Hi KawiKatie... Just looking through some early R.C. church records in N.B. and found the baptism for MARGARET BROTHERS born April 22, 180? Parents: PETER BROTHERS & CHARLOTTE BROTHERS The baptism was performed by Phllip Lariscy on March 19, 1821.
This led to R. I. death records for Margarette Alexander Tripp wife of Silas G.Tripp hope this helps!

Elizabeth Brotherson and children alive in 1834

My relative Thomas Fraser was born near Inverness Scotland some time around 1785, lived in Demerara / British Guiana and died in 1835 as a merchant in Liverpool, England. In his will made in 1834 he made provision for his 4 children by Elizabeth Brotherson, namely William, Thomas, Eliza and Mary. The terms of the will suggest that the children were still under 21 in 1834. There is no clue as to where they were born or where they lived in 1834. Any possible links welcome!

My g-g-grandfather, Samuel Brother(son) (most likely Brodersen or Brudersen) from Copenhagen (born 1825) father's name, Peter (we think). As a young man, he joined Capt. Browne (an English Sea Captain) and ended up in Polynesia. Samuel shortened his name to Brothers and married Capt. Browne's daughter, Mary Browne (of Bora Bora). Samuel Brothers and Mary Browne settled on Raiatea and raised 9 children.

Does any of this match with your research?

Robin Stamps

Hi Jeff,
how is your research going?
Have you considered the possibility that the spelling of Brotherson may have been corrupted over the years?
The name Brotherston seems to be more common. In my ancestors I have come across their surname spelled as
Brotherston, Brotherstone and Brotherstones in the LDS IGI.
These people came from the Edinburgh area in Scotland.
Why don't you try the Scotland (Midlothian) notice board?
Maybe a 'helper' on there has knowledge of a connection between the names.
Good Luck,
TOM
