The family I am interested in used all the above spellings, but Bromsgrove was the most frequent.
I am descended from Bromsgroves who were living in Taunton, Somerset at the tail end of the eighteenth century and throughout the nineteenth. They were mostly butchers and innkeepers, but there was also a showman/circus connection.
A generation of almost all daughters meant that the name had almost entirely disappeared from the locality by 1900.
Daughter's married names were:
Gill (Marylebone, London), Maby (Bristol), Sheldon and Shore (Birmingham), Canter (Plymouth) and Culverwell (Taunton).
I would like to hear from anyone with any information or connection.
