It's been a long time since I have checked in here. So, if you are still there, I have old obits for an Augusta Mary Brunswick b.11/11/1875 d.5/14/1944. She was sister to Lena. She was married to Calvin Davidson. The obit has Chas. Schroeder listed as a pallbearer. Wonder how they are connected. There is more info on the obit if you are interested.

I am also researching the Brunswick family. There was a Louisa Holzer who was married to "Chris" Brunswick
and they settled in Arapahoe, Furnas County, Nebraska.
I am researching Fritz Brunswick(or Brunswig) who was married to Dora Holzer and it is possible and probable
that Louisa and Dora were sisters. They all immigrated
from Germany in 1866, but I have not found parent's names yet.
Hope this helps you a little,
Paulina

hi Lisa,
I am very interested in photos you have of August. I have several pictures of Cynthia and children , and one of August would like to compare. I was told August came here with friends of the family.I was told he was 104 yrs old when he died. Have not been able to find out the family's name. I would also love to have a copy of the wedding certificate. I have some information on the family. I am going to the Savannah Cemetery in Shenango Township, New Castle, Pa Their daughter Dora Mitcheltree (MY Grandmother) and also son (Uncle Dutch) Clarence I think his real name was. When I come back I will let you know what I found out. I have reason to think August and Cynthia may also be buried there.Perhaps others. Tried to email you at webtv and got a return if you would let me know your email I will forward pictures.

Hi Gwynneth,
My ancestor Christian Brunsvik came from Denmark in 1798 to South Shields. He changed his name to Brunswick. I found two other famillies of the name in England who came from Germany around this time,
Unfortunately we do not appear to have a Sarah in our tree. I seem to remember finding a Thomas Brunswick around 1839 (death?birth ? ) in Durham.
Brian

Yes.. they came from Germany, though I'm not sure of the area. My Grandfather(John), his brother(Martin) and father(Richard), arrived in 1907. From what I understand.. they arrived in Philadelphia to stay with friends, then moved on to San Francisco. After a time..they saved money to send for the remaining family members.. at least 2 sisters(Vasleska and Marta) and his mother (Ida). John put himself through college..first graduating from USC, then Garrett Seminary. He served as a Methodist minister in Northern California for more than 40 years.. the last 20 years or so he lived in the Sacramento area. He passed away at 79 in 1969. His brother Martin worked various jobs in the Modesto area... and eventually became a minister himself. Marta..or Martha (my Dad's Aunt) married Albert Rauber.. and lived in Milbrae. I know I have Brunswick relatives in the Modesto area of California, but I'd enjoy finding more in other locations.. and learning more of the early Brunswicks.

Hi, I have been reading a lot of history or chronicles of areas of Bunswick or a different spelling. Because it pertains to my Luneburg area. I suggest you also go to google a d search so you can get translation and try Dahlenburg, Lunenburg and Celle, And Bergen and Uelzen. I remember reading abut one arranged marriage to the duke. I know you will get tons of ideas for spin offs. Plus it gives sources for much of their research. Much to read.
Meyer

Her father (Hermann Friedrich Heinrich Brunswick b. 1862) and mother (Henriette Wilhelmine Caroline Meier (changed to Meyer)b. 1861) came from Lubbecke, Westphalen, Preussen. They came to Cincinnati, Ohio about 1882 and settled in a large community of vegetable gardeners called "Wooden Shoe Hollow". My grandmother said her father was the son of a Nobleman and her mother was considered a peasant in the old country.
Brunswick.. was it Braunschweig?

Hi, I just found this site. I've always been fascinated about this side of my family. I'm in the Sacramento, California area. My grandfather was John Brunswick.. born in Germany April 29th, 1890. He came over with his father Richard, and brother Martin, in 1907. They later sent for his mother and sisters.. and settled in San Francisco. The name was "Americanized" when they came over.. and I'm still trying to determine the spelling of the original names. His parents were Richard and Ida.. though those names may have been given on their arrival. John passed away in 1969, just short of his 80th birthday, in Sacramento. His brother Martin lived in Modesto and from what I gather, passed away in 1992. They had a sister, my Aunt Martha.. and another I never knew.. Valeska(not sure of the spelling). I hope this info helps someone.. and I'd appreciate anything you can pass along to me.
