Cyrus Bucher of Pennyslvania's 1862 Diary

I saw a 1862 Diary written by Cyrus Bucher listed on ebay. He lived in Lebanon PA, and later in Astoria, Fulton County, Illinois. He was a member of the Church Of The Brethren. The listing says his parents were Ezra & Elizabeth (Reist) Bucher, and his brother were John & Christian. He married Barbara Dohner, and his second marriage was to Leah Shenk Gibble.

I have a Lincoln G. Booker in my file b 1893 the son of John W. Booker. Lincoln lived in Shelby Co., IL. Is this your family? My data for this family is very sparse, but I believe that John W. b abt 1834 in OH was the son of Simon P. Bucher b abt 1805 in VA and Maria Miller b abt 1807 in PA. I have 3 wives for John W. Booker. Lincoln was the son from his last marriage to Lettie Mansfield.

It was only in September this year that I found the document that ties my line, which includes Simon, to the book of Charles Booker. I believed it tied for a long time, and so did Charles, but there was no proof until I found these deeds in Winchester, VA.

I am the grand-daughter of Lincoln Gillespie Booker of Windsor Illinois. Grandpa Lincoln died in 1972 and is buried in Windsor's cemetery. My father, Kenneth Dean Booker, born in 1915, was his only son. He lived in the Windsor, Mattoon, and Sullivan Illinois area all of his life. He died in 1975. I have two brothers. I have seen the Charles Booker book which is very impressive but could not find my grandfather or father listed. I am interested in learning more. Thanks

Lelia "Lee" Regina Bucher Pfening passed away on July 29, 2011 of natural causes.
She is survived by her loving sons, Frederic III (Janet), and Timothy (Suzi); three grandchildren, Victoria Pfening Smith, Lesley Pfening, and Frederic Pfening IV; and one great-grandchild, Madeline Smith.

Born in Coshocton, Ohio on October 4, 1921, she is preceded in death by her parents Lester Ray Bucher and Helen Daugherty Bucher, sisters Jean Bucher Munro and Lois Ann Bucher and brother Jack William Bucher.

A 1939 graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky, she attended the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.

Moving to Columbus, Ohio in 1941 with her family she was an assistant buyer at Morehouse Fashion on High Street before marrying Frederic D. Pfening Jr. on May 30, 1947. Their union lasted for 63 years until his death in 2010. Together they traveled the world, going to Europe over 30 times.

She loved good food, chocolate, painting, reading, dogs and cats, and most of all her family.
Her wit, sense of humor, and compassion were among her strongest character traits.

Visitation will be held at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011. A private interment will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, August 3, 2011

For those who wish, contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 3015 Scioto-Darby Executive Court, Hilliard, Ohio 43026 in her memory.

what little we know of Grandpa bucher is that he came Froma town near Neudorf [Beromunster?]He imigrated to the USA in 1883. and spent 4 yrs. in StLouis,Missouri.

Below is from a newspaper clipping from August 6th, 1944. The lady who is listed as "Mrs. Mintue Snow, Pleasant Hill" Is Armintia "Mint" "Minnie" Cary Snow. She is my 3rd Grt Grandmother. I'm trying to research the Cary Family, and the Bucher Family... Armintia Snow Cary has two sisters that married two Bucher brothers. Mary Jane Cary married William Henry Bucher, and Georgia "Annie" Anne Cary married Philip Dorse Bucher Sr. Both William and Philip has a sister named Susan "Jennie" Marion Bucher who married Preston Erwin, both of whom are my 3rd Grt Grandparent's as well. Preston and Jennie Erwin had a son named Frank Erwin, he married Armintia's daughter Francis "Fanny" Catherine Snow. Confusing I know... I would like to know more about the Bucher's (pronounced Booker). I know Jennie's, William's, and Philip's father was Samuel Bucher. He was the Marshal of West Port (Kansas City, Mo) and was murdered in 1879. Would like to know more, and possibly find pictures of all listed. Your help is much appreciated in advance! I was once told that the Cary Reunion is still held today but may have moved to Lees Summit, Mo. My Grandmother had gone to it back in 1960's.

Dear Paul, I can't believe I just ran across your message from January. My Outlook has been disconnected and I just got up and running again.

Believe it or not, I just got back from visiting Aunt sue, Susan and the rest of the family yesterday. I live in Canton, Ohio -- just four hours away from Cincy. All are doing well. Aunt sue is 91. We spent hours talking about family and old times. I remember meeting your mom and dad at Bill Briggs's wedding about 35-40 years ago. Hope they are well. My mom, Blanche, was Sue's middle sister. Sue lives with my Aunt Betty.

I'm new to this and am having trouble so any help would be greatly apprecieated, what I know so far from my fathers family, his name was Alfred Frederick Bucher DOB 8/25/28.
His father was Gebhard Bucher, mother was Malivina Wessel or Malvine Wessel. I believe Gebhard's parents were Joseph Bucher & Mary. I think Gebhard & Malivina both came over into New York in 1906 but not together. They then met and settled in Richmond, VA where my father was born. Info on the Wessels will also be helpful.

Hi Carolyn, I talked with Mom today and she says the Pikars were cousins of the Buchers. Aunt Sue was my Moms Oldest brother John Paulmann's second wife and they had a daughter Sue who married into the Springmyer family. I remember the wedding even though I was young, the reception was held at The Twin Lanterns on Harrison Av. in Dent.

Hi Carolyn, my name is Paul Mueller, a lot of time has gone by since your post and this one. My Father was Frank George Mueller and Mother is Eve (Paulman) Mueller, My Grandfather was Nicholas Mueller (He arrived in Cinci. in 1907 at age 18, he worked in the slaughter house)and my Grandmother was Magdalena (Bucher) Mueller, I believe Magdalena's Fathers name was Henry Bucher and her Mother was Katharine (Katze) Bucher. I think the Pikars were cousins to the Muellers(?). There was a Blacius Bucher who my mom always refers to as Uncle Blozzy. Your Aunt Sue and my Mother Eve have known each other I believe a long long time. I hope your Aunt Sue is doing well.

According to Lutheran Church records of Frederick, Maryland, Adam Lebele, third son of the late Michael Lebele, and Barbara Bucherin (Bucher), both of Frederick County, MD, were married on the 14th of March 1773. Adam and Barbara first settled in what was then Bedford County, Pennsylvania; it is now Somerset County. They had nine children: Peter, Adam, John Jacob, John Michael, Catherine (Caty), Joseph, George, John, and Elizabeth.
In 1806, Adam and Barbara left for Ohio with all their children except for their son, Adam. Their descendants say Adam was both a farmer and a tailor. Barbara was said to be a very dark woman with big black eyes. Some believed she had some Indian blood. This isn't likely considering her marriage in the Frederick Lutheran Church. Adam died, 26 August 1831, in Knox County, Ohio . He was buried in the Bethel Cemetery, Harrison Township, Knox County. Barbara died 17 April 1842.

Responding to als0519@verizon.net request, as at my wife's deceasing she asked to keep her address open for genealogy mail. I checked her Mary Jane Bucher, who was born 1st Jan 1856. I checked my wife's data base and found no other Mary Jane Bucher's listed connected to her side of the family. Most of my wife's Bucher's were born in Chester and Montgomery counties of PA. Sorry. I also have a Mary Jane Bucher in my family, she is my g-grandmother b. 1890 in Sunbury, PA. She married Jacob Xavier Burkhart and had seven boys, six of whom made it to adulthood. I am anxious to find her parents' names. Perhaps my Mary Jane Bucher is somehow distantly related to yours? Do you know if your Mary Jane had any brothers with children? This has been the most difficult line of my family to trace. Any help is appreciated.

I have just started research on my wife's family Clinton Heyd. He was the son of Charles Darius Heyd who married Estella Eugenia Giddings 1-19-1910.

I have extensive information on the Giddings family who is related to the Bunting family (Estella's mother was Mary Lovina Bunting and goes back before 1500's )

I am in the process of gathering and listing these family connections. And will gladly share them with you if you so desire.

I would like to know if you have any more information on George Heyd of Ohio who married your Magdalena Bucher?? I am of course attempting to trace back the Heyd family and this has been great news.

I by the way have extensive information on my family the Whitney's all the way back to 1210.... and am now in search of my wife's geneology...

Researching Fred L. Bucher, son of Charles and Stella. He did marry Olive Carpenter in Omaha in 1917. They moved to
Minneapolis and are found there in the 1920 Census. Then

We have traced BOHER/BUCHER family back to 1850 census in Bedford township in Bedford, PA.
WILLIAM BUCHER and wife CATHARINE, and family. We have all of their information, but can't trace William back farther.
It appears that William's mother SUSANA BUCHER is living in the home at the time of the census. She is 81 yrs old -- makes her birth date arouns 1769.

We can't find William's father.
Is Susana his mother?

My grandmother name was Dorothy Edna Ann Perkins. I know my grandfather was born in Canada and had my father at age 24.

I'm looking for info on them too...They were my Mother's cousins...her family was from Roanoke IL. You might find some limited info on them in the Swiss Antabaptist Geneological Society's data bases.

I am trying to find info on a Beverly Bucher, born somewhere between 1924 & 1940, possibly in Canandaigua, NY, & lived in Buffalo, NY at one time. Her father might have been Salvatore (not sure of spelling) Bucher. I am thinking I might be having a hard time finding her because she might have gotten married & no longer goes by Bucher, but I am not sure. If anyone can give me any information so I can piece together this part of my family tree, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Mark had a lifelong love of animals. He was a volunteer at Lollypop Farm for two years in high school; completed an internship at the Brighton Animal Hospital; and volunteered at a monkey sanctuary in South Africa one summer. He enjoyed dog sledding and skijoring with his huskies, soccer, snowboarding, tennis, wakeboarding and water sports on Canandaigua Lake.
He was fortunate to be surrounded by many genuine and fun-loving friends. He had an infectious laugh, kind and caring nature, and an adventurous spirit.
No calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM, Friday February 5th at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allendale Columbia School at 519 Allens Creek Rd., Rochester, NY 14618 or the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450.

I am looking for info on Christian Beecher/ Bucher. He came to the US to live in NY at 11 years old and changed his name to Beecher for some reason. I know he came from Germany but can't find what part of Germany he was born (1861). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-Sue

My great grandfather was Karl B. Bucher and came from Ravensburg. I have information on the family if you would like it and would love to get info on your family.

My g-grandfather hid on the family farm from the Germans for five years until he got his naturalization papers. His youngest brother was the only one who didn't escape over the mountains into Switzerland, and ended up fighting in the German army.

My father is still alive and remembers your g-grandfather and many stories about the brothers.

I wish I could, but the copy I had of the book went missing on our move from Florida back to Ohio.

I 'goggled' it and see that the Dayton Public Library has it. You could contact them and ask that the relivent pages be copied for you.

The call letters for the 1976 Booher Horizons Book are: B92 B7244B

Also saw that he produced another book in 1991
It's call letters are B92 B7244BB
