Hi,
I am the original "Dougal".
I have been really ill & could not believe that I had a response at last.
The original Bromyard's were from Stourbridge(we think)
I have sorted most of the tree but there were obviously some skeletons on the closet, as always.
If you could pass this on, I would be very grateful.
I am specifically looking for Annie Elizabeth but if there are any old stories or the old family bible(I know we had it in Birmingham, when I was a child)
What we really need are the "old folks" with the memories but I think we are too late for that.
Please do not feel obliged if it is not possible.
Thankyou and take care
Dougal

My maiden name is Bromyard. I live in Pennsylvania and I'm a descendent of George Bromyard, born around 1855 in Staffordshire. All I know of George in England is that his mother's name was Martha. I don't know if she was a Bromyard or married a Bromyard but my search for a potential father led me also to Ralph or John Bromyard's descendents. Martha eventually married a William Meredith. All three came to America, via Canada I am told, and they came to Pennsylvania because of the coal mining. George died in a terrible mine explosion in 1891. You can read about it online (Mammoth Mine Disaster). George married a Sarah Gorton, born in England. She came to America in 1881. I have no record of when or where they married. George and Sarah had only two children, only one with descendents, all in Pennsylvania, I believe.

My husband's surname is Bromyard. His family originate from Ilkeston, Derbyshire. I have recently started trying to trace their origins so would like to hear more from anyone with details of the surname Bromyard. I believe that one of his family emigrated to Canada in the 1800s and some descendants are living in Pennsylvania.

Sorry to be so long in replying, I have only just got a new computer. I think your Bromyards are related to Ralph Bromyard of Stourbridge. If you would like more information, please get in touch via my email address.
