Charles Burnie Graham

Charles Burnie was born on the 15 April 1881 at East Back Road Irvine. His mother was Jane (Jeannie) Burnie, she married John Graham in 1881 and Charles Burnie took his name. John Graham was a Coal Miner and the family lived in the Kilwinning area and had another 8 children. Charles Burnie Graham put a memorial for his sister in the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald in 1954 and he clearly lived in the USA. Can anyone help me with the descendants of his family.

The Burnies

I am searching for William Burnie b 18 Feb 1859 at Paisley Glasgow, son of William Burnie and Mary McGill. I have traced him through to his sister Jane's wedding on 22 June 1881 at Irvine. She married John Graham from Dreghorn, Coal Miner. William Burnie was witness at this wedding. I have not been able to find him since.

I am also looking for his other sister Catherine Burnie (Burney). I have not been able to trace her after her birth on 7 Feb 1861 at Greenock. It may be after her mother's death in 1865 she went with her Grandmother Catherine O'Donnelly McGill

I have been searching for these two people for quite a while to no avail. I would be grateful if anyone can help with this.

Rhoda was born about 1900. Rhoda married a Howard F. Smith, divorced & married a Burnie (?spelling). I believe that the Joseph & Rhoda Berny in the 1930 MA census to possibly be the Rhoda I am in search of. Joseph & Rhoda had two daughters in 1930...Jeanne & Leonora.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Susan

I have found a photo labeled Al Burnie taken beside a dam. Perhaps in the 1920's? Young man,bow tie, dark jacket, light pants, hat behind him, big grin. It was in box with New England friends and relatives, perhaps in Millinockett,ME? Do not think he is a relative, happy to send picture if identified.

I would like to say a HUGE Hello from an obvious cousin!!! I have to tell you that "my" George Burnie was born in the late 1800's in England and immigrated to Canada. He came from a huge family and that is ALL that we know. For some strange reason, there was never any discussion about his family nor were we encouraged to ask. My sister's and I feel very "lost" in this world without knowing who our real family is. I seem to feel that your George Burnie was more likely a nephew to my George (could he have been named after my Grandfather?).

Searching !!!!

I just wanted to get connected with anyone by the last name of Burnie. My sister's and I have been searching for some time now for any other Burnie's "out there". The only linkage that we have is to our grandparents who went by the name of George Burnie and Marian Burnie. They had a son (our father) who went by the name of Robert George Burnie. He was in the Air Force at the time of his death in 1966.

If anyone knows anything about these people, I would be very excited to talk to you....

Sincerely, Lori (Burnie) Huber

Terry Burnie

Hello everybody. I am just making a few tentative enquiries as to whether anyone knows of the whereabouts of my biological father, Terry Burnie. I am not even sure if I have the spelling of his last name correct, so it may be that I am searching the wrong board! But you seem like a nice bunch, so I'm sure you'll forgive me.
I was born in 1977, and he would have been (probably) in his early twenties then. He was staying with a couple named Roley in England. My mother, Julie Edington, broke up with him before she knew she was pregnant and moved to Scotland. He was just thinking of going off with the navy at this stage. I know nothing further, although I think he learned of my existance through a mutual friend.
I would be grateful for any info anyone can provide. Cheers!
Corena.
Burnie Family

Hi, my name is Anne Brown, but my mothers name (maiden name) is Elizabeth Annie Bowman Burnie. She is the daughter of John (Jack) Burnie from Dalbeattie. My grandfather, Jack was married to Elizabeth Roxburgh and they had my mother and her brother Bill Burnie who now lives in Canada and has three children there and Grandchildren too, three of whom carry on the Burnie name. My mother's cousin is Jessie Morris (nee Burnie). All my Aunty Jessies family reside in Dalbeattie. Both my mother and Aunt live in Fife. Jessie's sister, Ann Burnie, married Charles McKnight, I dont know if this is a coincendence or not, and they had three or four sons who I think all still live in Dalbeattie. Not sure if this is any help or not, I hope so.
