Hi,

I did not find any additional info, but I haven't been looking lately either. It's been a very busy couple of years. That is fascinating that you were able to find out more about Madelaine and Nicholas. If you have document, like that justice of the peace recors, that you could send via e-mail, I'd appreciate it. I know my Uncle would love to see it. Thanks for sending me a message.

Hi, did you ever find more Brossette info? We did. I had 4 more people contact me who were descendents and one found a justice of the peace record for Madelaine Antoine Brossette, widow of Nicholas, marrying a Lous Dozieres in Feb of 1862 in NO. Explains where Nicholas got to and why they disappeared. The strange thing is that she moved with him to NY and left her kids in New Orleans. Census records were weird here as to number of kids. Her death record was a good one, verifying a number a facts. :-)

There are some Brozette's in West Indies in mid-1700's, too. Most were planters on the Islands, and I find many likely connections to planters in Southern states. Major James Brozette's wife was Cornelia Sherman buried at Christ Church, as was her sister Mary Crisp, d/o of Samuel Sherman Esq. Mary died age 38 in 1730.

I am your second cousin.
I was born in 1971 so I don't think I ever knew you,but I know of you :) I am Hardy's older sister Victoria's grandaughter. My father Reggie Adams was your first cousin. He passed away in 1988. He and uncle Bud (Hardy) are buried at the same place.
I have done alot of research on the Brosset side and need to go to Cloutierville in Natchitoches and do some digging in church records as well as the geneology department there.
If you would like to see the tree that I have been working on you are more than welcome. I currently have it set to private but will let you in if you like.
If you have any questions please ask. My direct e-mail is meljon4ever@yahoo.com.
I hope to hear from you again :)

Yes. I am interested in this family. Adel Brossette (b. 1895 in New Orleans) married my great grandfather (Frank Cuadrado). From Ancestry.com, I think that I can trace to an N. Brossette, a baker born in Paris around 1820. Can you help with this connection.
His son, Jean Louis, married a Theodosie Brown. Is that correct?

Regards,

I did have the 1860 census which is the ONLY mention of them that I have found. As far as I have been able to determine, the natichotoches Brossettes are not related to us unless they all came from Paris, France as I have been able to track them back them with birth certs and a marriage cert. I would love to find out what happened to them. Thanks!

In the 1860 US Federal census there is an entry in New Orleans Ward 6, of Ernest Lavasseur age 28, watchmaker, N. Brossette 40, Baker, Madeleine Brossette 40, Louis Brossette 15 Baker, Phil Brossette 12, Anna Brossette 10, and Nicholas Brossette 6 All the places of birth is France except for Phil is Prussia and Nicholas is Missouri.

I also have Brosset ancesters. The courthouse at Natchitoches has a lot of information, as does the genealogy society in Natchitoches. You just have to go and read and read. Also, the parish lines changed, so some of the history is in other parishes, althought you ancester may not have moved.

Did you ever find any trail of Anne of the Caddo? We are trying to research her line also. I have a Grillet family group sheet from a file in a museum in Coushatta (I believe) that has the mother of Marie (Jeanne) Lousie Brevel as Anne (Caddo Indian). Marie (Jeanne)'s place and date of birth is October 20, 1738 in Caddo Indian nation. Her baptism is June 19, 1739 Poste des Natchitoches LA. Maybe there is more about her mother Anne in the baptismal record?

Hi, I am tracing the Brossettes that emigrated in 1856-58 from Paris France. I find the family in NO, LA in the 1860 census. John Louis, his sister Ann and brother Phillip, who moved to MS, I can trace, and also a possible connection in the 1930 census for a Nicholas Brossette, another brother. I can't find any other references to the parents other than this 1860 census. Another cousin of mine wrote to Paris and was able to get a birth certificate for Nicolas Brossette and also his marriage license to Madeleine Antoine but that's all I have. Are you connected to these Brossettes? Thanks! Jusy

Kathy,

Try posting your question on the Natchitoches Parish message board. Most Brossett's on Louisiana originated from there. Someone on there may know something more. I have the name of a Hardy Brosset, but he would have been born close to 1910, but he maybe was the father of Joseph Hardy, but don't hold me to that. Names are just so often passed down that it's possible. Like I said, post on that board, there are a lot of people on there that may be able to help you. Most everyone that's from that area is distantly related somehow.

Good luck!
Brittaney Kerry

My great grandfather was Edouard (Edward) Brossett from around Natch. and had a brother Cesare (spelling?). Some time around 1900 he had to "leave town after trouble at a dance." He was married to Nancy Casey Brossett and they had a son Arthur. After Edouard left town, Nancy married John J Burke of Winnfield. Arthur changed his name to Burks (hence my last name). Any information on this part of the family would be greatly appreciated.

In the back and forth notes on the Brossettes, someone mentioned a museum in Cloutierville, La. What about this? Is there a museum that has info. on Brossettes? My wifes's grandmother was Rose Valentine Brosset. Rose's line included Tranquillin, Cesaire Ablain, Pierre Ceesaire, Pierre, and Jean, going back to the village of Fontcouverte in France. There are tombstones in Summer Grove Cemetery in Shreveport for Ablin J. Brossette and his wife Arlee P. Brossette, for Dennis J. Brossett, James, Felix F. and Maggie E. Brossett. If anyone is interested I will be glad to send them the birth and death dates on those tombstones. There are tombstones in the Stonewall Cemetery on Josephine Valentine Brossette Tillman and Artemese Vascoe Brosset.(St. Ann's Catholic Ch.
