Hi, Julie and other BUNN cousins. My gg-grandfather was William "Blind Henry"!!. His son, Wiley (NMN) was son of his first wife, Elizabeth (Smith?). She died before Wiley was a year old. Second wife was Cynthia Stout.
Wiley was born 1835 in Franklin co, AL, died 1913 in Dallas. From Wiley, I have anything you may want to know about the BUNN family. Wiley married Mary Susan Elizabeth BUNN (aka Lizzie), dau of William A. and Mary (Lowe) BUNN.
Wm A. was son of James Wiley, brother of "Blind Henry". Wm Henry & James Wiley had a sister, Charlotte. Their parents were Etheldred & Nancy (Sikes/Sykes) BUNN. Charlotte married James Hamilton Moffett, moved to CA and started their own "dynasty".
We knew that Wiley & Lizzie were "some kind of cousins" but this week, I found the connection and have been doing the " happy dance" ever since. They were 1C1R. Now I'm finding BUNNs by the ton.
Please email me direct and let's see how we connect. I am still trying to get them all straightened out and could use all the help I can get. chris
cmycrate (at) hotmail.com

I'm looking for information on my great-great grandfather William S. Bunn.

Information I have so far:
Born: July 1849 in Pennsylvania (Fairly certain of date, don't know where in Pennsylvania)
Married: Mary Susan Fowler (born 1853 in Ohio) in 1884
Children (both were born in Hutchinson, Kansas):
-Hanna Elizabeth Bunn: 1887-1950
-William Edward Bunn (my great grandfather): 1892-1981
Lived in:
-Escalupia Township, Benton Co., Arkansas (1900 Census)
-Big Spring, Benton Co., Arkansas (1910 Census)
Possible date of death: July 15, 1915 (only partially sure of this)

He is also believed to have a sister named Elizabeth (married name possibly "Dye")

His son, William Edward Bunn, eventually made his way to Muscatine, Iowa.

Thanks...I've seemed to hit a dead-end on this.

Lara

Ok lets see Charley or Charles Heber Bunn would be my GGG Grandfather. He was married to a Susie or Susan Sabrah Johnson(maiden name). There daughter Gurtrude or Trudy Mae Bunn(maiden name) married a Loubie Carl Harris. There daughter Lucy Renea Harris(maiden name) married a George Thomas Faulkner. There daughter Mary Ann Faulkner had a child by James Lonnie Proctor Sr. Her name was Susan Renea Thompson, she was not given the Proctor last name. Susan Renea Thompson is my (Heather Michelle Thompson) mother. I also was not given my fathers last name. Any more information about this family would be a lot of help.

Hi, I have traced my ancestors back to Philip Reed Bunn and Mary Ann Taggart. They are buried in Gilboa in Putnam County Ohio. I have hit a brick wall at this point. Some of the family trees list a father of John Bunn and mother of Rossana Reed. Census indicates father is from N.J. I would be interested information that could link me back 1 or 2 more generations. No verbal family history was passed to my Mother or Aunt. Family first settled in Putnam Co. Ohio then in Hancock.

Well you are in luck! I just found her headstone on findagrave.com. Her date of death is 25 Dec 1854. I also found on findagrave Martin's parents, Conrad Bunn and Mary Walden Bunn.

I go down from Esther thru the Hilers (my maiden name) and I actually have headstone pictures all the way down.

Christi

I lived in Tullahoma TN and found that the Blind Henry Bunn was a line of the NC Bunn's having moved to NC from VA (arriving James City VA 1622)
I have the genealogy book of the Bunn family that was done by BJ Bunn of Wilson NC.
I'd be happy to do lookups (free of course!)for you if you like-just tell me what you need.

It was funny to move to Tullahoma being a direct NC decendant. My daughters name is Jessica Bunn and graduated from Coffee Co High School with another Jessica Bunn, definitely related.
I am back in NC now so if you ever need information or lookups just contact me anytime.

Julie Bunn

Mary, wife of Redmund Bunn, died 1818 Nash Co, NC

April 10, 1818, Star newspaper (NC): DIED, lately in Nash County, Mrs. MARY BUNN, consort of REDMUN BUNN, Esq., in the 71st year of her age. In the death of this venable and pious lady, her husband lost the only stay of his declining life – but he hath consolation in the hope that she is gone to receive the inheritance of a better world. He had been more than 40 years a member of the Baptist Church, and ever sustained a character worthy of her profession. To the poor she was a friend in the time of need – and was universally beloved and esteemed by her neighbors. During her illness she manifested the utmost patience and resignation, and seemed to welcome the hour of death.
“Gray hairs is a crown of glory when found in the ways of righteousness” – by “death is the crown of life” to the true Christian.

Lovely obituary, and nice information to have. Thought some might be interested. Note: The spelling was "Redmun" not "Redmund" [Virginia S. Mylius]

My end of line ancestor is Samuel Bunn b 5 May 1715, Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts, d 11 Mar 1784 Dighton, Bristol, Massachusetts; m Esther Dickes/Dickens 23 Feb 1733, Dighton. Only child I have for them is Nathaniel b 1734, Dighton, d 1775/76; m Abigail Ormsbee.

I have seen records for an Edward Bunn b 1612, immigrated to Bostonwith his family. Only 2 children were mentioned, Elizabeth and Matthew (born of his 2nd wife Elizabeth Mason) Could my family descend from children of Edward's first wife?

My ancestor Matthew Bunn b 1772 (son of Nathaniel) wrote of his capture by Indians and by the British. Have info on him and his descendents to share. Thanks for any help you can give me.

two children of William "Blind Henry" Bunn (b 1793 Northhampton NC, d 1875 in Tullahoma Ten) both married people from Fayetteville Tenn
Henry Bunn (b 1838 Russellville Ala) married Cincinatti Yant in 1858 and Louisa Bunn married George Wiley Woodard (b 1843 Fayetteville Tenn) in 1864.
Two first cousins, the children of these marriages were my great-grandparents, Thomas Wiley Woodard and Margaret Genevia Bunn.
William Bunn had another child named Wiley George Woodard (b 1835 in Franklin Ala, d 1912 in Dallas Tx)
I don't believe it is coincidence that there were two men with the same names. I believe that these two families knew each other = Blind Henry and a Woodard ancestor, but I can't find the link.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might look?

Hi again,
Sorry for any confusion but I dont yet have any family linking with JT as ancestors or descendants. I recorded details of his family some years ago in case he proved to be linked with my Bunn's who moved north from Essex - maybe possible but unlikely now it seems. May be of interest, I noted that FreeBMD shows a JT born 1904 in Soke on Trent Staffordshire but no other JT's in that year. Best regards, Allen

Hello Sam, I have been watching because I had recorded JT and Family info. Some of my Bunn's went from Essex to Durham and one, Henry born 1849 married Ellen Jane Appleton in Cookfield in 1873. I have recorded 4 children, born 1875 - 1886 but have nothing further on them. Unlikely they are part of your search but one never knows. I also have details of a Latchingdon (Essex) William Bunn married Lanchester 1877. I have the 2 youngest children as Joseph & Thomas Arthur probably born after 1895. If you get any connection, or ancestors for JT, I would be very interested. Regards, Allen Bunn

I am descended from Joseph DAUBON 1826-?USA who was born in Offley near Hitchin in Hertfordshire, England. The censuses show the family with various spellings, and I remember seeing a Birmingham entry for a Catherine BUNN on the census for C1891. The name and date were similar to his second wife's particulars. They are also listed as Dawborn(e), Dobbin, Daubin. My ggranmother kept to the DAUBON name with the emphasis on the BON which may explain why it became BUNN... Hope this may help. Julia Henry

Alice. Thank you so much for that information. I wasn't aware of Anthony Bunn's court papers but I fully agree with your analysis. I will add to my research "to do" to pull Anthony's docs on my next research venture to NJ. I really appreciate your info as this finally allows me to extend my line back on the Bunn side rather than having to stop at Mary. I also have to look at the death record for Mary again on my visit. Again thank you so very much.

The Mary Bunns of New Jersey: Anthony Bunn (1773-1867) was a son of Lawrence Bunn Sr and Sarah Hildebrand. They did not have any children. In his will, Anthony willed his estate to his nieces and nephews. Six of his siblings were deceased. It was their children who were involved. The final settlement by decree of court said there was $977.35 left after expenses. (I do not have this final settlement paper but the info came from C. Robert Brown who was an avid genealogist of the Bunn family. I do not doubt his word.) Anthony directed that the children of each of his siblings who were deceased would get 1/6th of his estate (I figure ca $39 ea). I won't list them here but the last 6 children were: David Sutton, Lemuel Sutton, Aaron Sutton, Mary Decker (m. name), Julia Ann Sutton and Geo B. Sutton (all children of Mary Bunn Sutton) who was the sister of Anthony. and Anthony was the son of Lawrence Sr. This Mary Bunn was always thot to be daughter of Martin/Esther Crater. Not so! The Mary who m Derrick Lane was the other Mary. They lived next door to Martin. Derrick and Mary named their 2nd child Esther after her mother. She had a sister Elizabeth who lived either with her parents or the Lanes who was 2 years older than her sister Mary and unmarried. Elizabeth consistently was listed in either of those 2 family's in the 1850-60-70 censuses. There was a distinct difference in the ages of both Marys. And now last but not least, the death sheet from Tewksbury naming the death date of Mary Bunn Sutton was obviously written at one sitting and prob the person who did it let their eye wander to the line above and put in John instead of Martin. There was no John and Esther. And this Mary was not their daughter, anyway. This is not the first case where wrong info was put on an important document. I rest my case.
Thanks. I know that there was a business relationship between Richard Sutton (Mary's husband) and Lawrence Bunn, Jr. based on court records but there was never anything that noted the relationship that I have been able to determine. It is possible, given these dealings, that there was a link between Mary and Lawrence Bunn, Jr. The fact that a John and Ester are listed on Mary's death certificate doesn't hold much water being it was probably provide by one of the children who may never have know their Bunn grandparents.

I have no proof, but Mary is given as the wife of Richard Sutton in Theodore Chambers, The Early Germans of New Jersey, page 516. I have no other information on the Bunn children other than what is in my query.

Saw your reference to the children of Lawrence Bunn. You noted Mary (wife of Richard Sutton). Can I ask your source for this information. I have been looking for Mary's parents for sometime now. Her death certificate cites parents as John and Ester Bunn but have never been able to find this couple. Thanks.

For a fee you can request a copy of his original social security application which should give you his parents names. A copy of his California death certificate should also give you information. With his parents' names, you may possibly be able to find info on brothers and sisters in the census.

Name: O. D.
