I believe your grandfather Walter Bufford was the brother of my grandfather, Albert Bufford. They lived in a community called Peter Creek in Cleburne County, Arkansas. His was also married to Lura T. WARREN, OHIO - Karen Marie Moses, 57, 536 Federal Street N.W., departed this life unexpectedly at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 8, 1953, in Warren,Ohio the daughter of the late Curtis and Marguerite Davis Bufford Sr.

Ms. Moses was employed with Nana's Cleaning Service and ABC Management. She also worked many years for the YWCA as a domestic engineer.

She was a 1973 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School.

She was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, volunteer for the Autism Foundation, enjoyed drawing, singing and baking, had an extensive card ministry and loved nurturing children.

She leaves to mourn one daughter, Sherry Marie (Benjamin) Williams of Hampton, Virginia; three brothers, Curtis (Joyce) Bufford Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, and Kevin B. Bufford and Christopher (Crystal) Bufford, both of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Caroline James of Warren, Sharon D. (Anthony) Nwankwo of Youngstown, Ohio and Valerie L. Stiggers of Warren; she helped raise a niece, Marguerita Stiggers, and a nephew, Christopher Bufford, both of Warren; two grandchildren, Elijah and Skylar Williams, both of Hampton; a special friend, Orson Penny of Youngstown; four godchildren, Rodrick Sparks, Makai Sims, Nizier Frank and Norell Frank, all of Warren, Ohio; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Christal Bufford.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at New Fellowship Baptist Church, where calling hours will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Arrangements of comfort were handled by the Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home.

gena , I have replied to some of your questions. Maybe you didn't see them . I have heard of the name Earl bufford. He lived in powell, texas. The deaf one was named wilma bufford. He lived and died in crexcent , oklahoma. There was a sister nemed Jesse and one named Besse I don' t know anything about them other than their name . I have a list of the children from John bufford and Mahalia bufford. there was anothe one whose name was Quilley who lived in crexcent. Earl bufford died somewhere in Arizonia. one of his sons also died. If at all possible i would like to talk with you . I live in crexcent, okla.

i was searching the 1930 census on my grandfather, I found out that Earl Bufford's wife's name was Rose at that time she was from oklahoma. and his mothers ,name was mahle or Mahila, she was from georgia, But my ggfather,her husband must have died,because it stated widow, she was 60 , Rose was a cook,and Earl wasa loaborer, he had odd jobs,Earl Had kids with Rose,I dont know any of them. But what I do know Earl moved on and married my grandmother, Bessie May Greene, and had four children . My father Erenest Earl Bufford, If anyone have any info on rose and earl children or Earl's father I know his name was John from Georgia, his wife Mahle, from georgia, Info on Earl brother and sisters,One sister name was Jessie she passed away some time, I was told there were some brothers gamblers, and one was deaf or couldnt talk. My famliy was classified as(negro)....Thanks for anyone that can help me, grow and to connected some info to share with my childred. They came too California LA 1930.

Gena Bufford these are John Bufford childrens names . I may not have all of them but this is the majority of them.Wes - reuben -quilley -wilma -Rossie -Kate -Bessie -Jessie -Rarl -Arnet. this is all of the names that I have. My understanding is that they left Decater, Georgia and moved to Kern , Texas which is just outside of Corsicana, Texas. From there some of them moved to oklahoma. I don't know where but I think that john bufford died in oklahoma. I was told that his wife moved to california with her daughters. harold summie bufford was my grandfather. His father name was Albert Bufford. Albert and John were brothers. I don't really know but I think that they probable had some more sisters and brothers that they left in Georgia. I would really like to know how to contact you. I am away from home a lot but I will check my message board.

In reading your question about john bufford family ; i think that i know some of the bufford that you are talking about. i don't know all of them but i do know the one that you said was deaf. the one son that was deaf name was wilma bufford . he lived and died in crescent, okla. He also had a brother named Quilley who also lived in crescent , okla. there were some more brothers and sisters but I did not know them .There is one that lives in dallas, Texas,

Sorry abourt taking so long to reply, I have changed my email address and didn't realize there were replies!

My stepdad lived in Altenwalde Germany. His sister Sigrid gave birth to a boy in 1956. He was fathered by a US Soldier named James E. Bufford who came from Georgia. She said he was aware of the baby but had lost contact after he was transfered back to the US. The whole family immigrated to the US in Jan. of 1957. They now live in Washington State. i In reading gena bufford message, my grandfather name was harold summie bufford. His father name was albert bufford. His uncle was john bufford. He had a lot of children i think close to thirteen. Harvey J. Bufford was my grandfather's, Dennis Ellis Bufford, older brother. Harvery was born in 1878 and Dennis in 1882. A sister, Grace Bufford Jones was born in 1879. All three were born around Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. Their parents were George Henry Bufford and Elsie Stacy. The family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan after the 1880 Census. The different members are stated in the 1900 Census and 1910 Census as residents of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

Harvey J. Bufford, according to stories from my lineage of Buffords, was killed around the time my mother was born in 1917. According to the censuses in 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 his family (wife and children) lived around Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I would like to communicate with descendants of Harvey or Grace Bufford Jones in order to exchange information and photos. Possibly communication between the different lineages of Harvey, Grace Bufford Jones, and Dennis E. Bufford could help; to find information on Phebe Tuttle, mother of George Henry Bufford, and the father of George Henry Bufford.

I have photos of George Henry Bufford and Elsie Stacy Bufford form the 1880s. One of them is a photo of George and Elsie with their baby daughter, Grace Bufford Jones. I also have photos of my grandfather as a very young man. One of them is a photo of my grandfather with two other unidentified men. Maybe one of these men could be Harvey.

We are cousins. Hubert Wiley Bufford (1888 - 1979) was my greatgrandfather. He was born in Stewart Co. TN but came to Marshall Co. KY as a young man where he married Ida Elsie Greer in 1914. Hubert was the son of John Prewitt Bufford and Sarah Elizabeth McLeod. I am researching the family. Warren and Mabel were brothers and sisters of Hubert. I'm from the U.S. Virgin Islands, my grandmother's name was Rosita Anita Bufford, born 1893 and her sister's name was Sarah Bufford, however, I know that they had a brother-dont recall his name, lived somewhere in the United States. I know he visited St. Thomas sometime in the early 70's - the only thing I can recall of him was he lost one arm.

My grandfather (John Lewis Bufford) was born to Dave Bufford and Luci Deadwiler in Alabama on January 12, 1913 one day before my grandmother (Carrie Mae Mitchell) was born to George Washington Mitchell and Winnie Ward...i don't know if he had any relatives from Georgia but it is truly possible since many blacks moved to the Birmingham area after the discovery of coal and the beginning of the steel industry in the late 1880's....one day when i get a copy of the 1880 census for jefferson county, alabama ( birmingham) i will be able to say if that came from georgia or had relatives there.....

Her parents were born according to the 1880 census in Mississippi and Georgia. Anyone out there looking for a relative please email me. I may have additional info here....my father is Charles Bufford, brother of May Bufford, Nellie Bufford, Warren Bufford, Robert Bufford and Marshall Bufford, all of Dover TN. John Bufford would be my father's grandfather. Down under second wife of William Bufford you have some of my father's relatives listed....Warren may be my father's brother, but I tink he died prior to 1995. May is my father's sister. Mable is his aunt and my great aunt. I noticed many references to the name Acree, which is my father's middle name. Anyway--there may be a connection here.

I'm not sure if this is your family, but my grandmother's name was Ola Bufford(she married a Murray 12-24-1912), she was from Porter Springs, TX. I used to go to the Bufford family reunion in or around Lufkin(Angelina County). My father's name was Buford Murray so you might want to using the spelling with just one "f" too.

I am doing research on the Murray side of my family and plan on filling in the Bufford side later.
