is where did you get your information. As of today 05.02.2010 there are only a few grave markers. Could you give me some more information?

Looking for Sebron Bromley's parents

My fourth great grandfather was Sebron Bromley and was born around 1801 in Chautagua, New York. I know from a census done in PA that his parents were born in Connetticut, but I do not know who they were. I have not been able to locate census records from that part of New York at the turn of the century.

So I would like to know if that Rarama is a lastname given to your mom.

Please let me know anyway. Thanks.

Sincerely,

Marvin Rarama
