I'm seaching for African-American BURNELLs.
This family of BURNELLs migrated from the
Carolinas, Georgia, and/or Alabama into
Arkansas probably around 1870.

MY GREAT-GRANDPARENTS WERE JOE AND VIRA BURNELL OF NEVADA COUNTY, ARKANSAS. I HAVE NO OTHER INFORMATION AND AM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT THEM.

Yes I am a descendant of African/American
BURNELLs in Nevada County,AR.
I have lots of info on this family. Can you tell
me anything other than they are you grandparents?

MY MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER WAS MATTIE BURNELL JOOHNSON. BORN 1884 AND DIED IN PRESCOTT, ARK IN 1968. SHE MARRIED WALTER JOHNSONM, WHO WAS BORN IN 1906.

WALTER AND MATTIE HAD THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN:

OSCAR JOHNSON - DOB 10/12/1904
GRACE JOHNSON - DOB 12/25/1906
JOSEPHINE JOHNSN - DOB 5/11/1912
RALPH JOHNSON - DOB 4/6/1913
VURNA JOHNSON - DOB 8/11/1915 DIED 1934 OR 1936
PEARL JOHNSON - DOB 7/19/1918
EARL JOHNSON - DOB 4/5/1920
WALTER JOHNSON, JR. - DOB 1929

my daughter is an AA- Burnell We too are looking for AA -Burnells. Grandparents moved to San Francisco from Detroit in the sixty

You found us! There are African American Burnells all over the U.S. Read the reply from France Heywood. She had DNA conducted on one of the male Burnells and found our origin is the Akan People of Ghana. When she provided me with that information, I now have a new sense of belonging.

We are related. My great grandfather was Isom, grandfather was Godfrey and Father was Lee Edward Burnell. Grandfather and father were both born in Nevada County in Arkansas

I believe Aunt Mattie was my great aunt. She was my grandfather Godfrey's sister. Prescot is in Nevada County in Arkansas. I believe there were about 11 siblings including my grandfather. Their father's name was Isom and mother was Eugenia. Both are buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetary in the Black section by Mt. Vernon Church in Arkansas
