It IS you! You must be Florence's daughter? My mother Margaret tried to get in contact with your mother some time ago when my nanny died but I think she did not want any communication which is a great shame. Very happy to discuss in more detail but I think my mother felt your mother had an idea that she somehow had a better life and resented that. I can be totally clear that my mother did not.

Still, not the time for past issues now, it would be so amazing to know someone in my family :-)

BURRIDGES FROM CREDITON DEVON TO FULHAM LONDON

Hi

I hope the following information is of interest to someone. The earliest Burridge I have in my tree is John b.c 1806 in Crediton Devon, he was married to Ann Landick. I believe he was a Thatcher. My connection is with his great grandaughter Florence Burridge b. 1888 in Reading Berkshire. She married John Sparham, the son of my maternal Great Grandfather Arthur William Sparham and his 1st wife (also my relative), Elizabeth Sparham, Arthur's 1st cousin.
In the 1911C, John and Florence lived in Fulham. I do not know if they had children.
Would like to research further back in the Burridge line and would love to hear from anyone with any info they may have.
Cheers Lynda

I have researched the Burridge family on behalf of my best friend who lives in Canada. Her ancestor was William Burridge b 1829, he had a brother Thomas who married Anne Eary. I think you may decended from that branch of the family. William Burridge went to London where he worked in service, he was the messenger to Queen Victoria. One of his children Ethel emigrated to Canada where she and her husband built a farmstead. Their grandaughter is my friends mum. She married an architect and well known painter on Vancouver Island. If you are interested in receiving more inforation please email me on jane.laffan@btinternet.com
KInd regards
jane

I recently found out the name of my great great gma..Hannah BURRAGE/BURRIDGE. She married Joseph MILLS. He was from England, she PA.
There is a family history book with some BURRAGE's in it. They are all from PA. Google George Mathias CASTOR. I believe it is on page 36. It says to see BURRAGE GENEALOGY. I think that is available at Allen Co Library in IN, not sure, still trying to find it. The Castor book above is very interesting. You can read it on line & on the left you can search & it tells you the page.
Good Luck.
Jeanine

Basically just to find a descendant and learn the family story. I'm a descendant of Abraham Edward McIntosh (brother to Alice Maria McIntosh). I have found descendants of all the children of William & Maria McIntosh except the Burridges and McBrides. You must be the son of George Thomas Burridge. Also, I have a question about the Burridge plot in St John Cemetery. There is a large monument there with names and dates and it is surrounded by many small stones with initials on them. Is anyone buried there or is it just a memorial to the family? I believe Alice is buried in Provo with the first George Thomas Burridge and William McIntosh Burridge. I would love to correspond and share stories of our two families.

Val --

The wedding was wonderful and now we are back to "normal". I appreciate you looking over my info and verifying that I am on the right track. I would love copies of birth or death certificates. So far I only have the following certificates --

birth - Winifred Burridge (1904), Walter George Burridge (1884) and Annie's mother Charlotte Woodard (1860).

marriage - Walter George Burridge and Charlotte "Annie" Denny (1903) and her parents William Henry Denny and Charlotte Woodard (1883).

So anything else would be great! I don't know if you are interested in sidelines, but I could send you the certificates fo Walter and Annie's death if you would like. Thanks!

Colleen

I don't have any reason to believe that Richard, Ellen and Ivy ever came to America. All I know is that Walter, Annie and Winifred came in 1907 to join the rest of Annie's family. I thought that all of the pictures were from England, but I don't know that for sure either. Phillip/Thomas and his wife and daughter came to Niagara Falls a few years after Walter. I think all of their other children were born in Niagara Falls. I only have copies of the photos, I will try and see if I find out who has the originals and see if there is anything on the back of the photo that indicates location. I guess we will have to keep digging.

Colleen

Hi Colleen,
Thank you for the photographs they are great i have been studying them for a couple of days trying to find any likeness to Henry laurence.
I went to kew and i was able to have a look at the 1911 census free, i found Richard Eary Burridge wife Ellen in London. Richard couldnt have been in Niagra in 1907 it must have been later. Now i am wondering if Richard emigrated to Niagra with his wife Ellen and not as i thought just with his daughter Ivy,maybe the picture with the soldier could it be Richard and Ellen with maybe philip or walter. Were the pictures taken in Niagra or in England before they emigrated, what do you think.
I found a person researching the same family in his research it states that Ellen died in 1940 aged 80 place not stated. I have emailed this person today and hopefully he will reply fingers crossed, i will email you when he contacts me.Sorry i have just looked in mine note book and found Philip Tom Burridge Wife Nellie and daughter Amy Irene again in the 1911 census living in Brentford Middlesex London England.
The photograph of the young women and older man could be Richard and daughter Ivy.
Look forward to hearing from you soon

Regards
Val

The two I am only guessing on the identities, but the other one with Walter, Annie and Winifred are my relatives.
Val --

Thank you for your message and picture. Looking at my pictures, I don't think my picture is of Henry, but through process of elimination and a little guessing, I am leaning toward the one picture being of Richard, Ellen and Sydney and the other picture being of Richard and Ivy. Do you know if Sydney was is in the military and do you know when Ellen died? That would help me zero in on who the pictures are of. I know they are my grandmother's ancestors, but they were not identified. I have another picture that was labeled as her maternal grandparents, and the parents in this picture do not appear to be the same which is why I think they might be Richard and Ellen. If you have that information that would be great. If you like, I can send you the pictures, but right now I am still guessing at the identities.

Colleen

Valerie -
I live in a suburb of Chicago. Many of the Burridge/Lauzau relatives still live in the Niagara Falls, NY area. I really have just started looking into the Burridge side of the family. I originally started on my dad's side of the family which I traced his mother's side back to the Mayflower, but then I got stuck on his father's side and decided to move on to my mother's side.

I have gotten some info. from the English census' online, but I haven't looked into any other sources yet, or requested documents to verify census info.

As I look back at the pictures I have, they are mostly of Walter and his family. I have a couple unidentified pictures that are either Walter's parents and a brother in uniform or else Annie's parents (Denny)and a brother in uniform. Do you have any pictures of Richard and Ellen Sophie? or a picture of Henry Laurence if so I might be able to determine who these people are. My aunts and uncles might have other pictures, but they are likely to be unidentified. My grandparents didn't label very many of their pictures.

I have pretty much info on your American cousins, but basically nothing on the relatives left behind in England.
Walter's wife Annie's parents relocated to Niagara Falls New York about 4 years before them, so they had strong reasons for heading there. Although the better life in America didn't really pan out for my great grandparents, their daughters lived long and good lives and they left behind many descendants.

Do you have any information on Richard or Ellen's ancestors?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Colleen

Val-
It is good to make connections with one of our English cousins. My great-grandfather Walter George was Henry Lawrence's brother. He and his wife came to Niagara Falls New York in 1907 with their three year old daughter Winifred May (my grandmother). Her mother Charlotte Annie (went by Annie) died in 1911 after the birth of a son, sadly the son died a few weeks later without a mother. Walter George convinced Annie's best friend, Evelyn Dennis, from England to come to America to help him raise his two daughters. She came and eventually they married. Walter George died in 1918 from working with some dangerous chemicals. So Winifred May and Florence Annie were
then raised by their stepmother.

Walter's brother Philip Thomas came to Niagara Falls a few years after Walter and even after Walter died the families did many things together. My mother and her siblings were all acquainted with their Burridge cousins.

I would love to hear about the family left in England - do you know anything about the previous generations?

I know you said you have not been feeling well, I hope you are feeling well enough to exchange info. I have a few
Burridge pictures, but not that many. Hope to hear from you soon.

Colleen
