Bryn, Caroline (Lena) Hammer- Mother of Frank,Helmer,Oscar and Charles

I am seeking information about Caroline (Lena) Hammer Bryn. She married Julius Bryn sometime in the middle 1870's. I think they were married in San Francisco. Julius is listed as a tugboat captain in the SF directories. The had four sons: Frank,Helmer Oscar and Charles. Julius died in 1890 and Lena married Peter Andersen a year after Julius died. They had one daughter, Flora. Oscar became a well know commercial artist and worked for Santa Fe Rail system creating posters of the west. He died in 1967 in Sebastapol, CA.. Lena was my grandfather's sister. His name was George Alfred (Fred) Hammer

Hi Bette, This is so unbelievable!! My dad is Peter, and my mom is Patty, I told her about your message this morning and she knew exactly who you were!!I haven't spoken to my dad yet, but I know my mom will let him know, he thinks i'm funny with all this family research that I have been doing! My grandparents live about 45 minutes north of Orlando, I'll have to let them know that your son is living in FLA. I went down to visit them last winter with my son. I have been married 5 years this sunday and we have a 4 year old son named Bryan (kinda close to the BRYN name??!!) You certainly haven't bored me at all!! I'm glad we discovered eachother!! How is it in NH right now, still have snow on the ground? I am living in Pembroke, Ma, (the south shore) and I am still adjusting. I would love it if you could get a copy of pictures, noone i have spoken with seems to have any, or remember where they are. I spoke with your aunt Betty, your dads sister, and she was going to get some pictures for me, but she ended up in the hospital, and I haven't heard from her. I think I will call her tonite actually. I wish I knew how to get you my email, without posting this to the whole public, then we wouldn't have to go through this forum. Are you doing family research, I have some info on your grandmother, her siblings and her parents on a 1900 Census from Oslo. keep in touch, and I will certainly tell my dad that you said hello!!

Love, kate

Hi Kate,
Wow, it is a small world. Let's see, your grandmother Helen and grandfather Herb are my aunt and uncle!! Means your dad is my cousin. Okay, is it Herb, Peter or Paul? Well, which ever one it is you're going to have to tell them you talked to me. I grew up with those guys and I miss them!! Too bad we lose touch so easily when we really don't mean to! I graduated from WHS with Paul. I live in Raymond NH (for 25 years now) and have been married for 29 years. We have two sons. Nick, 24, lives in Orlando...I envy him! Nate, 20, is a Marine stationed in Calf. My mom is 88 and she lives with us.
I don't know how much I can tell you about Reginal, he died just before I was born. I do know he was something like a merchant marine and my dad looked just like him. I remember going to their house in Burlington. I have some pictures of him and my grandmother that when I hunt them down I could share them with you.
Okay, I've probably bored you enough for now. Please write back and let me know your stuff! Tell that cousin of mine I'd really love to hear from him!!!
Bette

Hi, Noticed your search for Bryn Family...
I am the great-great granddaughter of Amund P.
Bryn from Nord Fron, Gudbrandsdalen, Norway.
I have a lot of information on the family and
would be more than willing to share this with
you. He was also married to a Bryn, Berthe,
because of the way people were named from the
farms. Please let me know if you think we are
related. Since my family came in the 1800's
it could be that your Bryn's moved to that
farm and we aren't related at all!! Carol

Bonnie, Have you had any luck on the Bryn family search in Norway? I recently started looking myself, my great grandfather came over around 1900 from Norway - Rolfe (Reginald) Bryn. His father was evidently big in the military, but i haven't found anything at all.
