      <title>Buchnoff/Paul Jack Butchrie--Los Angeles, CA</title>
      <link>http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/surnames.buchnoff/1/mb.ashx</link>
<description>I am seeking information about my grandfather Paul Jack Butchrie. He was a Russian immigrant, born around 1891 and arriving in Los Angeles around 1907. Since his surname is not of Russian origin, I suspect the family changed their name. It might have originally been Buchnoff. Paul's parents were Jack Butchrie and Hazel Kovicnkoff. Since Paul Butchrie lived in East Los Angeles, he may have been connected to the Molokan and Subbotnick communities. He married my gradmother, Ruth Moses Pivovaroff (daughter of Moses and Julia Pivovaroff) in 1918. (The Pivovaroffs were Molokans and Subbotnicks). They had two daughters: Norma Butchrie (born in 1920) and Helen Butchrie (born in 1931). He died in Los Angeles Jan. 27, 1936 and is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery in East Los Angeles. Please contact me if you have any information about my grandfather. Thank you.</description>
